Humpback whale Timmy returns to deep ocean after 41 days stranded

After 41 days of repeatedly stranding in the shallow Baltic Sea along the German coast, humpback whale Timmy has finally made it back to deep water.
An international team of rescuers and marine experts worked tirelessly to stabilize him with medical care and constant monitoring.
Through a complex and carefully coordinated operation, they were able to guide Timmy out of the shallow Baltic waters, full of sandbanks and difficult to navigate for a whale of his size, and into the North Sea.
This morning, for the first time in over a month, Timmy was swimming in his natural deep-water habitat again.
Tracking data from his transmitter shows that after about 7 hours, he is continuing in the right direction, heading toward the Atlantic Ocean.

Do you think he survived? I am not sure anymore. Something seems to have happened, why arent there any videos of his release and why werent the veterinarians allowed to see him before he was released? Maybe some kind of conflict occured? So sad, I thought this was gonna be a happy story.

The whale in the video is not Timmy. Timmy had a dent on his back because of loss of blubber over the last month. The whale in the video has a perfect chubby back.
Strange that for such a big rescue mission with multiple photos and videos there isn’t a single video showing Timmy being released from the barge ?
Ranunculusblooms@reddit
I just saw a statement from the millionaire who funded this rescue, distancing herself from the events leading up to Timmy’s release, saying the barge captain & crew deviated from the plans
Crazy_Werewolf294@reddit
Where did you read this? I am worried about this story, why arent they showing a video of his release..
Ranunculusblooms@reddit
It’s on the Whale Sanctuary Project’s instagram page
Crazy_Werewolf294@reddit
Thanks, why werent the veterinarians allowed to see him?! This is getting weird.
Elmalab@reddit
Deep ocean? They dumped him into the North Sea.
AdAvailable2572@reddit
Wow, reddit never disappoints with questionable opinions. So what‘s going on in your life that you feel the urge of dropping such nonsense statement in the internet?
Elmalab@reddit
They wanted and were supposed to bring him to the Atlantic ocean. But their barge wasn't built for the rough seas. So they dropped him off earlier than planned. Where he is now is still not his natural habitat.
AdAvailable2572@reddit
No, the barge was never built for the deep sea. They explicitly told that they can only operate in coastal areas where the sea is calm. Also it was mandatory that the whale was able to leave the barge whenever he wanted. It even seems like a part of the group had prevented him from doing so earlier but the news is kind of hard to follow since there‘s a new depiction every day or even every hour.
Ranunculusblooms@reddit
They put out a statement saying he was released by the captain and ship crew without approval from the vets/rescue team that had been caring for him.
Makes me sad to think that things didn’t go as planned to ensure Timmy’s chances of survival

Timmy you made it Timmy !!!!!! God is with you in every swim of the way, don’t give up. I am praying for you and have always been since the day you breach on that coast. You have shown that humanity is full of ignorance and dark souls who think that a whale is not worth saving, when you are the reason why our oceans are healthy and have food. All has to be done to save you and your specie. You have shown us all, that miracles happen everyday in such a negative world. You will get with your loved ones soon! Love you Timmy ❤️💙

God is currently busy giving AIDS to babies in Africa. The whale is on its own 🤷♂️

That's Bill "got any antibiotics I can sneak to my wife, Jeffrey?" Gates you're thinking of.
UnifiedPotato@reddit

God reminds them of the abusive/absent father figure that made them this way.

Brother, Humanity and the Push of the people is what Saved This whale, God would have Let it die on the Beach of we didn’t intervene
energyconcious@reddit
The divine is everywhere brother , either you call it god, Allah, Yahweh, Brahman , its all the same. Is that divine energy that is everywhere in the universe. That same energy that had to be woken in people’s inner self to push to save Timmy and to come together to make it happen. Everything is energy brother.

"Tracking data from his transmitter shows that after about 7 hours, he is continuing swimming in the right direction, heading toward the Atlantic Ocean."
Biofelip@reddit
Can you share the source? I've been reading about it and all i found is that they dont have tracking data. The ministry said they asked many times but recieved nothing and the only statement i could find from the rescuers team it's from the lawyer saying that they dont have tracking data.
RipvanHahl@reddit
I'm surprised. German News stated the Transmitter isn't working properly
CatVonBee_@reddit
According to the tabloid "Bild" information: The tracking device has been transmitting since around 3:45 p.m., though only sporadically. It may have been damaged when Timmy was released from the barge. Based on the data received, the whale appears to be heading in the right direction.
flabellinida@reddit
Will he dive if he knows there can be a problem coming back up?
