nowadays that would be unthinkable because dv is illegal but back in the day things were different. without the freedom of "no fault" divorce those victims wouldn't have been able to get out of there. there's a lot of nuance to this topic. humans make mistakes, especially ones that come from an environment in which relationships are dysfunctional. I can't imagine anyone getting divorced for fun as it costs a lot of money and I know for a fact that most people getting divorces simply married the wrong person or weren't ready for marriage and some of them don't even realize it. punishing their mistakes by forcing them to stay in a marriage they don't want won't make anyone happy, especially any resulting kids.

Depends what level of private school. Eton or Harrow Schools outside London are £63,000 ($85,000 US) per year. Realistically a midtier school is probably more like £15-20k for day school (or £45k for boarding) but thats hard to stump up if you are on less than £100k to start with

If you didn't want to take responsibility for the kid you shouldn't have married her mother. You are either willing to step up to the plate and be a father to someone else's kid, or you are not. And you're allowed to decide that you won't, I certainly wouldn't. But then you don't get to fuck her mother. Doing this half-ass job is just going to cause psychological damage to the girl beyond what the divorce already did.
