SAMSUNG 990 Pro w/ Heatsink Question

Hi all, I wanted to ask if there is any guide/way to remove the stock "heatsink" that comes with the SSD. My SSD temp has been hitting 80\~86ยฐC and I wanted to make sure the thermal pads are touching the ssd

I'm on the same boat, I wish I had chosen the one without the heatsink! I have a way better one on my Strixย B650E-E box but I can't use it to preserve warranty ๐ . I tried to mitigate by placing a 140 cm fan on the 990 pro as best as a could, and it improved temps, now max is 69-70, while before it reached 76-81. The default one it's really bad I think!

damn i wish i had space.. sadly my build it in a Fractal Ridge :โ)

why did you choose that case? It's really miniscule! Maybe with a little one? https://www.coolerguys.com/collections/40mm-fans

I like the small space it takes up haha

All is a compromise! Less space for us, more space for out beloved components! ๐

Removing the heatsink will void any warranty that may still be valid. There is zero reason why the thermal pads on a drive with a heatsink would be not touching. Pcie4/5 m.2's natively run hot

Oh is it normal that itโs hitting 80~86 degrees? and any idea how I can help lower it

Get some airflow over it with a fan if your case allows it or change the slot on your motherboard depending on your system configuration

iโm running a SFF build (Fractal Ridge) so space is limited ๐

check my DIY solution. You could use a smaller fan if there is little space.
