I would watch a Stargazer prequel.

I’m watching S4, E12 - The Wounded. Picard tells a one off story about the Stargazer and a run in with the Cardassians. That and all the tension with O’Brien and Capt. Maxwell and the war make it seem like an interesting time period.

One of the biggest dropped balls of TNG was the omission of the Stargazer crew, who ought to have been at least occasionally recurring figures in Picard's life given how long he was in command. We meet plenty of his old buddies in various episodes but it's usually very generic - "remember the good old days, Jean-Luc?" It would have been interesting to have someone who served with him for a decade+ come in and have a different perspective on the boss than the Enterprise crew, especially since Picard was apparently a colder, more distant figure back then.

I like to think they were actively avoiding each other following the trauma of losing the Stargazer. We don’t know if any of them still blamed Picard for the crew members who died. We don’t know if any of them are still in Starfleet.

Give me Captain Seven on the Enterprise, or give me nothing.

No more prequels guys. Jesus.
We know where the characterz end up, we know what can't or hasn't happened. Prequels risk ridiculous shit like SNW adding to Spocks and Kirks background in a way that fun, but seems to not really coincidene with TOS.
Plus the artstyle and approach just ends up feeling super weird juxtaposed next to TOS, TNG, of DS9.
SNW enterpiese is incredibly shiny, the decks are arranged oddly, and the rooms are massively different from anything we ever saw.
Let's just do future stuff, that way we don't have to deal with this stuff.

But on that note, stay away from "so ridiculously far in the future we can literally do ANYTHING because we're so technologically advanced". I liked Discovery until they did that and I don't really care to watch SFA because of that.

This is literally the premise of Star Trek.

I think a series focused from the alien's POV with which Starfleet visits and interacts. It would be different settings and characters each episode. So something would be needed to tie together the stories

I would absolutely love a well-written series set in that era (#bringbacktgemaroonmonsters) but I wouldn’t be excited for another prequel starring established characters. Give me some new names and faces and some aspirational optimism mixed with competency porn in a space-opera setting and I’ll be a happy boy.

I can get behind that.

Can you convince James McAvoy to shave his head?

Only if Tom Hardy plays Picard
