I've had to do this before. Middle of the night, nowhere to park but the pumps are empty. Drop and swap, run inside to take a leak, and we're gone in less than 15 minutes.
You think people would pull up anyways? Get to watch them pull into the pump go take a shit. Loiter in the store, grab their microwave noodles, go back in the store and microwave them, go to the truck and eat them, finally get out and detail the living fuck out of the windshield even though its raining. I dont know what happens after this part I usually did a massive swing out and fueled when the good guy peterbilt had the decency to pull forward and take a leak.
This is probably a drop and swap though last year I had to do something similar when my radiator decided to explode when I was passing by a truck stop. Had to pull in fast as the engine was yelling that it was going to shutdown, thankfully the pilot wasn't too busy and I got another driver from a local DC to come get my trailer while I waited for a tow
As everyone else has said, this is likely a drop/swap. I used to meet a driver at a QuikTrip just outside of Charlotte around 03:00 and it was always jam packed. We frequently had to do the swap at the fuel island.

Yeah those stations that don’t provide enough space to pull AHEAD of the pumps and force you to park at them are the worst. You’re a trooper.
wiggle-wagon@reddit
You're assuming that I don't. Something like this is a last resort anyway and I don't do it often. But I appreciate your encouraging words.

What location?

Everybody complains that I leave my truck blocking the pump to go shop and take my 30, now what’s the problem

Relay drivers doing a drop and swap. Probably late night, nobody at the pumps..

Looks like a switch point, we do ours in the middle of nowhere though....
trucksarekewl@reddit
Yea with a meet and turn sometimes ya gotta get creative. We do ours in the middle of the day so theres way fewer drivers packed in there.
Cardinal_350@reddit
Going to guess this is a meet and turn. Oddly done at a fuel island. Place doesn't seem busy I guess but would be my first choice to do it there
