NotoriousCFR@reddit
That wording is sus. Feels like the "choices" are going to be like, an 8-speed auto and a 10-speed auto
TripleShotPls@reddit
If true, that basically means the next CT5-V Blackwing will get a manual transmission as well. Can't decide if this is surprising or not, though I think the take rate on the current one is pretty decent.
real_fake_hoors@reddit
Holy shit. Fingers crossed they offer it in multiple colors, too.
itsnottommy@reddit
Chevrolet is excited to announce that the new Camaro will be available in eight thrilling colors: black, dark gray, silver, primer gray, flat white, pearl white, maroon, and navy blue.
franzn@reddit
Looking at Mazda too here. Soul red crystal metallic is nice but give me some more fun colors instead of white, grey, beige, and a very dark blue. Give me mariner blue, sunburst yellow, BRG, etc.
itsnottommy@reddit
Coming from a fan, Honda is guilty of this too. Still Night Pearl is their Soul Red Crystal. With a few exceptions, every other paint color in their current lineup is pretty boring.
Equivalent-Battle973@reddit
I would feel like bright red would be an option? THe 2010 ones had some damn cool colors like Synergy green, pullmeover red, tranformers yellow, and the right awesome light blue color.
estephens13@reddit
I once heard Matt Farrah refer to modern color options as the German rainbow and I think about that all the time lol.
Supernova_was_taken@reddit
The funny thing is, the Germans actually have some pretty cool colors. You just have to pay out the ass for them usually
halotechnology@reddit
Please no I love my orange hot wheels color :(
Crush
SenTedStevens@reddit
Don't forget Gr-acing Silver.
zitch@reddit
Aw no onyx? I guess wrapping is the future of decent colors
Paladinraye@reddit
And when they do offer an exciting color it’s gone the next model year…
Mimical@reddit
RIP Sand Colorado's.
RequirementLeading12@reddit
They still have the sand colors on Colorados
Mimical@reddit
Oh damn I thought they discontinued desert sand?
Looks like they have a lighter one called coastal dune. Well that's excellent news! Tan is always such a cool colour for trucks.
Anhydrite@reddit
So many late 90s to early 00s Chevys in tans, kind of want my next truck to be a tan to pay homage to my S10.
Paladinraye@reddit
How I feel about Shock on the Camaros 😢
ThatOldEngineerGuy@reddit
Damnit. I was really hoping for a graphite option.
itsnottommy@reddit
Best I can do is the all-new Fuck Yeah Murica Edition Camaro, available exclusively in extra-cost black paint with Star-Spangled Graphite stripes.
PorTroyal_Smith@reddit
Does that come with punisher decals pre-installed or do I have to do that myself?
Cessnaporsche01@reddit
Yes. And the horn just plays the guitar riff from Bad to the Bone
BeigeChocobo@reddit
Hahaha you nailed the textbook lame stock color palette where even the blue and red are terrible.
sc0lm00@reddit
The Mazda color palette.
itsnottommy@reddit
Saved only by that perfect, gorgeous, sublime red. Every other color Mazda makes is boring as hell.
elkab0ng@reddit
No Bondo grey? 😔
kinkycarbon@reddit
Any color available as long as it is black.
UkonFujiwara@reddit
Coming in the second model year: Gunmetal, pearl white, white pearl, carbon black, and Red™. Please note that Red™ is an EXCITING and RADICAL color, so RADICAL that it has absolutely nothing to do with its name. Red™ is, in fact, a milky-alabaster creamy ivory.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
The American car manufacturers certainly don't have a problem with colors on new performance cars.
Penguinho@reddit
The C8 has had some really good colors so far. The orange is fantastic.
real_fake_hoors@reddit
I’m super excited to see how many shades of grey and silver we get.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
50 Shades of Grey?
real_fake_hoors@reddit
Offered in gloss, metallic, and matte. We also have silver bullet grey, gunmetal grey, ceramic grey, cement grey, and of course if you’re feeling fancy, white.
chargedcapacitor@reddit
Ceramic matrix grey
stakoverflo@reddit
Black AND white!? How will you ever decide
JillierHaroldLamaar@reddit
Chevy has a few nice colors like Marina Blue Metallic, Sunrise Orange, and Radiant Red, so let's hope they get put on the new Camaro.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I hope it isn't a 4 door.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
Current rumors are 4 doors.
Nothing confirmed though.
I do wonder how they will differentiate the Camaro, and the Buick Sedan if the Camaro is a 4 door.
Obviously the CT5 will be the luxury version, but then you have 2 economy sports sedans?
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I suspect the Buick will be like the current CT5 Sport and Premium, rocking a 4-cylinder. The Cadillac will be equivalent to current V and Blackwing, or maybe just a V8. I just don't see the point of Camaro being a 4-door with a 4-cylinder.
FrozenUruguayBallbac@reddit
I feel the buick will probably be what you described, like a comfy living room with modest power, the camaro will be possibly both 2 and 4 door and be full Performance with no luxury just drivers car with the LT4/LT5 engines and the Cadillac will be luxury plat, V series, and then a model called the V with the N/A LTI, and then the V blackwing focused more on the S63 AMG, and the camaro against the M5/M3 which are more driver focused and buick a couch against whatever the fuck is in that space
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
The Buick will sit somewhere between the well optioned Camry and a Lexus ES
argent_pixel@reddit
Camaro will probably get different performance trims but stuff like leather, ventilated seats, heated steering wheels and the like will be locked behind the Cadillac version.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Buicks have leather seats, heated steering, etc. I expect it'll lack the performance aspects like MagRide, no V8. Remember the Blackwing has a hand built LT4 engine which is why it's so expensive. I am interested to see if they swap it you a LS6 or if it continues to get a hand built engine
caterham09@reddit
AFAIK the rumors are 4 door but that they are mulling the idea of a 2 door camaro as well. Supposedly they are hesitant to bring a 4 door sports sedan and call it a camaro (even if it's the same car)
FSUfan35@reddit
GM shared the platform for the last Camaro and the ATS. Which they made in 2 and 4 door variants. I'm guessing it's a 2 door Camaro, a 2 door Cadillac and a 4 door Buick
SummonerSausage@reddit
They did it in the 90s with the Lumina and Monte Carlo. They can do the same thing again, build basically the same car, but change it's name based on how many doors it has.
cedarvalleyct@reddit
Hatchback would be a good choice. I regret selling my SS 1LE, even if my sight lines were hopes and dreams!
itsnottommy@reddit
I wish the rumors weren't pointing to this being sedan only. IMO the Charger/Prelude liftback-disguised-as-coupe thing is the right move here.
elon_free_hk@reddit
Agree. When I rented a Camaro, the trunk opening on the outgoing gen was horrendous.
Making it as a liftback (like my MkV Supra) would be awesome.
Due_Entrepreneur@reddit
The 80s/90s Camaros were hatchbacks, and nobody had a problem with that feature. It's not unprecedented at all, and as you say it would make the car a lot more practical.
The_Bucket_Of_Truth@reddit
You used to be able to say that the Corvette filled this role but now that it's mid engined what you're saying actually makes some sense.
WaddlesJP13@reddit
I think people are blindly assuming it'll be a sedan because one guy saw that it would share a platform with two other sedans and everyone else went with it, forgetting the previous Camaro is related to Cadillac's sedans. It could be a sedan but I feel like a 2 door coupe, 2+2 coupe, or sedan with coupe variant would be more likely than sedan only.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
The rear seat size is no clearly different between 2-door and 4-door Charger, and CT4 rear seat is as tiny as Alpha Camaro. I don’t get why rear door able to catch so many buyers now, adding rear door doesn’t make so much sense unless you can really add more rear room size.
roman_maverik@reddit
That's because half of this subreddit still doesn't understand the distinction between platform and chassis code.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
There's not much sense in a 4 door when Caddy and Buick will be 4 door as well. I think the target in size should be liftback like a 2 door Civic - more usable rear than the Prelude is a must
FSUfan35@reddit
It will be 2 door Camaro, a 2 door Cadi, and a 4 door Buick
atomicskiracer@reddit
Time for a shooting brake
Seeker80@reddit
That can get the 'Nomad' badge.
Mimical@reddit
Man, We have gone so far from the great days its not even funny.
But yeah, Chevrolet Nomad, bring it back baby.
caterham09@reddit
It's not going to be a hatchback. It's going to be a lift back if they go that route
4r4r4real@reddit
Massively regret selling my SS 1LE as well man
cedarvalleyct@reddit
We’ll see! So long as it has a stick mated to that V8 I’m interested. Too bad Dodge pooped the shower with that Charger; Edmunds just slayed the EV version over their year’s review.
funked1@reddit
Me three
cedarvalleyct@reddit
What a gem of a car! Chevy can build a performance car, can’t they?
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
GM is certainly on a roll recently, especially if this pans out.
KMKtwo-four@reddit
If it won’t have Apple CarPlay….
Equivalent-Battle973@reddit
Yeah thats one major reason why I would never get a newer camaro, but personally I really loved the design of the 2010 camaro, but I am biased.
wh1pp3d@reddit
All new GM ICE vehcles have CarPlay
5tudent_Loans@reddit
It won’t. Nothing from GM will unless it specifically becomes a reason sales fall through. Which dealers will actively avoid mentioning or even lie about if they notice the trend
OldRed91@reddit
Especially since Ford seems to be fumbling every chance they can lately.
peaked-at-7@reddit
I mean, no shit? If GM revives the Camaro again and doesn't offer a manual they're morons.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
Originally the rumors were it was going to be an Electric SUV.
So, the fact it will be a manual is very good news.
wootiown@reddit
Good news, it's a manual electric suv.
Outrageous_Sand_8226@reddit
So they took some lexus experiment?
Luis0224@reddit
Treadmill system that generates power by the passengers’ feet i.e. the flintstone
peaked-at-7@reddit
I don't believe the EV SUV rumour at all. That rumour was basically at peak EV-all-the-things time and the Camaro had just recently ended/was ending production. I don't believe GM was ever seriously considering doing it.
DingDingDao@reddit
More manuals available on the market is always a good thing.
Anonymous8630@reddit
Automatic and CVT
cedarvalleyct@reddit
Don’t you dare!
tablepennywad@reddit
Hear me out. You are always in the power band….
MumpsyDaisy@reddit
So good it was banned in F1 they say
Moth92@reddit
It sounded like shit, like when you hit the speed limit of a car in a videogame.
Then again, F1 stopped caring about the sound when they got rid of the V10s.
JangoDarkSaber@reddit
Foregoing progress for “sound”
Something F1 and Harley riders have in common
Moth92@reddit
Not all progress is good. Progress for the sake of progress rarely tried out good. You can have technological progress with v10s.
JangoDarkSaber@reddit
F1 pushing forward the developmental progress of CVTs would have been a great thing though.
This is a case of good progress be stifled for “the vibes”
PEEWUN@reddit
I think you mean F1 fans, mate.
cubs223425@reddit
Actually, CVT for the ICE one and a fake transmission to simulate shifts in the EV meant to compete with the Mach-e.
Relevantspite@reddit
Nah it’s gonna be CVT and broken CVT
No_Bed_7363@reddit
All of the naturals
_Thorshammer_@reddit
It’s a Chevy, not a Nissan.
Vizslaraptor@reddit

RazingsIsNotHomeNow@reddit
It will share a chassis with a new Buick sedan and ct5 replacement, so that will probably means a hybrid option. You might not be all that far off. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if the rumor explicitly stated manual transmission.
Eggith@reddit
This is a war crime
blainestang@reddit
Thanks. Now I don’t have to click the article.

Not sure how I feel about a four door Camaro, but if it can pull it off as well as the Aston Martin Rapide four-door fastback, I might be onboard.

Optical_reality@reddit
I just want my Camaro yellow.
halotechnology@reddit
YES
I want to get yellow but only offered on earlier years
Got orange instead.
At least it's not black or white.
Vhozite@reddit
By far the biggest thing I want from my next car is for it to be yellow. It’s shame it’s so hard to find
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
A new Transformers is reportedly in the works.
So a new Bumblebee isn't out of the question.
Optical_reality@reddit

Temporary_Shirt_6236@reddit
8 speed or 10 speed auto
I know weaselspeak when I see it.
costafilh0@reddit
As long as there is a tremec and a v8 option, they can offer everything else they want as options.
TheSixSpeed@reddit
So we’re getting a an affordable V8 powered sedan with a manual? A good one? I’m a fan.
I know that internally GM is still deciding whether to call this the Camaro or not, and I hope they decide to call this a Chevelle instead that way they can bring back an actual 2 door Camaro later.
That was their original plan with the 6th gen anyway: Have the Camaro be sold alongside a 4 door Impala with the same running gear, like Dodge did with the Challenger and Charger.
caterham09@reddit
Affordable is relative. This will probably be 50kish for a modest spec when you consider the current market. I know this sub will likely balk at that
anonymouswan1@reddit
This will be $50,000 base model that GM won't produce any of. They will produce more fully loaded $70,000 models that dealers will promptly mark up to $80,000+ for the first two years until inventory overflowing.
Then GM will say they are stopping the Camaro production again because the cars aren't selling.
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
Ehh, GM still has to keep the Corvette on its sacred pedestal. Ford has no such car it needs to protect.
caterham09@reddit
I really doubt it. GT mustangs start in the mid to low 40s. It's probably going to have to be competitive or they wouldn't release it. My guess is a pretty well specced option is going to cap out around 60k similar to the mustang currently
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
We will see, could go either way.
Right now, Mustang GT's are seeing some pretty hefty discounts from Dealers($5k-$8k off).
Especially with the new Charger, and the Mustang GT competing, it should help bring the prices down on all of them.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
8 speed auto or 7 speed DCT.
MaybeNext-Monday@reddit
DCT would go nuts tbh
caterham09@reddit
Except for the fact that the one dct gm makes right now is suspect in reliability and is a 20k replacement. I'd rather have a traditional auto if that was the only choice
RichardNixon345@reddit
I'd say they could use the DCT out of the GT500/Dark Horse SC but given that it hasn't been offered in a car under 95k that's probably unlikely.
56killa@reddit
Why would GM use a Ford part?
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
Like the 10 speed automatic that Ford Mustangs and the last Camaro shared?
RichardNixon345@reddit
Because it’s a Tremec part, not a Ford part.
56killa@reddit
I actually did not know that, thanks for sharing that
funked1@reddit
Don’t care about the manual. But 4 doors is a dealbreaker.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
I would honestly be happy with a V8 Manual sedan that is not $100k...
The literal only option right now is the $100k starting CT5V Blackwing.
cthompson07@reddit
I wish my 5V just had a NA V8.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Still absolutely wild toe Cadillac doubled down on the TT 3.5 V6 when they had a 6.2 in the stable.
caterham09@reddit
Cadillac executives thought the lt1 was too brash for the Cadillac brand and wanted a more "refined" engine for the 4vbw. Then they turned around and put the lt4 in the 5vbw for whatever reason
The_Bucket_Of_Truth@reddit
The 4BW motor is childish and stupid sounding when you have the exhausts in the more aggressive settings. It drones too. A V8 sounds way better. Anyway I could theoretically be into a new Cadillac or Chevy sedan with this new 6.7 liter V8 they put in the Corvette Grand Sport.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Nothing says refinement like ditching perfect primary balance V8 for a V6.
funked1@reddit
That's crazy. You could easily calm down the exhaust on the LT1 and it would be fine. If they offered the LT1 in the 4V or the 5V we would probably have bought one.
cthompson07@reddit
The 5V just has a 3.0 TT. Over 100 less hp than the 4 BW. With all the little cost cutting measures in the 4 vs the 5 (no electronic door poppers, non auto windows on all 4 windows, etc), I’m surprised the 5v wasn’t more similar in power to the 4BW.
funked1@reddit
Yeah I get it, we would buy a 4V or 5V if it had an LT1 in it. But Camaros are two door cars period.
norfatlantasanta@reddit
Just be happy we’re getting a sedan at all.
If I were GM I wouldn’t call this a Camaro. Like it or not the Camaro name implies an undeniable track weapon that is excruciatingly hard to see out of and live with on a daily basis.
Call it the Monte Carlo
caterham09@reddit
Supposedly gm doesn't want to call it a camaro if it has 4 doors. They are apparently still debating if they want to do a coupe version and call it a camaro, or do the sedan and call it something else.
nonaveris@reddit
Impala.
funked1@reddit
Chevelle
MachWun@reddit
Just remember guys, the Chevy Blazer was supposed to be part of the Camaro brand!
WhippersnapperUT99@reddit
I hope the next Camaro is more rounded and less blocky-looking than the last one and that they offer a coupe convertible.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
It will still use Tremec, won’t it ? If Camaro would receive MT, I don’t see any chance to see Corvette getting back MT option. GM never want to see Corvette and Camaro too close each other, both car should’ve its clear difference and own positions.
Maybe, we wouldn’t see that Tremec new MT in future Corvette model, but we’re very likely to see it in Camaro.
enfuego138@reddit
Wait, four door Camaro? So, a Chevy SS with a Camaro badge for marketing purposes. Will probably be 4,500 pounds.
No thanks.
hundredjono@reddit
You don't know anything about the Alpha platform
wasapasserby@reddit
The Zeta platform Chevy SS was just under 4000 lbs, and Zeta was an over-engineered steel porker.
A 4 door Camaro on Alpha 2 should be under 3800 lbs.
Seeker80@reddit
It was still good, though. Feels like they could bring back a Monte Carlo as a nice GT on the platform. Sort of a peace offering to the people who miss their FR Corvettes.
enfuego138@reddit
The Alpha 2 V8 cars are far heavier than the last gen SS.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit (OP)
I don't think 4500 lbs would be super realistic.
The current CT5V Blackwing, which is much bigger is only 4100 lbs with tons of luxury features(massage seats).
A 4 door Camaro would probably be similar in size and weight to the CT4V Blackwing(3800-3900 lbs), which is pretty close to the last gen ZL1.
enfuego138@reddit
The CTS5V Blackwing is 6 inches longer than the sixth gen Camaro and has a massive 116 inch wheelbase. Even if they manage to find the 250-350 pounds of weight savings for the new Camaro SS you claim (I’m skeptical), the 1SS manual was under 3,700 pounds and had a 110 inch wheelbase. This thing will feel as nimble as a barge compared to the last one.
caterham09@reddit
The Ct4-v blackwing is also on the same platform and has a wheelbase of 109 inches. And it (again with all the luxury features and 4 doors) weighs 3850lbs.
I think you're making a lot of assumptions that it's going to be some heavy beast. We just don't know much yet
enfuego138@reddit
The CT4 isn’t a V8. I’m going by what they’ve got and the fact that they’re doing a four door because they don’t want to spend money on development (clearly). The CT5 is the most likely comparison.
caterham09@reddit
Except you said the car would weigh 400lbs heavier than the heaviest, supercharged v8 luxury barge car that they offer right now. You're making assumptions about a car that we know very little about
enfuego138@reddit
Ok, you got me. It won’t be 4,500 pounds. It will only be 300-400 pounds heavier with a 6 inch longer wheelbase than the last Camaro SS and have four doors. I’m sure it will be super nimble. I’m sold.
Riverrattpei@reddit
With how small and light the NA LS/LT's (6.2 LS vs Miata 1.8l) are I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the same or lighter than the CT4's turbo V6
