One of my fave skits was the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ one where they had to go undercover and one of the other ‘girls’ (Sabrina?) got to be assigned as ‘The Bunny Girl’. He was pouting and whining that he didn’t get the part.
“I wanted to be the Bunny Girl. Why can’t I be the Bunny Girl?” 😩
Charlie: “….has strong white teeth”.
Benny: “Well I’ve got strong white teeth.”
Charlie: She also has intelligence and good looks.
Benny: “Well I’ve got…. 🥴 strong white teeth.”

Loved me some Kate night Benny hill boob action
oldschool_potato@reddit
How exactly did that happen? I still don’t understand how that got past censors. To this day I’ve never seen any other show do that.

Some places, it was on PBS, and they got away with a lot more than commercial tv could have ever hoped for. Other places, it was on very late at night on local channels, so I'm guessing the pearl clutchers were all asleep or watching something else.
If it had been on at 8 pm on NBC, there definitely would have been a big fuss made.

A good man by all accounts (unlike others from that time), and as I recall he retired comfortably.
Personally I enjoyed the vaudeville aspect of his shows (singing, slapstick comedy, and some dancing)

I still say "not necce-celery".

When someone says something is impossible, I immediately say “incossigle, you say? Nothing is incossigle”.

Watched it all the time. Loved the show even though at the time I did not get all of the references. The fire brigade song is one of the only things I remember aside from the Yakety Sax.

Here in BC it was Friday night UK shows from the PBS channel 9 in Washington State from like 830pm until it shut down for the night🇬🇧
Back then my parents liked going to the neighbour’s or to other friend’s places for cards, drinks and a couple ashtrays in the kitchen on the weekends. I was out by a living room TV if I wasn’t chit chatting or mixing drinks for them. My parents were a bit younger compared to most of their friends, so I’d usually be the only kid my age around and I’d watch whatever I wanted.
Benny Hill, Monty Python, On The Busses, Are You Being Served?Fawlty Towers. Mostly comedies but there was also The Saint or The Avengers every now and then. I’d pick up stuff from the shows and go make the adults chuckle.
For a pre teen in the early ‘80’s, I think it made for a more mature, sarcastic sense of humour along with SNL and Letterman.

Let's not forget The Young Ones!!! ❤️🔥

My super cool grandma introduced me to the show. Such great memories of and with that wonderful woman

I always wondered why the toymaker in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang wasn’t chasing naked ladies around Vulgaria.

My da played in the Army band with Boots Randolph right at the end of WWII. Years later Randolph and his band played in our city, so we went to see him, went backstage, etc. So, when I was about five or six, the creator and performer of Yakety Sax was the first celebrity I ever met.

Few songs have been boosted like “Yakety Sax” was by The Benny Hill Show.

When our Dachshunds (sisters) are playing, bopping and dancing around, the Benny Hill theme music comes into my head. 🤗🤣
heldaway@reddit
Such a good show. I was always surprised they played it on PBS

I joined the American Benny Hill fan club in the early 80s. My favorite merch was a 2" blue button that read "Me and Benny love boobs!" Perfect for a teenager in Middle school.

The leather suit and leather couch bit still make me laugh
tvieno@reddit
My favorite bit was when Benny, dressed as a woman, was being interviewed. She was adding sugar to her tea. As the interviewer asked questions, she kept adding spoonful after spoonful of sugar. After she finished answering, she took a sip of her tea and made a disgusted face, then added a couple more spoonfuls of sugar.

3yrs ago I got the ENTIRE Benny Hill dvd set off ebay. Cost me a pretty penny but I own it!!!!

Best I have found is a "best of" It'll do for now

I searched for a very long time. Finally got a notification from ebay. It's gently used. Some of the dvd cases were still in the shrink wrap.
Hyperocean@reddit
I’ve been trying forever to find a YouTube of the skit where they are dancing around, holding placards with giant single letters on them and naughty things like “TITS” get spelt out for a moment here and there
Echo15charlie@reddit
I can’t hear Yakkity Sax without thinking of Benny.

As soon as someone mentions Benny that song starts in my head.

Bad spellers of the world - Untie!

Always good for a quick nudie shot every few episodes, as a 11-12 year old, this was gold (Monty Python occasionally as well).
Bionic baby was one of my favorites that I can remember that didnt involve females scantily dressed.
Smacking the old bald man on the head was icing on the cake.

We watched it in Detroit off a Canadian station very good memories!
zuuzuu@reddit
We watched a lot of BBC shows in Canada, and we loved them. Late night during a sleepover we always wound up watching Benny Hill.

One of the biggest mistakes early 80’s parents made was letting kids watch PBS thinking there was nothing violent or raunchy for the kids to watch…Benny Hill was dirty as hell!
I learned so much from this man…still pat my dogs on the head like Benny would to the little bald guy.
TheJokersChild@reddit
Your PBS station ran Benny Hill? We had it on an indie VHF.
Bossthree02@reddit
Teenage me loved that show for some reason.

Same (and Im a F), it was on at night like 1130pm for me.
