What can I expect when building a car (specifically in Switzerland)

I live in Switzerland and would love to build a car with an older chassis and newer components. I know this won’t be easy or cheap, but I have no idea how much time it will take or how much it will cost. I don’t work in a garage or have any car-specific tools, just normal wrenches, etc.
I would love to hear about the experiences of people who have done something like this.

I'm at 2.5 years on my Datsun resto/build and just got it on the road last weekend. And it's not close to being actually "done". That's working on it every weekend, a lot of week nights, and taking some time off work here and there.

Have you done things like that before, or is this your first car that you've worked on?

I've built cars but never a full resto like this.

I will, thank you

Never too late to start. But you've choosen one of the hardest challanges possible for starters. For this kind of project, you need to fabricate a lot, and for this, you need machines. I'd probably say, start with learning how to weld, learn basics of body pannels repairs and sheet metal work. You can check out YT in my bio, If you want to see parts of a Bodyswap project. Buts start, small steps and build.

How many hours a day or week could you commit to it?

mostly the weekends, and some days maybe 1-2 hours in the evening
