i hope people buy them. this is a golden generation of Cadillac with bonafide belters and the best looking EV crossover. I hope they do well
alien_believer_42@reddit
I wanted to buy one once. The dealer just told me they can't. All the allocations were spoken for
dsac@reddit
I also went to buy one once.
Was considering a Lyriq, CT4BW, or a CT5BW. Dealership had both BWs in the showroom.
After checking them out with my wife for 15 minutes without so much as a glance in my direction, a salesperson finally came over. Told the salesperson I was going to pick the one I wanted after the test drive, but based on what I've heard it'll be the 5BW.
Told me "sorry, no test drives for the BW models, but I'll pull the Lyriq out front for you".
I asked them if they honestly expected me to spend over $100k on a car without rest driving it first - salesperson said "well, yes, if you really want it"
Turned around and walked out.
Second worst dealership experience I've ever had (the worst was the same day, at a Ford dealership, where I told the guy I wanted to check out a Mach-E, and he said "no you don't, how about you check out this demo Lincoln Aviator, you'll love it". I was so confused, I sat there for a second and then repeated, "I want to check out the Mach-E, not the Aviator", and he laughed and said "No. You don't.", like it was some jedi-mind trick or some shit.)

I think they do it to “keep the product special”. It’s like how when you go to a designer store like balenciaga and see something you like, it’s rare for people to try on the item firstly in the store. Typically after they decide they like the item they just buy it. I think it’s crazy stuff but I think that’s what some dealers are going for.
iscreamtruck@reddit
I had a similar experience with a CT4BW. I even made an appointment online specifying the exact car and VIN. Dealer tried to show me a regular CT4. Same thing with a type r. People are trying to buy these, they have the money and desire. But the dealerships are tripping over themselves. I bought a 718 instead.
Hybridv9@reddit
i work at a cadillac dealer, and no test-drives on our ct5 blackwings is a pretty standard policy. although theres a near 2-year waistlist for allocation. yes, people ask "do people actually buy a vehicle without ever driving it?" - yes, constantly.
iscreamtruck@reddit
Constantly enough that Cadillac is canceling the ct4bw after this year?
Hocka_Luigi@reddit
I put a deposit on my Blackwing sight unseen while it was still in transit from Michigan. Cadillac has no trouble selling every unit so they don't need to kiss your ass to sell the cars.
verdegrrl@reddit
Since allocation is limited and people are spending $100K+, most folks expect delivery miles, not test drive miles on their cars. If there is enough demand, they will find people who buy w/o test driving.
In my case I found a used version with the seats and transmission I wanted and did a quick spin around the block. That car was in the process of being sold and shipped out of state.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
Often cars like this are restricted to long time supporting Cadillac consumers, buying wise ànd in the sense of doing stuff like showing up to various Cadillac events.
The_Exia@reddit
A Blackwing does not require a special relationship. They are just very limited so getting an allocation is difficult, most dealers will only get one a year.
verdegrrl@reddit
I'm on the west coast and waited 1.5 years to get allocation from a dealer in Indiana on a manual. Dealers on the west coast were sold out.
The_Exia@reddit
I'm in Canada and also waited 1.5 years. My dealer got two allocations and I missed the original 2022 model year and got the first allocation for 2023.
verdegrrl@reddit
Thanks for the info. The Indiana dealer is also a high allocation dealer, which is why I went with them.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
This is a special version. “F1 edition”
The_Exia@reddit
The guy I responded to was not talking about this limited edition with only 26 cars but Blackwings as a whole. They are not special editions but they only make around 2000 of each a year, which is more limited than pretty much any other major manufacturer, so yes they are hard to get, not because you need to know someone but because they just don't make a lot but you could get one if you waited or went to the right high volume dealer.
LongjumpingLock5875@reddit
Yea.
I think that this specific version was probably completely spoken for.
But the CT5V Blackwing in general isn't really limited in anyway.
doctorcapslock@reddit
stupidest shit ever
SteveS117@reddit
Not stupid at all. It’s a business and they are selling limited run vehicles. If you’re a dealer and you only get one or two of these cars, who will you sell to first? A random guy who has never done business with you or someone who has bought two Escalades from you?
Dirtyace@reddit
Find another dealer. You can still get them
alien_believer_42@reddit
Too late for me, I have like four cars
Dirtyace@reddit
Same, I’m dumping my 392 wrangler for it. Way more fun and better built. Still keeping my old TJ and Trackhawk so I’ll have some jeeps left lol.
alien_believer_42@reddit
I think you need to diversify out of jeeps lol. And I have two. I bought a Porsche and damn it's nice being able to steer again.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Cadillac dealers in Michigan get first dibs so they're pretty attainable
TNTyoshi@reddit
They made like 5 of them. So these will just be tucked away in a collector’s garage somewhere.
Barack_Odrama_007@reddit
People wont, it will be discontinued, reddit will bitch.
The_Exia@reddit
It was announced months ago that this generation of CT5 is being discontinued this year, including the Blackwing.
Hustletron@reddit
Might be a bad move if all the European sedans are getting big markups from tariffs soon. Most of the sedans for European OEMs are made in Europe last I checked.
gumol@reddit
they're only planning on making 26 of them
generalright@reddit
They won’t, because Cadillac will cancel this model after it’s run like they do to every sedan. Overpriced, no heritage, poor fit and finish.
Whiteyak5@reddit
False.
Already developing a second generation of the CT5-V BW.
aponderingpanda@reddit
AFAIK they have only confirmed a successor to the CT5, no word on a blackwing.
Whiteyak5@reddit
They'll definitely make another high performance variant. It's easy money for them.
aponderingpanda@reddit
Okay.
mustangfan12@reddit
Cadillac already announced a 2nd gen, they also face lifted the interior and made the interior very good
kstetter@reddit
It is popular though
wwiybb@reddit
They are sold. These aren't for peons like us....
Not_Daijoubu@reddit
I would love to, but I have yet to obtain an income and residence to support a 2-car garage lol.
The CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwings are seriously cool for going against the grain. Also really admire the Chevy SS back when it was available, rip.
real_fake_hoors@reddit
I really wish I saw more of these on the road. Not even the black wings, the ct4/5-v is a great car. I almost bought one before settling on a BMW. And yes I am aware how ironic that statement is.
killshelter@reddit
I’ve seen a handful of blackwings in the road and they are stunning
canikony@reddit
They sound even better.
mustangfan12@reddit
The regular CT5 V is only a little cheaper than the M440i and doesn't have much to standout against the germans
There also isn't much of an aftermarket for the twin turbo v6
yobo9193@reddit
CT5V is a whole size larger than the M440i
chargedcapacitor@reddit
And it comes with super cruise and mag ride standard. And it looks a lot better in and out imo.
EloeOmoe@reddit
I see them in central Texas somewhat often.
Ibuilds@reddit
" It increases the supercharged 6.2-liter V8's output from 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet to a whopping 685 horsepower and 673 pound-feet"
dethnight@reddit
"It's the fastest iPhone ever!"
Thee_Sinner@reddit
So they took the intake filter out?
ArchiStanton@reddit
Pulled the k&n out slapped it against the wall a couple times and popped that bad boy back in there
mimaikin-san@reddit
“never replace your air filter again!”
but you will need a half dozen solvents from K&N to ‘clean’ it
Bobguy64@reddit
Also part of the reason you don't need to replace it is because it does a poor job of filtering the fine particles. While there could possibly be a very slight engine performance boost initially using a K&N filter, long term your daily is going to lose power compared to an engine using a stock air filter that is replaced regularly due to additional engine wear.
DerBootsMann@reddit (OP)
no , just re-run the dyno on camera to make sure they got proof ..
rather_be_redditing@reddit
Tested it on a cool day
redbulldrinkertoo@reddit
MSRP $249,000 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
opeth10657@reddit
This sub complains when the 800+ hp dark horse SC is $100k, but love this when they're estimating at least $150k
mantenner@reddit
A 2 door pony car vs a 4 door practical family sedan? Yeah I'll take the more expensive CTSV and it's plethora of better use cases.
opeth10657@reddit
Yeah, the lowered performance suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R's just scream practical.
For the price difference, you could buy the SC and a normal CTS
kstetter@reddit
If the dark horse was a Lincoln people wouldn't be as upset
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
People forget Lincoln LS exist a long while sadly.
anonymousbystander7@reddit
Manual only. GOAT performance sedan?
Dirtyace@reddit
I ordered one in Feb and I’m hoping to get it before summer. I drove one and it was fantastic. This F1 version is awesome but dealers going to mark them up like crazy…..
chargedcapacitor@reddit
Just get a wrap and a tune, you basically have the same thing.
JesseWest@reddit
Such badass cars... i really wish i had the space for one
USCGTO@reddit
I really wish I had the extra $150 grand for one.
Xperimentx90@reddit
Well you can at least buy a low mileage '22 (with a 6 speed) for basically half of that.
USCGTO@reddit
I own a 5k mile Chevy SS with 6 speed manual. i had been offered $58k for that, even then its hard to spend another $100k and get another (amazing and rare garage queen)
LxBru@reddit
Only 26 being made is a bummer
austic@reddit
I like it honestly. Might consider ordering one. Guess will have to go down the dealership and see how the numbers will be on them
Aptosauras@reddit
$150,000. 26 will be made.
austic@reddit
Price isn’t bad. Just will be trying to get one without a crazy market adjustment
zipzoomramblafloon@reddit
Most powerful black wing so far. I’m sure they’ll make a faster variant in a few years.
gumol@reddit
Did they update it since yesterday?
https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/1t0w1ms/2026_cadillac_ct5v_blackwing_f1_collector_series/
costafilh0@reddit
Looks menacing.
lunaticfridgeprime@reddit
If your idea of excitement is hitting Denny's at 3pm to avoid the dinner rush, then sure.
notasrelevant@reddit
Technically correct, but wouldn't this be only the second tune/version of the blackwing platform? "Ever" seems a bit overstating it, since it's not like there's been multiple versions or generations for comparison.
