It's a micro aggression aimed at keeping the black fella down in his place, a sign of the caste system in the US where black people form the bottom of the pyramid.

> virtue signaller whiteknight vs. a calm retelling of a story that anon wasn't offended by
Classic American karen.
SipoteQuixote@reddit
Ive had that with my whole hispanic self, I was talking in Spanish and said that some other hispanic called me mojado (wetback) because I was eating tortillas with my lunch (funny story, we all laughed) but this white chick popped out of nowhere and was like "I know what "mojado" means and that a rude thing to say." Lady, you only know one word of Spanish and its to virtue signal?
ChichCob@reddit
We don't use Hispanic anymore, it's racist and offensive. You have to use our progressive word, "latinx," and if you don't, you're basically a fascist. You really need to learn more about you're culture, sweaty.
8aller8ruh@reddit
It’s so ironic because all native spanish speakers despise that term as they have such a gendered language, the x is straight up disrespectful & not how they would have made it plural.
SipoteQuixote@reddit
I always change it into Latin X, superhero gone rogue.
DarkMatrix445@reddit
Latin x latin
SipoteQuixote@reddit
That 3rd arc dragged on forever but a good manga either way.
RecordEnvironmental4@reddit
Anyone who uses Latinx is purely virtue signaling because if they had even a basic understanding of the Spanish language they would understand that Latino already includes everyone.
OcelotSlight7892@reddit
What’s luh-tinks?
Taldius175@reddit
Nothing. What's luh-tinks to you?
Japan-is-a-good-band@reddit
My favourite racial slur
ChichCob@reddit
It's a progressive way of referring to Latin people. Because Spanish is a gendered language and since gender isn't real, it's offensive to LQBTQIA+ folx, so we have change the language that's been around for hundreds of years to make it more progressive to fit our values. I don't see the conflict between this position and other positions I hold. /s, if it wasn't clear
OcelotSlight7892@reddit
Im familiar with the term. This is a 4chan sub I was just joining in the fun.
appolzmeh@reddit
The best way I had it explained to me is that white women used to be a victim class but ever since they got the right to vote and work with men as equals they have been the most privileged class especially over the last couple decades. This leads to them constantly virtue signaling so they can feel as though they were victimized by the racism even though they have absolutely no room to talk given their position in society.
Harpoon_Torpedo@reddit
Wtf are you talking about
appolzmeh@reddit

Yes I recall my girlfriend often reminiscing of her marching days back in 1912. She got real uppity when I went to war and she had to work the lines after the tojos hit us. Then...oh boy the 60s was a rough patch.

soma16@reddit
I thought mojado was one of them cocktails with mint and lime?
Dammit_Meg@reddit
That's a mojito. You're thinking of a fish, usually fried.
SipoteQuixote@reddit
Mmm mojarra
Supremely_Zesty@reddit
That's a mahi-mahi. You're thinking of a desert in nevada
SipoteQuixote@reddit
In normal context it means wet, but the 2nd-4th generation Hispanics call other Hispanics that crossed "mojados" for the same reason as "wetback".
LordHersiker@reddit
I am Spanish (as in from Spain) and the first time I heard the term "wetback" it was watching Sons of Anarchy, where the Mayans got called that on a regular basis. What's the origin of the term? I could never guess it through logic.
Steve_Conway@reddit
Mexicans crossing the Rio Grande River (that separates the US from Mexico), entering the US illegally.
Riggahz@reddit
It's a derogatory term for people, but mostly anyone living in a country south of the Rio Grande who cross the US-Mexico border illegally.
djaqk@reddit
Yo Hispanic bro, what's a funny insult or line I can say in Spanish that isn't racially charged, but would slightly piss off / ideally defuse tension with absurdist humor between teammates. I run into a fair share of South Americans who barely speak a word of English in my dota games, and I need something that'll simultaneously shit on them a bit but also get them on my side when I yell andale amigos as we charge into a fight together. Weird request sorry lol
SipoteQuixote@reddit
"Pendejo" is always a good one lol it means dumbass with a think a higher sting but its something you would say to your friend for doing something stupid.
Pikassassin@reddit
It didn't occur to me that word had a direct translation. Huh.
8123619744@reddit
Thanks for the new slur buddy
SipoteQuixote@reddit
But of course, use it wisely.
colostitute@reddit
We had some white girls in middle school going around and saying piso mojado. We convinced them it was an ancient Spanish phrase that translated to wishing someone safe travels.
One of them may be anon’s white knight or yours.

Yeah. I still wouldn't say the N-word though. Not because it'll upset white people, but because its just not worth it.
hinstsui@reddit
erlend_nikulausson@reddit
Man has zero chill.
FinGamer678Nikoboi@reddit
Yeah that's just being nice. No need to purposefully use a word that may cause any harm to anyone. Especially when there's only like a handful of those words. Not like they're needed in any sentence.
TalosSquancher@reddit

Le_monde_est_a_nous@reddit

Good_Smile@reddit
Just some linguistic sugar that's all
ender89@reddit
The problem is that generally black people never see a white person using it as innocent or without malice.
Just singing along with a song that uses the n-word can lead to problems, and consequencely songs which use the n-word can become flashpoints for racial tensions.
I say just stop using it, the best way to prevent it from being used as a racial slur is to see that it dies.
A_Stoned_Smurf@reddit
If people stop putting it in songs I'll stop saying it when I sing along. Can't stop my white ass.
richtofin819@reddit
Yeah It just raises the issue of things like if I buy or I'm paying for a service to access a song why would I based on the color of my skin not be able to sing out loud the song that I own or am paying to have access to.
KaiFireborn21@reddit
I'm not sure that it's a good idea to decide whether it's "fine" to say slurs depending on the person who said it. I don't know, I myself don't prefer to call myself by slurs against my race and sexuality... Why should it be fine if I'm the one saying it, it keeps the word alive and sparks unnecessary division
ender89@reddit
Exactly
2FLY2TRY@reddit
You're right, you should drop bitch and slut in a sentence while talking to your female boss at work. As long as it's not in a malicious context, I'm sure nothing bad will happen.
SweetTooth275@reddit
I've been saying that for years. Context is always the king.

ender89@reddit
Controversial opinion: using the N-word while maintaining that it's a taboo for basically everyone else is the only reason the n-word is still a racially charged slur.
There are a metric fuck ton of racial slurs for black people that have faded away to the point that anyone using one sounds like they grew up in some kind of incest fueled hillbilly compound.
Let the n word die, let it be forgotten, let it fade away to the point where it no longer has power over our society.
Or change the meaning to be positive, which is sort of already a thing, but realistically there's a lot of ways that even black people use it as a slur and frankly I think it just needs to go.
CommercialSpray254@reddit
Yeah i can't see that happening in our generation. It's forbidden fruit af which makes people just want to say it more.
Vimanys@reddit
It is my belief that all of this focus on specific words was deliberately encouraged to avoid tackling actual inequalities in US society. I mean, really and truly, are people there ANY less racist since the furore over that specific word, and are African-Americans any less disadvantaged than they were before the big social justice crusade of the 2010s? As far as I can see, it's only made racists want to use the word more than they have since the 60s because of the added pearl-clutching.

You can tell that OP never actually talked to a real person by their use of the term “beta orbiters”
Marchus80@reddit
Actually that's pretty reasonable.
The usual social compact is if there's something I can do that another person finds distressing and they ask me to stop, its usually polite to stop.
Can hardly have a word be so offensve that people get fired and cancelled for saying it and then expect those same people not to feel uncomfortable when it's bandied around.

Entirely different context and situations dude, how many braincells did you use to come up with this comment?
Hackeringerinho@reddit
Lmao what =))) ok, don't strain your many braincells.
Foolish_Hepino@reddit
What she did in this (probably fake) greentext is going up to a minority and saying "Since I don't like this word, you, the person who by all rights should be allowed to use it, shouldn't use it".
She is absolutely allowed to be uncomfortable with it as a natural reaction since she's white and probably doesn't even hear the word much anyways. But to argue and double down agaisnt OP feels honestly racist and entitled.
The same way it feels entitled for someone who isn't queer, to shit on an LGBTQI+ person who uses the word "queer" for themselves (like what I'm doing here.)
If OP was calling someone else by the word, it'd a lot more understable, but he's calling himself that. Like come on.
She placed herself above his feelings, he didn't place himself above her feelings.
So not, it's not actually better if the races were flipped, and the situation here isn't what you're trying to imply.
Pikassassin@reddit
He isn't even calling himself that, he's describing someone else calling him that.
strawberry_semenade@reddit
This reminds me of an interview that some white guy did like 25 years ago with the creator of the Boondocks where he said "you really use the n-word a lot in your cartoon" and he basically said "well I hear that word all the time whether I want to or not, so if it makes you uncomfortable that's your problem".
bdrwr@reddit
All anon had to do was loudly call her racist and she would have had a white guilt meltdown
Riggahz@reddit
Against a white woman equipped with SSRI's that'll do nothing but get him accused of sexually harassing her while the three orbiters and the fridge back her up.
I'm ashamed of the series of words I just wrote
Catnug@reddit
I was telling a story to bunch of black coworkers and said the nword. I didn’t realize I had said it until I was about to the end of the story. I stopped and said shit sorry guys they responded with finish the story. Turns out if you use words in a non derogatory way people are way more lenient. Myself I think either it should be fine for everybody to say or nobody to say.
LemonFlavoredMelon@reddit
I don’t like being called it, mostly because it feels weird as a white guy and it feels like it’s intruding.
