It's a plane cockpit on wheels
JayW8888@reddit
Is that the original canopy?
WillingnessMean9@reddit
There are a whole two that pull up to my local cars and coffee in san diego, one red and one gray. Never gets old looking at one lol
SpartanMonkey@reddit
I see the cockpit... where's the rest of the plane?
Charming_Passion_408@reddit
Whats the price on the rig?
SlickDillywick@reddit
If you asked me to describe the person who would drive one of those today, I’d describe that man without ever seeing him
Blah-squared@reddit
?? Why wouldn’t you want to drive this??
narwaffles@reddit
from the video, it looks like it is likely to be in Florida and the vehicle doesn't look nearly nimble or fast enough to dodge all the boomers in raised trucks trying to do their thing. It does appear that he stays in parking lots but like the other comment said about the lambo, they're not always safe either. seems like a different reason than what the first commenter tried to imply but it is the real reason not to
Blah-squared@reddit
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to use it as a daily driver or anything, & wouldn’t want to go on the freeway, more like cruising around a lake in the summer.
Personally, I like driving just about anything though, from Model T’s, MG’s, Sport Cars, old trucks & COE’s, old motorcycles & Sport Bikes, to even things like Tractors, Dump Trucks, Semi’s, Front End Loaders, etc…
I like driving, but they all have their time & place.
derHundianer@reddit
Because it is from a company that also produced warmaschines for the Nazis. Thats at least why i would drive one.
akbornheathen@reddit
You take aspirin? Made by Bayer, the company that produced the gas that killed the Jews. IBM was a German company that created punch card ID systems to track citizens which helped tracking Jews. Who took us to the moon? The same guy that created the V1 rocket. There’s so many other things that had significant roles in WWII that we utilize today. You can acknowledge history while still appreciating a good machine. I would drive this car even though I don’t support WWII Germany. VW was born in those times too. The people’s car.
PaulaDeentheMachine@reddit
slight correction; IBM is an American company, they just let the Nazis take all their systems and operations in Europe over
akbornheathen@reddit
That’s crazy lol, you’d think IBM would have torched everything then. That’s even worse.
BurningPenguin@reddit
Idk about IBM, but there were plenty of American companies who were completely fine doing business with the Nazis.
Xivios@reddit
V2, the V1 was a jet-powered missile, I don't think von Braun had anything to do with it.
tommygunn9188@reddit
Even fanta!
SlickDillywick@reddit
Made by coke because they told their subsidiaries in Germany to make what they could and they came up with orange flavored soda (might’ve butchered it a little but that’s the gist of it)
tommygunn9188@reddit
Yes due to the embargos on Germany and out of necessity to keep the bottling plants running, wasn't created by the Nazis but because of
coffee_cannibal_@reddit
Mengelee's family still makes famr equipment
Blah-squared@reddit
That’s why you “WOULD” drive one..??
WJSpade@reddit
Or Porsche.
derHundianer@reddit
Ohhhhhh nonono no no i forgot the not
PianoDave@reddit
If you look hard enough, you can find a reason to boycott anything.
Blah-squared@reddit
No worries.
Psychedelic_Jedi@reddit
Thats an odd take, its not like the moneys going to the 3rd Reich or something lmao.
zzzzaap@reddit
Remember that lambo that got squashed by that truck?
SpecialExpert8946@reddit
Oh I’d have one of those little dune buggy flags on my tiny little car at all times.
Delicious_Context642@reddit
😂😂😂😂 keep the lamb outta this
SlickDillywick@reddit
I never said I wouldn’t. I look remarkably similar to that man
Blah-squared@reddit
Ahh. Gotcha- Yeah, they look like a blast.
Batfink-1999@reddit
I’m pretty sure his name is Klaus.
The tiny ponytail is a dead giveaway.
dividezero@reddit
It's the ponytail. There's always a balding ponytail
SlickDillywick@reddit
My hair is in a ponytail right now. No balding yet tho. And I don’t have a Messerschmitt
Blah-squared@reddit
Yet… ;)
loganman711@reddit
Dude I knew that had one was middle age single and owned a pc repair shop/ vending machine company. Im pretty sure he is what you would describe.
SlickDillywick@reddit
Yep, “old school autist” is kinda the vibe here lol
Hour_Wear_6197@reddit
oculairus@reddit
Wow those silly AI “future retro jazz” stations on YouTube really did have some sort of real world basis… hmm
Blah-squared@reddit
Omg, I wish they still made these.
LickingSmegma@reddit
There's a modern electric scooter model with the same design.
Appropriate_Shirt_10@reddit
It only took one photo to make up my mind that the electric one is turd.
LickingSmegma@reddit
Yeah, I'm sure this thing would work much better for you.
Blah-squared@reddit
They’re really incredible & beautiful machines.. wow.
Thanks-
LickingSmegma@reddit
Yeah, I'm fond of microcars, many of them look very fun compared to the samey modern cars on the streets. Check out e.g. the various Brütsch models.
Fellowfungus@reddit
So the same company that designed the Me-262 designed this? 😅
Ruskiwaffle1991@reddit
Any chance you could stuff two MG 131s in that thing?
IndependenceStock417@reddit
ME175s 12 o'clock!
silverfang16@reddit
I understood that reference
Trazan@reddit
Only if you mount them backwards and use as a propellant.
Podrick_Targaryen@reddit
Where did his legs go?
85K5@reddit
What do you think is making the car move?
Tricky_Mountain_2909@reddit
Magic and hope.
MikeHeu@reddit (OP)
Whiteums@reddit
Is that a second seat behind him, or cargo space?
MikeHeu@reddit (OP)
spky-dev@reddit
It steers like a bicycle and looks like the inside of a submarine. Amazing.
hrminer92@reddit
The company made fighter airplanes a decade before, so they might have reused some of the tooling.
lynivvinyl@reddit
Boy those seats do not look road trip comfortable.
LickingSmegma@reddit
I see they took about the same approach to the second seat as the Caparo T1.
absurdivore@reddit
Those pipes remind me of the 69s era Beetle my girlfriend had in the 80s — the heater or something right around where front passenger feet area was, would burn the hell out of my ankle if I left it in one spot too long 😆
jackparadise1@reddit
Both
lynivvinyl@reddit
It almost has handlebars instead of a wheel does that mean it doesn't turn all the way around? Or does that kind of hook underneath your leg as the length of travel?
DMala@reddit
That is without a shadow of a doubt a design from an aeronautical engineer.
satanpenguin@reddit
Everything except for the lack of wings says "let's go blitz London, Hans!"

truthfullyidgaf@reddit
That would be awesome to drive around in game.
General-Ghoul@reddit
Came to say this
Inevitable-Pie-8020@reddit
How many canons does it have and of which type
leshuis@reddit
Love it
hind3rm3@reddit
Imagine going from making some of the best war planes of the era to making whatever the hell that is.
bobbybrc@reddit
No thanks
Right_Hour@reddit
Messerschmitt went from making one of the best airplanes of WWII to making this, LOL.
PapaPonu@reddit
The world was better when the cars were smaller
djscoots10@reddit
Its got a reverse, that a plus.

noahbrooksofficial@reddit
Id this from the Addams family?
Nannyphone7@reddit
Yes, that's IT
chachaman_The_Reboot@reddit
I swear, i wanna win a big fat lotto jackpot so i can buy MTV, relaunch it, and bring back Pimp My Ride and Cribs, so I can make the vehicles cool again!
DakarCarGunGuy@reddit
It looks like a mechanical Mudskipper.
MementoPrimusMori@reddit
This thing would be absolutely terrifying to drive with all the tall modern trucks and lifted trucks made even taller for no reason driving about
JohnWorphin@reddit
Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June
absurdivore@reddit
Ohhh I thought I recognized it from somewhere!
trolllord45@reddit
What is it from?
LickingSmegma@reddit
To add to the other comment, 'Brazil' is an outstanding film from director Terry Gilliam's best creative era (and co-written with theatre legend Tom Stoppard). Its imagery is fantastic, and was apparently quite influential on later cinema.
Flash24rus@reddit
In my top 10 forever
absurdivore@reddit
The film Brazil
Harry_Tuttle@reddit
We’re all in it together.
Frymonkey237@reddit
My complication had a little complication
LickingSmegma@reddit
Yup, afaik this was the four-wheeled FMR Tg500 based on the Messerschmitt Kabinenroller.
st0pmakings3ns3@reddit
omg and the paint job too on that electric KR, I am infatuated.
LickingSmegma@reddit
Personally, I'd pick different colors, although I'm a fan of two-tone schemes overall: e.g. the Parmalat F1 liveries.
coffee_shakes@reddit
Holy shit. I didn't know that particular car in Fallout was based on a real one.
Ellisrsp@reddit
Road & Track used to do an annual April Fool's edition where they'd do a light-hearted, humorous review. One year they did a head-to-head comparison between a Mustang (the P-51 WW2 fighter plane) and a Messerschmitt (the micro car)
bannedByTencent@reddit
Brazil
pregnantdads@reddit
the front looks like a flounder lol
icleanjaxfl@reddit
Sounds like he's on his way to mow somebody's lawn
Substantial_Diver_34@reddit
Seems safe. How is it on the highway?
MikeHeu@reddit (OP)
It has a 9hp 173cc two stroke engine with a top speed of 80-90 km/h (50-56 mph).
I’d stay away from highways.
2xdareya@reddit
I’m not sure I’d want to take it up to 60mph. Trying to steer it, or god forbid hit a big pothole, at that speed would be terrifying.
AscendedViking7@reddit
That is so cool!!
justawaterisfine@reddit
You actually have to have a ponytail to operate these.
Speartree@reddit
It's not a Na'vi vehicle.
hrminer92@reddit
The passenger in the back seat can yank on it to get the attention of the driver.
StarConsumate@reddit
Bethesda had to have used this as a reference for one of their vehicles
Fitmature1@reddit
So cool!
0bfu5cator@reddit
Yo, how is he driving that without grinning ear to ear the entire time??
domiciledhere@reddit
That’s the car where the whole engine goes in reverse when it goes backwards?
Latter-Vacation-4392@reddit
must get pretty hot under that bubble on a sunny day
WJSpade@reddit
Rose, there’s a Messerschmitt in the kitchen. Clean it up, will ya?
THC_Gummy_Forager@reddit
Beat me to it by 13 minutes! EZZZZZZ Ez muneeh.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
Wasn't there also one of these in the Fallout TV show?
lynivvinyl@reddit
Has anyone LS swapped one of these yet?
hrminer92@reddit
This is apparently what the cool kids swap into their mini cars these days.
https://www.jalopnik.com/2158055/harley-davidson-screamin-eagle-milwaukee-eight-swapping/
airfryerfuntime@reddit
Lol what is this slop? That's an article about literally nothing.
2PlasticLobsters@reddit
I WANT ONE!
It'd be totally impractical & I couldn't afford to keep it up, but still.
AccidentalGirlToy@reddit
A car for today's gas prices.
Fli_fo@reddit
If people weren't so keen on going fast and luxury this car would be much better for the environment. Less fuel. Less recources to bild
Consistent-March-646@reddit
Messrschmitt!? As in the same Messerschmitt that built the BF 109 and the ME 262, that same Messerschmitt!?
Fli_fo@reddit
jawohl
mutrax_be@reddit
Watch out for lifted trucks!
Apexnanoman@reddit
I kinda wanna see one of those with the engine from a CBR600 swapped in. 10 times the horsepower would make it really uh....lively.
saphirenx@reddit
I remember reading that you had to kill the engine and then start te engine in reverse to drive it in reverse, but this one seems to shift from reverse to forward gear without shutting the engine down.
Did I remember wrong, or is this a different model or spec?
emax4@reddit
Same company that made jets?
RawChickenButt@reddit
The car's origin lies with Fritz Fend, an aeronautical engineer who designed small "invalid carriages" for disabled veterans. He approached Messerschmitt to mass-produce a two-seater version of his design, the Fend Flitzer, leading to the creation of the KR175 in 1953 and the more famous KR200 in 1955. These three-wheeled microcars, dubbed "Kabinenroller" (Cabin Scooters), featured aircraft-inspired designs like tandem seating and plastic bubble canopies. Production continued until 1964, after which Messerschmitt returned to the aviation industry.
K340@reddit
What losing a world war does to a mf
hrminer92@reddit
Certainly had lots of potential customers at least
emax4@reddit
Good thinker, and thank you for the history on this!
tomato432@reddit
yes, they were prohibited from making aircraft after the war so they turned to microcars, sewing machines and the same sorts of prefab house kits MAN made after the war
Ruskiwaffle1991@reddit
Yes, that Messerschmitt.
superfly355@reddit
The ME-262 is one of my favorite aircraft of all time. Thing was wild for it's time.
MikeHeu@reddit (OP)
Yes
emax4@reddit
I only knew the name as my grade school had a book on jets and I thought the design was striking. Thank you!
slanderpanther@reddit
What’s the rollover survivability rate?
BlackSwanMarmot@reddit
Weirdly, it’s not listed on the brochure.
BalanceFit8415@reddit
I see the Fokker.
-vwv-@reddit
KABINENROLLER!
Xeelef@reddit
There are actually new ones! Fairly expensive though: https://www.neue-kabinenroller.de/en/
challenge_king@reddit
30k-40k USD for the ones on the site. That's a very expensive city scooter.
absurdivore@reddit
My neighborhood has banned gas powered lawn trimmers so I assume this would be illegal here 😆
DaveB44@reddit
Pleased tell me you're joking!
absurdivore@reddit
Well I am joking about the rule applying to an automobile. But yes our municipality has banned gas powered blowers and trimmers etc because of noise. Like any other towns have done.
challenge_king@reddit
I hope it's just new purchases, and not all gas powered trimmers. That'd put a huge financial burden on anyone that can't afford a still relatively expensive electric lawn care setup.
WhatANoob2025@reddit
Sarge, I can't feel my legs.
Son, you have no legs no more.
YVRkeeper@reddit
Sounds exactly like I suspected it would.
Corny_Snickers@reddit
Reminds me of the jetsons
AJPennypacker39@reddit
Imagine the luftwaffe flying around in those
threwthelooknglass@reddit
threwthelooknglass@reddit
I've seen one of those! This was twelve years ago
khamm86@reddit
Looks like a car flying car from the jetsons and a smart car had a baby
lewisfairchild@reddit
lol this is what a storied aircraft company is reduced to when in the hands of a genocidal war monger with an insecurity complex.
Greenfieldfox@reddit
Solved the gas crisis.
JIDeveroux@reddit
Oh shit it's cousins it's car
Inexona@reddit
Modok is in Avengers: Doomsday? Didnt hear about recasting but looking much better.
Wonderful_Maybe_2395@reddit
Wonderful ! I love it. It was built after the war in the same factory where the Me 109 and Me 262 was built. We call it „ Snow White's coffin „ 😉 . The modell tiger was also driven in races. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Kabinenroller
Land_of_smiles@reddit
I’d love to have one of these. Swap a gsxr750 motor in the bad boy and give it the beans
brianishere2@reddit
Apparently inspired by a fish.

I never thought the Flea from Fallout could actually be a real car…
