How often do you visit your parents?

Currently visiting my parents. I haven’t left yet but I already miss them. They’re getting old 😔

Once but I’m considering making excuses next year. It’s stressful for me and my children are beginning to notice the lack of s***s their grandparents give about them although the messages are mixed. Probably less damaging to them if I went nc altogether, certainly less stressful for me, but I’m worried about causing drama in the wider family.

Same here girl. Don’t enjoy it so go back a lot less and live with the guilt instead. The guilt never leaves.

it’s really nice! I also hate flying so it helps to have a long space of time between when I fly home and go back. It’s like an 8-9 hour flight

Once/twice a year. I wish I could go more, but it's expensive and my vacation days aren't enough. Sometimes they also travel to see me. So it depends.

Every time they come visit me. But they stay for two months. If I went to visit them, I'd only be able to stay for a few days. As long as they are able, it's much more economical and they get to live for two months at a time, which is enough, really. Overall I've spent more time with my parents in the decade after expatriation than in the decade before.

Twice a year and a few times three. But they are quite elderly and my dad is declining so we have made it a priority for now. It’s too long but it seems to make my mom feel better.

My dad comes to us (one flight ticket vs 3, soon to be 4), he comes twice a year. Typically for a month at a time. He has done longer stretches too, he’ll be doing a 10 week one at the end of this month.
My MIL has come once on 4 years. My husband barely sees her when he is in our home country, he prefers staying with my dad and doing other things. Works for me.

Flew to see them for the first time in 2 years due to a 24hour flight. When I lived a continent away, it was every year.
Can see how much they've aged. Will try to come every year or at least twice if I get to work remotely.
As much as they annoy me, we don't call each other much when I'm away and I can sense they appreciate just getting to see me, and even just getting to hang on the couch watching TV with them.

Im trying to visit my parents more as well. Haven’t reached the point where they annoy me but I spend most of the day in my room anyways. Sometimes when my dad is watching tv on the couch, I try to join him :)
