Frustrated with these bait and switch home insurance quotes mostly by Allstate. When you call them up, the rates are always 3x what their ad said. What's your strategy to get the lowest possible home insurance prices?

the ads are just teasers. NOT a bait & switch.
No one can give you a real qoute without knowing all the details for your coverage.
That is how ALL insurance works - car, home, life, etc.

Mine this year was $5900 with $1.4mm insured value with 1% roof and regular deductible. Home insurance really does suck right now.

That’s about right. Hurts to say this

Allstate bundle with Home and auto has been the cheapest so far for me.
arlenroy@reddit
Progressive bundled with auto and home, for people who can't bundle they're kinda screwed.
BBC911@reddit
I have progressive for car insurance and Farmers for house insurance. Cheaper to do individual policies than to bundle. Trust me shop around every 6 months and every year for house insurance.

Get an agent that isn’t working for just one company. And shop around. You can get quotes online, too, which will often beat with the agents quote. Try hippo or obie and not the big companies like Farmers, State Farm, Allstate. The big firms are diabolical now. Don’t give up. I got an agent that cares and I’m paying less than if I had stayed with the big companies.

Then dont use allstate......?

I’d like to know. I’m being quoted 5k on a 1400 sq ft in east Dallas. Bizzare
ApprehensiveAnswer5@reddit
That’s about what most people I know are paying over here, roughly same square footage. I’m near Garland/Easton.
Mine was $4600 at renewal this year. It was $4350 last year, so up some, but not a huge amount.
I did try shopping around but it was all about the same :\

It's been super crazy for the last 3 years. Feels like an almost 100% hike every single year. I feel like I need to go back to renting. I've been keeping my insurance prices relatively same by cutting down on coverate and increasing deductibles but that's obviously increasing risk on myself.

Because there been rises in claims and rises in material costs this they increase rates based on the number of claims from the year before. Its not a charity. They need to make a profit and just like cost of living has gone up for us, the cost of doing business has gone up for them

Oh noooo insurance actually had to do what it’s intended for
MeatCrack@reddit
Oh noooo, basic business principles…

Pull your LexisNexus file. Something is causing your rate to jump.

Look up an insurance broker to hunt quotes down.
Cryptex410@reddit
find a third party insurance broker. they work for you and can get several quotes and compare them for you. they can also provide advice, like for instance ours suggested getting a $1 million umbrella liability insurance policy which lowered our car insurance rates
Present_Yak_6169@reddit
Go to an agency like Goosehead that has multiple insurance companies to find the best rate
MadScallop@reddit
Have a brand new indestructible roof, bundle with auto, and shop 20x brands.
OkayScribbler@reddit
Statefarm Bundled with Auto has always been the cheapest for me. After two years of shopping around for the SAME coverage on one can get close so I stopped.
