Building a 50–60 km/h DIY eBike on $1400 – best hub kit + battery + bike?

I’ve got about $1400 total and want to build a fast eBike using a conversion kit (AliExpress, Temu, etc.).
Target:
- 50–60 km/h top speed
- Rider \~80 kg
- Mainly road use
I’m looking for:
- A good donor bike (preferably something that can handle the power)
- A reliable conversion kit (hub only)
- A solid battery that won’t be sketchy or die quickly
From what I’ve seen, cheap kits are fine but batteries can be risky, so I’m trying not to mess that part up.
Any specific kits, setups, or combinations that actually hit those speeds and stay reliable?

Right, heres what you want to do. Buy an electric dirt bike/ motorbike, and do whatever your state requires to make it road legal.
60kmh on a bicycle isnt safe for you or other road users.

I am not old enough to get a license.

Then thats the end of that. Either wait until youre old enough or stick to legal speed restrictions.

That is not the argument you want to bring.
Also riding an ebike in a place where you need a license without can get you in a lot of trouble.

I guess fast is relative. 50kph is doable with basically any 1000w hub motor kit and a 56v battery. 60kph you want either a more powerful hub or a mid drive, that lets you use your bikes gearing for higher speeds

Is a mid drive better than a hub in this situation?

It will give you higher top speeds

Anything with discs, bbshd and a bac855 kit.
