Im new to being OTR. It's been 12 years
Things have changed. I picked up a load to come home, delivers Monday. They want me to download a tracking app. Normally, I'd say get fucked you're not making me use my phone for work.
They're paying my bill.
So I kinda should.
But with it being my personal phone, the load tracks directly to my house. Is this a concern?
What if I'm at the bar later? Any of this cause for concern?
My fleet manager is out for the weekend and weekend dispatch is.... what's less than useless?

Sign out of the app. Plus if its tracking HOS, what ever you do on your "off duty" time is your business. So it doesnt matter what your doing as long as your sober upon returning to "On duty status".

Yes, and no. This can become an issue if you were in an accident on duty and your location pings a bar the night before. It’s not an admission of guilt but enough for the plaintiff to subpoena any type of video from the bar to see if you were drinking. If they are paying, go get a burner that will meet their need to keep business and personal separate.

uninstall the app after you make the delivery. my obsessive ass would do this EACH time if i had to, but after the first time you can probly talk to them about a work issued phone etc etc. no big deal. just get it done and pick up the ball on this on monday.

Yeah, they offer enough to cover my bill every month.
Otherwise I'd absolutely complain.
I could just get a cheap burner phone if it becomes an issue.

I used to run into the safety director at the liquor store when I cam home on fridays, they tracked my phone. Assuming you have a company truck they can see your logs and where you were. If your not in the truck and your off duty just say that to them? They shouldn’t care if your at the bar during your time off lol

You got an iPhone or android? Well either should work, just go to your location settings and disable the app's permission when you're at home.
