What’s your SHTF or go-to rifle/shotgun pair?

Colt M4 14.5” & Mossberg 590A1 18.5”.
Rifle is P&W and gets 2 MOA all day with the ACOG, shotgun is threaded for chokes and patterns birdshot pretty tight with the turkey choke.
IndependentPerfect@reddit
Nyet Mosin is fine komrade. You kill many Germans. If rifle not fine, I have hammer.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
i dont have a problem with germans
IndependentPerfect@reddit
I could name a few alternatives
LilJonny2cookies@reddit
Transferable M16 with Geiselle URGI 11.5, huxwrx, surefire, ACOG. Benelli M4

I wonder how long the "useless tape on all things" trend will last.
Substantial-Ant3884@reddit
I watched someone at a 'group training session' wrap co-band around their pressure switches on the back of the handguard. Three magazines later it melted. The tape they had around the A-pillar gas block later caught fire.
Staffalopicus@reddit
You posted this just to get comments about your yellow tape, didn’t you?
SergeiMosin@reddit
Similar to yours, just slightly more poor. 16” BCM/Aero/PSA/misc Frankencarbine and a Maverick 88, both with a bunch of krylon camo haphazardly thrown on it.
ChroniclesOfReddiitt@reddit
‘Rectal use only’ is a fucking brilliant touch 🤣
PM-PicsOfYourMom@reddit
Yup, PSA pistol build and a maverick 88 security with a cheap stock.
doulikefishsticks69@reddit
So you have zero interest in long distance shooting lol
Otakeb@reddit
Most engagements in modern combat, at least from our knowledge of modern war and dangerous encounters/home intrusions, occur within 100 yards.
I've always had the mentality that most focus on gear and training for STHF scenarios needs to be on urban combat and medium distance encounters for this reason.
Also, if you DO happen to find yourself in a long distance encounter, the chances your adversary has the equipment and training to successfully engage at 500 yards or further are very low and you would generally just avoid the encounter entirely.
UniqueNewYork3xFast@reddit
Nooo looky there. It’s a magnifier :) /s

What's with the yellow tape/paint?
GenericUsername817@reddit
My rifle, SIG516 patrol gen1

The shotgun, Mossberg 590A1

Jealous of your bayonet
GenericUsername817@reddit
I have a M7 and a OKC-3S too
VanillaIce315@reddit
It was hard for me to choose, but I went with an OKC-3S for my 20” rifle. Love me a good bayonet
Clyde-MacTavish@reddit
I've got a very similar setup, including moving the sling mount to the secondary position. Have you run into any issues with not having a screw on the front of the mag tube now?
GenericUsername817@reddit
No, never had one on the front of the tube
Clyde-MacTavish@reddit
okay sick yeah I don't like that position for mounting a sling... specially with the bayonet!!
RedshirtBlueshirt97@reddit
GenericUsername817@reddit
No means no
GenericUsername817@reddit
Or if it's going to be more close in. My 11.5 BCM upper on a psa lower.
VanillaIce315@reddit
20” Windham M16a4 “clone” and Mossberg 590a1 14” 😂
Ok-Return7750@reddit
Why the yellow tape? You trying to attract honey bees?
g00kf00t@reddit
Why does Reddit work like this, where cringe comments by drive-bys are upvoted and totally pollute the discussion with BS? Like this commenter doesn't even post on gun related subs, but a cringe one-liner gets updoots on a post about SHTF guns?
ChrisWhiteWolf@reddit
How is a question a cringe comment that pollutes the discussion?
Super0strich@reddit
I wasn’t going to vote on anything in the comments, but now I have to downvote you and give him an upvote.
paleface_gringo_2@reddit
They asked a question relevant to the post and made a silly joke. You need to calm your tits, buster.

Can you explain the tape and the numbering ?

Bcm raider upper, on a psa stealth lower, and a M&p 9.
illestdomer2005@reddit
About to do a Mock 12 build with the 13” Raider rail. Love it.
Independent_Bid_26@reddit
Yeah, I was honestly surprised by how little it weighed when compared to my original mlok psa upper. I feel like it weighs about the same, or even less but I will have to weigh it.
illestdomer2005@reddit
I was between it and the Geissele Mk4 but got the BCM for much less.
Independent_Bid_26@reddit
Yeah, I paid about double for the BCM upper, vs the whole rifle from PSA. Haha.

I only have one suitable shotgun, a Kel-Tec KS7. There's only three choices for the rifle. If I'm looking to minimize ammunition, then it needs to be the Sub 2K so that I'm only carrying 9 mm, because you got to have a handgun, too, right? I might rather have the rifle be the PS 90 since the ammunition for that are not bulky. If my wife is included in activities, she prefer the AR so that one's going to come along anyway. A bit hard to choose between the first two...
L_Cranston_Shadow@reddit
You'll just have to come at me and find out the hard way. 😋

Ar-180 variants became super popular in Canada after ar-15 variants were banned.

why do I see these as chekhovs guns, but for a real life investigation,

Nice which ACOG and reticle
RiveredNuts@reddit
TA31 with red chevron, got it zeroed with 62gr at 100m and thee BDC works for me with 16” barrel no suppressor. I also bought another ACOG I got as backup or potentially out on another AR of mine that is horseshoe . I prefer the chevron but I got an amazing deal from private sale and couldn’t say no. Emailed Trijicon before buying it to make sure it was authentic and it was 2024 production so tritium good to go for another decade or longer. I’m a big fan of the acog but I always run an offset RMR on QD mount 45degree because I believe they are amazing glass but eye relief and set up alone is not good for close quarters.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
Same here except no red dot because astigmatism.
Btw when it’s time to replace the tritium you can request a different reticle
RiveredNuts@reddit
What does that cost from your house to shop service and back all together?
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
IIRC they said around 300 but I bought one of these illuminators instead

Only optic in the game making it through an EMP without being in a faraday barrel lol
Laser-Blaster-123@reddit
What remote view target system are you using here?
RiveredNuts@reddit
Local 1000m range has them, next time I’m there I’ll have to look at what company they use I’m not for sure. Pretty nice set up for zeroing rifles.
RiveredNuts@reddit
Very similar set up, colt M4 acog/590A1 18.5……although about to pull the trigger on a different m4(Benelli) and that’d take the 590 spot. Then sidearm of choosing, probably a 9mm because of ammo availability but also not against pistol rounds starting with 4’s on my side.
Controlled_Chaos98@reddit
Unfortunately I live in a Wack state (IL) so no AR for me. I do however have an 870 police magnum shotgun
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)

I would never actually use this shotgun in a serious situation but I love it and it’s dumb
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
That a single shot break action? How long is the barrel
JelCapitan@reddit
lol yeah just a cheap 20 gauge I had fun with. Cut the barrel to 18 and put some stuff on it. I mostly use it with a insert and shoot 357mag with it
TacosNGuns@reddit
In the 90’s HBO had a series on guns and violence in America. One episode had a mad that defended his home with a single shot shotgun. One shot end the intruder. Dude who shot was traumatized to say the least. I guess my point is a single shot has absolutely devastating power.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
Honestly if it’s not very heavy it would make a good apocalypse scrounging gun
Strict-Wedding6687@reddit
Savage Stevens 887 (15 round tube of 22 lr) and Mossberg 500 with 18.5 & 28 accu choke with mod. Rifle has a 3-9x40 and the 500 has a vortex Crossfire 2 red dot. (Cause even if you're wearing plates ribs don't feel good in your lungs)
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
honestly 22lr and 12 ga. might be the most practical combo 👍
g00kf00t@reddit
Hell yeah, man.
TacosNGuns@reddit
870 HD & Colt 6450 (9mm carbine). If it more than HD I’d switch to a Colt 6940 (Monolithic 556).

Foldy. Can be 6.75” 300blk or 11.5” 5.56.
illestdomer2005@reddit
And I guess this effing thing will get me unalived.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
What is this
Paint-Crysis@reddit
Looks like a Kel-Tec KSG. Bullpup pump shotgun with dual feed tubes. I've heard they're a little tricky to cycle. Think they made a normal single feed version later on. Probably more practical.
illestdomer2005@reddit
KelTec KSG 12ga. The looks we got from the pheasant shotties were exactly what you would expect.
preparedbassfisher@reddit
Personally it would be two ARs or one AR and a 308 bolt once I can learn to shoot one
DetColePhelps11k@reddit
Too new to guns and too poor to have more guns than my Anderson AR-15 and my Beretta A300. One day, I'll be like you cool cats with your optics, chokes, and your having more than one of each weapon type.

Pair of P228 with 10 20 round Mags in a set of dual double shoulder rigs. With 2 ZP5’s W a 11 magazine capacity soft case ZP5K inside. A ZP-5 on a sling, with Tactical Vest with 9mm magazine pouches. In my health and age I can’t move with anything larger. And the case I don’t have to carry if need be, or can be handed off to another person. Smaller pouches hold P365 magazines on tactical vest, with a P365 attached to the vest or optional holsters in various places. Pair of 9mm suppressors.
