Had flowers delivered to our address but recipient doesn't live here, messaged the company and usual Facebook post. What else to do with them?

Sounds daft, but another my mum is proper stressed out saying "we'll have to go door to door checking with neighbours/the whole street".
It is our address on the label, but no one has ever lived here by that name. My dad never looked at it when he accepted the delivery of the flowers this afternoon (I was out). I've emailed the florist, online UK company, but its a 2hour business hours reply, (no Sundays and longer bank holiday delays). Posted on community Facebook pages to no replies. At what point do we open the box for a card or bin them. My mums so stressed that someone's going to accuse her of stealing them and annoyed my dad took the delivery. Again, he just looked at our address, which was correct.

Oh Ffs just open the card -!- if that doesn’t help just enjoy them. You’ve done everything you can to find the owner at this point.
Recent-Climate6942@reddit
appreciate them before they die

Open the card, if you recognise the name as a neighbour then pass them over or post it on your town FB page, otherwise just keep them. It's the mistake of whoever ordered them or maybe the florist, not your problem to fix beyond that!

cut flowers have at best 3-5 days anyways, so no point sending back.

Enjoy the flowers! 🌺

Note to op: this means looking at the flowers, not eating them. Unless you're a goat, in which case crack on.

Check the card, update the Facebook post with it and put the flowers in a vase. It’s not weird to open something like flowers because they have to be opened to be kept alive. It was addressed to your house so no one can accuse you of stealing

Open the box for a card.
The company is unlikely to come and collect them and they're perishable. They're more likely to just contact the buyer and send out a replacement bunch to the correct address.
So frankly if you don't recognise the name, just put them in a vase.

Neighborhood whats app or FB group? I’m a bit like your mum so personally I would open the card in case there’s useful information but I wouldn’t open the flowers. I’d leave them in the box and see if anything else happens for a while. The sender might realise they put the wrong address if they check to make sure they were received.

not mush to do besides put em on a vase I guess. Mistakes happen, sender should have been more careful

We sent flowers from work to a colleague who had suffered a loss and it turned out that she had given us the wrong address. Her partner ended up going round to the house the flowers had been sent to to explain the situation - so I would suggest that if nothing comes of you posting about it on Facebook groups, just put them in water and wait to see if anyone comes looking!

If I got a random parcel like this I'd probably post the name on the local area facebook community and ask anyone with that name to message me. For anything not too valuable - if it was a Playstation or a new phone, I'd be contacting the sender to avoid some random person going "oh yeah sure that's mine!!"

Open the card and see if you recognise the name, might be a neighbour but someone put the wrong address in.
Otherwise just put them in a vase and enjoy them, they'll be dead in a week regardless of what you do.

You've done everything you need to do. Now put them in a vase.
If anyone knocks on your door, hand them over.

Just enjoy the flowers. Nothing you can do.
