CWS recovery report.

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit but I am fuckin pissed off.
My sister came home to tell me she got her car back in near tears.
She told me about the person at the desk.
The lady was fucking rude to oblivion.
My sister was charged over 100$ FUCKING DOLLARS BECAUSE THE CARD FUCKING DECLINED the lady told her that was the reason.
She called my sister stupid on the loudspeaker because she didn't open the door correctly, and was cussing before that.
And my sister had to wait 45min outside within the gate because a car was blocking the way of her vehicle, she was not allowed inside.
And to top it all off her vehicle was unable to go past 20mph and set off a lot of alarms for what was wrong with the car.
This literally cannot be fucking legal right?
Hearing that shit pissed me off, the site has a 1.8 rating with over 200 reviews. I am fucking PISSED.
Could this be reported? Anyone who gets towed to this fucking area be warned.
creepingkg@reddit
Last time I got my car towed, my had my last $100 inside.
When I got in my cash was missing, gave an email to complain. Never got an answer.
The next day a tow truck almost ran me off the road.
Either the towing stole my cash or the front office did when they went to get my wallet out the car.
The only way I see anything changing is some type of class action lawsuit

This company sucks. They towed me from my friend’s apartment complex during the 10 minutes it took me to get from the parking garage(where there is no cell signal) to his apartment to register guest parking.
I went to pick it up the next day and it took 5 hours to get to my number in line. Employees were rude and had no empathy or sense of urgency in the slightest. Nightmare company.
NomadicAltar@reddit
This towing company is predatory as fuck
kurt103118@reddit
that towing company towed my boyfriend's car and hour and a half after the fire department towed it off the highway after an accident, while we were still in the hospital getting him checked out. then wouldn't let him get his shit from the car, so he lost everything that was in it
wthwtfwthwtf-_-@reddit
They all are and most people know it...but just kinda toss it on the list of things allowed as normal that will absolutely bite everyone later.

They all are

First time?
But seriously, that does suck and is probably illegal, definitely exploitive. However, it is of absolutely no surprise. When I was 18, I was the dumbass who got her car towed from Deep Ellum. Needless to say, I’m 40 now and I’ve been super diligent about never, ever having a reason to go back there.
noncongruent@reddit
Same here. Although I’ve been diligent enough to assure that I never got towed, the friction involved in parking in Deep Ellum is so incredibly high that it’s just not worth it. I haven’t been to Deep Ellum in over 20 years, and the last time I went, I couldn’t even find a place to park. I needed to buy a tool from the bicycle shop that was there, but after driving around and only seeing parking spots that were more expensive than the tool I needed, I ended up spending at that time a couple of dollars in gas and drove to Bedford to get the tool I needed.
MsBlueBonnet@reddit
I totally understand the parking issue is frustrating. I have my favorite haunts and I frequently go see live music so in my wise age I have learned to be strategic. I *usually have luck finding a meter which is a couple dollars at most. Granted it does take time and determination to circle and find parking. If I have to surrender to a pay lot, I stick to the spacious ones on the outskirts, not the shitty ones in between businesses. I hate that DE gets such a bad rap- some of it is founded but most of it isn’t. That’s a discussion for another post though lol.
KitchenPalentologist@reddit
What caused the car to go in to limp mode? If she can get documented proof that the tow damaged the car, get a repair estimate, and take them to small claims court.
Snobolski@reddit
Tow company: "it was like that when we picked it up. What proof do you have otherwise?"
car owner: "uhhh"
truckstripper@reddit
I buy a lot from tow companies. 99% of the works at the front desk are rude pricks. Never understood it.
rcbbcr@reddit
Defense mechanism, they deal with confrontation all day so they aren’t able to show weakness
Snobolski@reddit
Maybe if they weren't predatory assholes they wouldn't have to deal with confrontation all day.
Trespeon@reddit
Imagine every single person in your day to day life at work is yelling and screaming at you for something you had no control over. They are a receptionist and they take ALL of the flak for who, why and when that persons car was "stolen" from them. Whether it was rightfully towed or not.
After a while your default is going to match that of what you are used to.
YaGetSkeeted0n@reddit
i imagine some of it is a sort of self-selection. if you're a rude asshole you're not gonna get very far in most customer-facing roles. but in this role you have all the power. the customer can't just go to another place to get their car back lol
Snobolski@reddit
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) regulates tow trucks.
Its_the_other_tj@reddit
I've had to get my car out of a few shitty tow yards and helped friends get theirs back many many more. Sadly your sister's experience sounds about par for the course.
Hundreds of dollars to get the car out, and god help you if you're low on funds and need time to get the cash together because it just gets more expensive every day it sits there.
They like to charge (or liked to it's been years since I've dealt with them) for miles towed, and the lot just so happens to be on the other side of the city from where they picked up your car so that adds on quite a bit.
The person behind the glass is always rude and condescending as fuck.
Oh and their tow guys are almost exclusively idiots who have no idea how to do their jobs so I'd say about 75% of the time (IME) the car comes back with some sort of damage, usually a busted bumper. Sadly it makes sense when you realize they aren't hired because they know how to operate a tow truck, but instead because they are willing to put themselves in a situation where they basically steal someones car and then hold it hostage every day.
texan01@reddit
yup, I had my car towed because I did park it in the wrong spot, and this was long before smart phones and GPS, I was calling them to get the directions to the place, and all the said was it was off NW Highway. It took about 10 minutes of her cussing and spitting before she finally told me the cross streets and near what major intersection it was so I could find it.
She was just as pleasant in person as she was on the phone.
Ok_Software2677@reddit
I had a voluntary repo years ago. The vehicle sat in front of my house waiting for over a month to get picked up. I made several calls to the bank asking them why it wasn't picked up. Then finally one day it was gone. However, the tow truck driver, I assume flatbed backed into my brick mailbox and damaged it. Then shortly after I got a call from the bank covering some details, then he asked me how the vehicle got damaged. I'm like WHAT DAMAGE? The tow truck driver also damaged a rear quarter panel at some point. Then I tried to contact the recovery company and see what happened. The guy was lying all over the place. Said they had been trying to get it for weeks and that I kept hiding it in the garage. Those guys are absolute pieces of crap.
amhsmh@reddit
The VSF is not allowed to charge any other fees like that. Please see the official government website to check the fees they are allowed to charge: https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/towing/compliance/vsf/fees.htm
Dawnzarelli@reddit
Use this as reference to request a chargeback from the bank
GuairdeanBeatha@reddit
Expect a midnight “repossession” if you do a charge back through the bank. The tow company will, of course, have no knowledge of what happened to your car.
Charimia@reddit
Read into Texas tow code, if you think there’s any reason at all the tow was illegal according to that, you can get a tow hearing, it’s you, the tow man or his representative and the local judge only. They usually side with you if you have a decent case. It could be as simple as the sign that’s required at EVERY entrance for a tow enforced lot being 2 inches too low or the wrong color. Come with all costs and receipts lined up, because if they rule in your favor you can then make a case for all costs, lost time, and damage accrued due to the illegal tow. I think I charged him the per-class tuition for a college classes I missed because of the tow on top of the tow fee.đź¤

ALoudMouthBaby@reddit
This is the real answer. Trying to beat towing companies at their on game is how you lose. Doing this though? You not just have an opportunity to win, but you also get to drag them into court and make them spend their time and money.
nevermore0069@reddit
This company is known for moving a car into a towable-offense at apartment complexes, then snapping photos, and towing the car. These places and their drivers/staff are scum of the earth.
MeatCrack@reddit
Good fucking luck. Towing companies are not known for their upstanding business practices. Could be a solid life lessor for your sister to put her big girl panties on. When they have your car, youre fucked and have no choice to pay. Why did her car get towed?
WhiskeyTangoBush@reddit
I don’t want to paint with a broad brush here, but every single tow truck company in the world exclusively employs miserable, incompetent thieves.
TacosNGuns@reddit
Contact TDLR and file a complaint. https://ga.tdlr.texas.gov:1443/form/Complaint
I would also reach out to your county government and complain there as well.
RabbitGlass5578@reddit
This is the best answer…
TacosNGuns@reddit
Yeah I had an illegal tow in the 90’s. Filed a TDLR complaint and they refunded the towing fee. Enough confirmed complaints will get their license pulled.
Neither_Tiger7712@reddit
Imagine wake up in the morning, walk up to your parking spot just not to find your car , and it's at Good Night lane. This fucking front desk bitch sits behind a bullet proof glass, and she thinks that will protect her. These people piss off enough people in DFW and sure one day all hell will break out. The worst part is that they damage your car and will never pay for it.
I hope the worst happen to drivers who camp outside and tow people card for a minor infraction, like expire registration, which they don't even have authority to do so.
CementedOpinion_989@reddit
Amen! Unfortunately, we have had a similar experience with CWS and “the lady behind the glass”. lol. They have a tow contract with the businesses around The PIT soccer fields in Plano and pick up and drop dozens of cars at another tow yard in Plano. They rip/drag the cars out of parking spots and then their “partner in Plano” line them up at the tow yard using antiquated fork lifts modified with tire lifting devices. You’ll spend hundreds getting your car out and be left with a very negative view on predator towing for $$$’s.
3Time4Eater3@reddit
That one has been around a long time. It would not be conspiratorial to say them and the city/county have had an unethical partnership. It's been seen before
jlwins@reddit
This one is so exceptionally bad
tukai1976@reddit
Why was the vehicle towed? If she’s getting back a repo, she can call the lender file a complaint who then reaches the vendor who contracted them to investigate for damages.
Agoddess_aboveyou@reddit
You can report to the bbb but they probably don’t care. Or just report for fraud or some shit
No_Ad_4709@reddit
You can request a tow hearing with the county https://www.dallascounty.org/Assets/uploads/docs/jpcourts/5-1/small-claims/REQUEST-FOR-TOW-OR-BOOTING-HEARING.pdf
Pony2013@reddit
Man not for nothing but tell your sister to grow some balls man. Tell her to match their energy next time, IF there's even a next time.
Ill-Consideration443@reddit
There’s literally a sign right next to the front desk on the right that shows where you can report them.
