Move the entire human race to the moon, allow greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere to return to pre-industrial levels, then move everyone back.

How long would that actually take

Total surface area of the moon is less than Asia, so time to get cozy.

The moon base fuels the space station. We just add the multiple tiers of poverty back.

That works because we all die. Humans can't live in low gravity long-term and the CO2 will take hundreds or thousands of years to naturally go back to pre-industrial levels or whatever PPM you're shooting for.. Plus, there's absolutely no way to move all the humans to the moon even if you had room on the moon you have no mechanism that can move that much mass to the moon. Like the amount of pollution, you need to create to take all the humans to the moon would virtually destroy the atmosphere Earth in the process. If you're gonna come up with completely fantastical solutions, why not just put like all 8 billion humans in some kind of stasis hero on earth, why transport them to the death trap that is the moon?

I know this is r/CrazyIdeas but the climate apocalypse pseudoscience is so out of control. I really wonder how much destruction from the last 20 years could have been avoided if such a large chunk of the population wasn’t bullied into believing they’re a cancer killing the Earth.

The irony of this comment is most of the mainstream science media reporting are the mild and best case scenario estimates for what consequences we could be facing. Edit, goddamn garbage auto moderator
View on Reddit #85079654

DirtyWormGerms@reddit

I don’t even know what to do about this level of cognitive dissonance. The sheer number of apocalyptic predictions that never came true just goes on and on. This is why I have no pity when you guys lose your mind and start dishing out ultimatums on everything. You did this to yourselves.
View on Reddit #85108852

Augustus420@reddit

You folks only make that argument by including shit that has nothing to do with climate change and sensationalized news reporting about climate change. Climate change is a fact buddy. Stop being so stubborn about a scientific reality.
View on Reddit #85115692

DirtyWormGerms@reddit

What years WAS it acceptable to openly debate impending man made apocalyptic climate change? At what point did the scientific method stop being sufficient before we had to go to Science 2.0™️?
View on Reddit #85123334

Augustus420@reddit

Moving onto another nonsense point after your first one did not work? The science is clear enough to the experts and has been for decades. (Following previous decades of research)
View on Reddit #85123977

DirtyWormGerms@reddit

There was zero substance to respond to, you just declared your position was “a fact”. Case in point, you just declare it’s been settled “for decades” after “decades” of research. You’ve clearly never thought through this or considered what would falsify your position. You just have a bunch of appeals to authority. This is where it always leads with midwits.
View on Reddit #85126352

Augustus420@reddit

My dude, you're the one making weak points that I'm responding to in kind. First you tried to claim there's a bunch of failed predictions by scientists, which there aren't. Then when I rightfully dismissed that instead of trying to bring up specific instances, you switched gears to trying to claim there hasn't been any actual scientific research done. Another nonsense claim backed up by nothing which I understandably dismissed out of hand. You're the one in the conspiracy theorist anti-science position. You have a position that flies in the face of the scientific consensus. If you feel so damn strongly about it you're the one that needs to justify your position. No different than if I was arguing against a creationist or a flat earther. Am I supposed to atart releasing word vomit about scientific concepts you probably don't actually care about?
View on Reddit #85126735

DirtyWormGerms@reddit

“Word vomit” is the only relevant phrase in your entire response. (UN Environment Program) in 1989 warning of coastal flooding, crop failures, “eco-refugees,” and p0l1t1cal chaos by \~2000 unless action was taken within 10 years. James Hansen (NASA) forecasts included more regional droughts and many more extremely hot days in places like Washington, D.C. Maldives and other nations were predicted to be obliterated or underwater by 2000–2019. Claims by Al Gore of ice-free Arctic by 2013-2018 The Guardian in 2004 claiming Britain would have a Siberian climate by 2020. Like I said, the list goes on and on. We’re only limited by the amount of time I want to waste debating a midwit. I never claimed “no research has been done”. I’ll take the fact that you can’t articulate my position honestly as you taking the L quietly.

The moon circumference is about the size of Australia, so building habitat enough for all of the +8 billion humans would require about as much manufactured materials as there is land mass of the continent of Australia, probably more.
View on Reddit #85085039

Excellent-Practice@reddit

The moon's diameter is roughly as wide as Australia. The surface area of the moon is about five times that of Australia

So it's far more building material than all of Australia, right.

Are you sure? We studied industrial revolution at school, and I distinctly remember something big we studied started in 1914. Trust me, I paid attention
View on Reddit #85071887

derbrauer@reddit

I know (sure hope) you're making a joke, but in case you're not...it's been 35 years since I studied it, but I distinctly remember 1750 being mentioned. Let's see what Encyclopedia Galactica says: >Beginning in [Great Britain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Great_Britain) around 1760, the Industrial Revolution had spread to [continental Europe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Europe) and the [United States](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) by about 1840 So I was off by 10 years. 1914 is the commencement of the first "industrialized war".
