If calories didn’t exist, what would be the first thing you’d eat?

I eat whatever I want despite calories, because I don't have a fucking eating disorder. Go for a walk.
Flying_worms@reddit
I think being aware of calories is just a reality most adults have to deal with. If you have a fast metabolism good for you lol. My MIL is 74 and 5 foot tall and her maintenance calories are about 1400 a day. There’s no way she can maintain a healthy weight without some kind of restriction.
dope42042@reddit
I'm 5'8 and maintenance is still only 1600. people overestimate how much they burn
Flying_worms@reddit
Yes the 1400 takes into account she is lightly active. If she was completely sedentary it would be about 1200.
Ambitious-Elk-3350@reddit
Bullshit. 5 foot 1, and yeah you can't eat pies all day but you can walk, exercise and not eat shit.
I don't have 'a fast metabolism ' or 'good genes', I eat properly and weightlift. "No way they can maintain a healthy weight" is just excuses.
Flying_worms@reddit
Yeah, I think that was the purpose of this post no? The fact you can’t eat pies all day?
And I said no “no way they can maintain a healthy weight without some restrictions”. Which is what you just said yourself. So sounds like we agree?
West_Yorkshire@reddit
One of those Madeira cakes from Lidl which are about a 1ft wide

My diet wouldn't really change much to be honest. We cook everything from scratch though and I think 90% of takeaway and convienence food etc is tasteless crap
Klichouse@reddit
Uranium
spoo4brains@reddit
Not my top choice for final meal.
stoufferthecat@reddit
Still my favourite ever Amazon review.
Aggressive-Waltz1126@reddit
Why was this also my first thought?!
Klichouse@reddit
In my experience calorie content to delicious is pretty much linear. The food of kings
cowbutt6@reddit
My first impulse is ”cakes and desserts”, but I'm of an age where I need to watch how much sugar I consume, which presumably would still apply even if the sugar was free of calories. Likewise for starchy carbohydrates - e.g. pizza, which would probably be my second choice (pizza would also be high in fat and salt, and displace foods with more nutrition from my diet).
So I suppose my eventual answer is probably red meat: which would probably translate to burgers and well-marbled steaks.
Namaste_Life@reddit
Calories don't really exist, except by consensus.
Aggressive-Waltz1126@reddit
For me its not about calories, but about nutrition. I eat whatever I want, I'm just also mindful to make healthy choices where I can. So if I'm just hungry with no cravings I'll go for fruit or nuts or something like that.
I'm also lactose and gluten intolerant, so if they didn't exist I'd definitely eat all the cake!
Klichouse@reddit
If you're eating healthy it's actually very difficult to eat 2500 calories of fruit, vegetables, pulses, lean meat.
It's just that fat is delicious
Aggressive-Waltz1126@reddit
And processed sugar! Donuts were amazing 🥺
handysmith@reddit
The only reason I'm not eating a Matilda-style chocolate cake right now is because there isn't one nearby.
And the calories.
Aggressive-Waltz1126@reddit
The gluten and lactose 😭😭😭😭😭
LaurenNotABot@reddit
Cookie dough or cake batter
ldn-ldn@reddit
A full marathon run burns over 3,000 calories. Eat whatever you want and then go for a lengthy run.
Honorable_Dead_Snark@reddit
Would eat at least 10x the amount of cookies I currently do
Imaginary_Finger7844@reddit
The only thing is Pizza.
Crazy_Plum1105@reddit
Fibre (or lack there of) would still exist
Imaginary_Finger7844@reddit
Fun ruiner.
Flying_worms@reddit
McDonald’s Milkshake!
I love them but they are SO calorific.
AlishaTayl@reddit
a big, fat, juicy burger would be at the top of my list
Neddlings55@reddit
Id have beans and cheese on toast every single day.
OneDay_OneLife@reddit
Depending if vitamins and minerals were also a thing.
AlarmedAlarm626@reddit
The biggest pizza I could find
Current_Thing2244@reddit
Mine would be the same because nutrition and the like is about more than calories.
