Ours was Weezer’s “Only in Dreams”.

Ours was Weezer’s “Only in Dreams”.
caramelcoldbrew@reddit
Graduated in 1999 so I’m sure you could guess what mine was.
CalliopeKB@reddit
Same here
mentul77@reddit
Also 99 but ours was Don't Wanna Miss a Thing.
StillyMcDaniels@reddit
Nookie?
withbellson@reddit
That was my college grad year and we heard it a looooot. I’m amused every time it shuffles up in iTunes. Used to be a song about the future, now it’s charming nostalgia.
Local-Painter-1237@reddit
2000, zero, zero, party over Oops, out of time So tonight we’re going to party like it’s 1999!
ThizGuyFawkes@reddit
Graduation by Vitamin C?
pizzabirthrite@reddit
'99. It was that nostalgia prom band, Green Day.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
lol, I’m sure they would love to hear this sentence about them… yet I know exactly what you mean lol
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
I dropped out...no prom for me. Oddly, I've never regretted that.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
I’m sure you missed nothing lol.
I was more interested in music side of the question lol
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
I would have been class of 1995. I know the class before us did "Forever Young" by Michael Bolton. Ugh.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
lol, what an odd transition the 90s were.
Also if I knew those were the theme songs, I probably wouldn’t have gone just based on that lol
Primary-Strawberry-5@reddit
People actually went to the prom?

What the fuck is a prom? I tested out like any respectable xennial.
Hour-Philosopher8719@reddit
Good Riddance - Green Day
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
Yes this was constantly played indeed
Yellow_Curry@reddit
Stairway to Heaven. It was dumb because how do you slow dance to that weird long instrumental section.
lumberjackname@reddit
Ours was also Stairway To Heaven. Most awkward song to dance to. You’re all hugged up and then suddenly need to switch gears. Somewhere I still have the little prom program thingie, it has a gold embossed stairway on the front.

TALieutenant@reddit
Didn't go to prom, but our (2001) graduation song was "I Will Get There" by Boys II Men.
snowboard7621@reddit
Time of Your Life. (I don’t think anyone knew it was titled Good Riddance which was maybe more on point lol.)
fattycatty6@reddit
They played this at my kids 8th grade graduation 2 years ago😆
TheF1na1Countdown59@reddit
That was our graduation song, and I thought it was ultra-appropriate. LoL
_FLostInParadise_@reddit
Same here. Half the class wanted it because they didn't know. Half because they did.
sooonnnk@reddit
i feel like at least 2-3 if my school social events ended with this song
veepeedeepee@reddit
They played the Bloodhound Gang’s The Bad Touch at our prom, which to this day blows my mind.
AdoraSkater@reddit
Hold My Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish. Or so I was told, I never went to any of my proms. For those who said I'd regret it- jokes on you!
jenbenfoo@reddit
We didn't have one but "our song" I had with my boyfriend at the time was "Amazed" by Lonestar. I distinctly remember hearing it at some random dance I went to that he was unable to attend with me and crying in the corner because I missed him so much lmao 🤣
deadphish5868@reddit
Some crappy N’Sync song.
TheF1na1Countdown59@reddit
"Save the Best for Last", by Vanessa Williams.
Class of 1999. This song was just common sense. LoL
kronik419@reddit
Probably wasn't the "official" song...but the best and most memorable was a song about undergarments. Thank you Sisqo.
freshcreator@reddit
We had a class song not a prom song. Class of 1998 and our song was No Woman, No Cry - Bob Marley.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
lol, that’s a wild choice. How’d the ladies feel about that?
freshcreator@reddit
We all loved Bob Marley. We were a city full of stoners back then lol.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
Totally fair. As a dude, I can relate to the song. But as a school I’d pick something else.
RedDawnWlvrines@reddit
Is there a song called “Enchantment Under the Sea!”
burnerburneronenine@reddit
It’s the End of the World As We Know It

Junior year Lady in Red. I think it was In Your Eyes senior year. Both were already a bit old at the time, come to think of it.
eroded_wolf@reddit
Prom is supposed to have a song?
BronskiBeatCovid@reddit
I have never heard of anything like this. Is this some kind of regional thing?
SlackerDS5@reddit
If it did have a song, it’s dead and buried. Right where it belongs.
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
Yeah some had a final theme song or something. Or someone else mentioned it being called something else like year theme song, but don’t remember.
poodog13@reddit
This was my thought also. Don't think that was a thing for us.
GaspSpit@reddit
I was not allowed to go to Prom so I have no idea.
Bradtothebone79@reddit
That song still hits hard
Rasputin1916_@reddit
I think it was something stupid like "I don't wanna miss a thing" by Aerosmith and this is rural Nova Scotia in 2001.
CheesyRomantic@reddit
I don't think we had a dedicated prom song. But I do remember at the end, almost everyone was gathered in a huge hudle/circle swaying/dancing to Stand By Me.
I watched from my table.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
I didn't go, but I think it was Time of Your Life by Green Day.
I had much more fun at my middle school dances. The last song was always Stairway to Heaven
Grammarhead-Shark@reddit
We don't do Proms in Australia
But at our Valedictory (Gratuation) dinner, we choose The Angels 'Am I ever going to see your face again'
litchick@reddit
Senior Ball was Green Day - Time of your Life
Constant_Concert_936@reddit
I could swear it was the Thong Song, but most likely it was “I Hope You Dance” or something like that. Can’t quite remember.
nocleverusername15@reddit
My class song was the Thong Song. Like printed in the year book so we can see it 26 years later and know it wasn't a hallucination.
981GTSF90M5F87M2C@reddit
Dude, Thong Song is the first one that popped in my head! Graduated in 2000.
FatReverend@reddit
You guys went to prom?
TriciaTargaryen@reddit
Amazed by Lonestar. Missouri, class of 2000!
KoRaZee@reddit
There was one particular song in 99 that took over
Fair_Blood3176@reddit
I have no idea I was busy getting blacked out drunk somewhere else.

Dangerous-Volume8305@reddit
Titanic came out my senior year. Knowing that, you know the theme, which was also the song they played every half hour... 🙄
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
How this movie was permeated into our culture at the time was so nauseating lol.
TeaTime2424@reddit
I wouldn’t call it our “prom” song, but our senior class song was “Into the Great Wide Open,” Tom Petty.
And now my son is going to prom tomorrow. 🫠
RoundTheBend6@reddit (OP)
That’s a great song.
Thanks for reminding me to take my medicine lol

TryTwiceAsHard@reddit
"This Is the Time" and in quotes "To Remember". So like, or prom was To Rememberand the song was "This Is the Time".
Local-Painter-1237@reddit
We had an “Ocean of Memories” the year Titanic came out. My dress was even a deep sapphire blue with a corset-style top and full skirt- absolutely loved it. Anyway, 3 guesses what our theme song was…

1999 Dru Hill- These Are the Times 2000 Case- Happily Ever After (Or it was reverse, but either way, those were the songs.)

We had a graduation assembly but no prom song. At the assembly they did a whole thing around Alphaville's Forever Young, which was a weird choice considering what it's actually about.

purplelilac701@reddit
It began with Ghetto Superstar
Significant-Style-73@reddit
Angel of Mine - Monica
instant_ramen_chef@reddit
I went to 4 proms from 96-98
I never knew a prom had a "song". I dont even know what that means.
LAffaire-est-Ketchup@reddit
When I was in school, prom was an AMERICAN thing. We did not do “prom.”
False-Cookie3379@reddit
It was supposed to be a country song called “back in the day”. I was in charge of the music for our prom video, there was no oversight, we were a bunch of nerds that stayed out of trouble. I downloaded the only “back in the day” song I could find, by Trick Daddy. It played while we had a slideshow of baby pictures and such. Oopsie daisies.
Negative-Wrap95@reddit
I skipped it
FiveCrappedPee@reddit
No idea because I didn't go. I was a fuck up and participating in things wasn't my thing. I would have had to do 6 years to graduate and called it quits after that senior year.
ZestycloseProject130@reddit
November Rain was our homecoming song. That guitar solo cured soany confused adolescent boners.

Save the Best for Last by Vanessa Williams

"Saved the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams, although as class of '99 they also had a huge response to Prince's "1999."

I left prom early

We didn’t have a prom song. We did have a senior year theme song though.
