Sea-Situation7495@reddit
It's the great big stone building just behind the Bride and Groom.
Mankyswan@reddit
National scandal that this isn’t top comment
Zealousideal-Ad5107@reddit
It's a mosque now

A top level comment (one that is not a reply) should be a good faith and genuine attempt to answer the question
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
Of course it is.
And everything was better when I were a lad, and everything's terrible now.
lee_meadows@reddit
In the first photo, the couple are in a doorway - the church is behind them. In the second photo the church is centre of the photo. Middle of the photo running top to bottom.
CanidPsychopomp@reddit
In the first picture it's behind the nun
aenimiac@reddit
I think it might be St Mary's in Badwell Ash
https://www.badwellashheritage.co.uk/badwell-ash-history/st-marys-church-badwell-ash/
https://maps.app.goo.gl/Vb8nY8YC2hUC65Je7
The entrance and tower both seem to match
dannywhack@reddit
Definitely is:

Highlord_Salem@reddit
Well done. Looks spot on to me.
BugAdministrative683@reddit
This has to be it.
continentaldreams@reddit
Ding ding ding this matches
soulsteela@reddit
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say “ it’s the building behind the 2 people 👍”
Front_Society1353@reddit
It looks very similar St Peter and St Paul's Church in Lavenham?
rohepey@reddit
No, read earlier comments.
General-Still-8136@reddit
Ai says
St John the Baptist Church in Badingham, Suffolk.
Looks very similar from a quick mobile comparison
Least-Funny7761@reddit
It’s behind the couple
alphahydra@reddit
St Mary's Church, Badwell Ash?
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
Thank you. The images fit perfectly, and Badwell Ash makes sense because it's near where we lived. Now to find out who was getting married.
Old_Pomegranate_822@reddit
If you have a date - or even a short window - the church should have its own marriage registry, possibly now transferred to the local council.
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
Actually, just before this wedding, there's some footage of Mann that my brother shot when he went there for the TT races. I hope he can remember the year he went there, because that will give us the date of the wedding
WhatTheFlup@reddit
Your brother shot him?
Why, what did he do?
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
Not him, it. And that footage had it coming. Sooner or later someone was going to shoot it
BugAdministrative683@reddit
Uncle Kevin and Aunty Carol.
Splodge89@reddit
I think it’s a law in the UK to have an Aunty Carol. I have two!
SuspiciouslyMoist@reddit
Good luck with that. I was going through some old photos with my Dad.
"Oh, it's a wedding. Who is it? Oh, I think that's Bob and Carol."
"Was that in the church in Tonbridge? I think so. I didn't go to that wedding, I wonder who took the photos."
"No, I definitely wasn't there."
"Oh, it's a photo of me."
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
I have now identified the bride as Gail Tilsley, and her mother as Penelope Keith. The 1970s fashions make everyone look like actresses from that era!
MMSTINGRAY@reddit
Yeah when I found that one I came to the same conclusion, pretty sure you're right.
imperfect_and_tense@reddit
Few-Proposal-4681@reddit
Right in the middle, taking up most of the image. I’m surprised you can’t see it.

It's St Mary's Church, Kersey
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mary%27s_Church,_Kersey
BugAdministrative683@reddit
I don't think it is it. It's different.
continentaldreams@reddit
Check out the second link - it matches the photo perfectly
BugAdministrative683@reddit
It doesn't. In the still from the video, immediately above the doorway, there are two horizontal lines. There aren't on the linked photo.
Ok_Interaction3016@reddit
The video is from the 70’s lets not forget. The recent images are presumably just that.
Check the pyramid grave(?) near the entrance on the 70’s and more recent images.
continentaldreams@reddit
Ooh you're right. It's pretty close though!
BugAdministrative683@reddit
Right sort of style, right part of the world...
MMSTINGRAY@reddit
Tower is differente and different features. Similar style though.
I think it's this one
https://www.badwellashheritage.co.uk/badwell-ash-history/st-marys-church-badwell-ash/
NotAProperAccount3@reddit
Yes, even down to the grave stones, this looks spot on! Well done!
Prior_Instruction410@reddit (OP)
I thought so initially, but the tower is wrong, and the details around the door don't quite match. It looks like they were working from the same design book though.
continentaldreams@reddit
Yeah another user pointed that out. It's remarkably similar!
Prestigious-Salt-245@reddit
Hundreds of churches are remarkably similar
continentaldreams@reddit
Thanks captain obvious!
DrMaxMonkey@reddit
I thought this was St Peter's in Henley, Suffolk I can see you've been given the correct answer now - man there are lot of similar looking churches.
devil_toad@reddit
Ok, so in the first one, it's occupying the top 4/5s of the image. In the second, its in the centre half.
abstract_groove@reddit
I can’t help with the location but that photo would make a brilliant cover for an acid folk album.
Sea_Pomegranate8229@reddit
It's the big grey thing behind the bride and groom.
What_A_Helmet@reddit
Could be st Margaret's in Ipswich I used to live there. Looks identical. The tower is directly above the entrance.
MMSTINGRAY@reddit
Pretty sure it's this one. Has nearly all the features from both photos
https://www.badwellashheritage.co.uk/badwell-ash-history/st-marys-church-badwell-ash/
TyphoidMurphy@reddit
Even that toblerone shaped gravestone is the same as OP's picture. Best chance yet.
Itchy-Armpits@reddit
Right in the middle
Imhonestlynotawierdo@reddit
It's the church in Pulham in norfolk you can see the fairly unique windows in the picture here
MMSTINGRAY@reddit
No, people are just getting similar ones.
I'm pretty sure it's this one
https://www.badwellashheritage.co.uk/badwell-ash-history/st-marys-church-badwell-ash/
It has actual similar features rather than just similar at a glance
quiet_control909@reddit
The church entrance is completely different. The one in the film has a series of vertical lines filled with what looks like flintwork. The one in your image doesn't have that at all.
Imhonestlynotawierdo@reddit
There was significant restoration work to the church including repointing and replastering but I think youre probably right
Optimal-Room-8586@reddit
I don't think this is correct.
In the OP's photo you can see a dark rectangular shape directly above the door achway, presumably a window of some sort. This is missing the Pulham photo.
Also, OP's photo has two large windows on the front of the porch, which are entirely absent in the Pulham one.
BugAdministrative683@reddit
It's not this either. Look at the shields immediately above the doorway, they're not there in the film still.
Gone_For_Lunch@reddit
The window on the tower is different. As are the crenellations at the top.
imperfect_and_tense@reddit
These bits aren't the same.
palmerama@reddit
The flint is very Norfolk
Imhonestlynotawierdo@reddit
and the same structures on the bell tower in the second picture
Lost_Ad1589@reddit
In the first image, it's directly behind the bride and groom
grubbygromit@reddit
https://maps.app.goo.gl/DmyC88ov8WJht4XS9 I think this is it.
MMSTINGRAY@reddit
Hijacking top comment because I'm pretty sure it's actually this one
https://www.badwellashheritage.co.uk/badwell-ash-history/st-marys-church-badwell-ash/
quiet_control909@reddit
It's close. But the window in the bell tower is a different design, and there isn't a series of smaller windows above the main ones in the main body of the church. There are also square designs either side of the doorway in your one, but not in OPs film.
Really close in terms of style though.
aenimiac@reddit
It's missing the horizontal lines on the tower
continentaldreams@reddit
That's not it either - similar but just slightly different
Poonchild@reddit
Wow. Nice one. That looks identical.
deviousrich@reddit
have you tried https://findpiclocation.com/ or https://picarta.ai/
frlawton@reddit
St. Mary’s Church Badwell Ash perhaps?
Scotto6UK@reddit
I reckon you've got it spot on there.
wybird@reddit
It’s St Mary’s Church, Worlingworth (Suffolk)
Front_Society1353@reddit
Somewhere in Suffolk or Norfolk looks to be the style common there
Imhonestlynotawierdo@reddit
It's the south porch of St John the Baptist Church in Metfield, Suffolk
