Romania: Alba Iulia, Băile Herculane, Caransebeş, Oradea, Arad
Bulgaria: Vidin, Montana
Albania: Shkoder, Gjirokaster
Kosovo: Gjakova, Prizren
Serbia: Novi Sad, Zrenjanin
Montenegro: Herceg Novi, Budva, Cetinje
Greece: Western and Northern Peloponnese, Parga, Thermo, Sivota
Slovenia: Maribor, Celje, Novo Mesto
Croatia: Šibenik, Imotski
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sarajevo, Tuzla
+ Any town or village with stone houses that's not Split or Dubrovnik. :)
Most of these except the capitals mentioned are rarely ever talked about but seem interesting on Street View and photos.
Live-Imagination1350@reddit
I wouldn't say that sivota and parga are underrated.
riquelm@reddit
Budva underrated 👀
NoHawk668@reddit
Funny, I've been around, much more than average people travel, However, out of all of these places, just in Sibenik and Arad. Once I've passed through Caransebes and Baile Herculane on the way to Bucharest, but this doesn't really count.

Thanks, this proves my point those are underrated :) Google Street View is perfect for discovering gems like these.
NoHawk668@reddit
Yeah, I'm having Baile Herculane on the list of places to stay at. I'll also take a look at places in Bulgaria too. So far, I've been only in Balchik, Varna, Nessebar and Veliko Tarnovo. Well, and stopped couple of times in Ruse, for lunch.

Serbia - Zrenjanin is just shitty 😁 Novi Sad is not underrated it is second biggest city in the country that people often visit
tetszik@reddit
Zrenjanin is more beautiful than Novi Sad
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
It has a Central European Habsburg vibe in its old town. I find it pretty. And I think there is a Slovak minority around which is a plus.
Shitty I would call Leskovac, Niš, Pirot and Southern and Eastern Serbian towns in general. Bad architecture there.
amazingamy19@reddit
Pirot is actually not so shitty.
amazingamy19@reddit
Zrenjanin is in fact, not shitty.
timisorean_02@reddit
Eh, Zrenjanin is OK. It's the largest city close to the border with Romania.

Sebia ✅ Croatia ✅ Bosnia ✅ Montenegro ✅ Slovenia ✅
The rest is not interesting for me. I want to go now to east, I want to visit the Belarus and Russia.
Antique_Birthday6380@reddit
I mean, there are places in the Balkans that are often much more attractive than, say, “Sebia”.

What's underrated in Vidin bro, its full of gypsies and the poorest region in Bulgaria. Unfortunately it went to shit long ago.
pitogyros@reddit
I liked vidin , yeah it has its flaws like any other part but visiting it for couple days you don’t feel the negatives.
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
True but the old synagogue and the fortress are standouts. Most Bulgarian cities have none of these.
kenjara@reddit
Any coastal or even better island towns on Croatia is full od stone houses...some od my favorites, Groznjan, Motovun, Rab, Sibenik, Primosten, Stari Grad na Hvaru, Komiza, Korcula, Cavtat
Playful-Piccolo-8213@reddit
Grožnjan is the most beautifull place i have ever have been to.
My bedroom had a direct exit to the stone wall encirceling it. Morning coffe on the city walls wa incredible.
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
Thanks for this list! I love stone architecture.
kenjara@reddit
There is much much more, almost any, take a tour on Google maps and enjoy :)
CommunicationNo4547@reddit
Gjirokastra, Novi Sad, Budva, Cetinje, Sarajevo
pinkybatty@reddit
Budva and Herceg Novi and Novi Sad and Sibenik underrated 🥀 this just seems like some silly influencer list from someone whos never been lol
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
In my country most people can't point to Montenegro on a map to save their lives and haven't been there so yes, it's underrated as a travel destination.
EccentricCantelope@reddit
I've been to Shkoder a few times! It's quite beautiful and I liked it a lot. The castle and museum are quite nice, and there are some good restaurants. There's not tons and tons to do if you're just visiting as a tourist, but I'd like to go again and spend more time around the lake.
timisorean_02@reddit
Oradea is not underrated by anyone, to be honest. Arad is, but, that's all for a reason.
buffaal@reddit
What reason?
timisorean_02@reddit
It's in Timisoara's shadow, from many points of view.
It has much less to offer than the previously mentioned city.
Agreeably0192@reddit
Sivota, Parga, Pelloponese and soon Sarajevo
