Ah, the Daily Fail.
I have been watching this story for a bit. We will see what it turns into. It would be funny if it turned into the equivalent of what Abbott wants to turn TX into. Sort of like the Orthodox communities in NY.
Reluctantziti@reddit
I mean I live near where this will be and what dumbasses don’t understand is that it’s already like that and it’s fine. They have entire strip malls and clubs and neighborhoods already majority Muslim. Where if you drive through you see people in all kinds of strict dress. And the world keeps turning. They don’t bother me by existing. They’ve added some great coffee shops that when I visit I’m treated with respect. It wouldn’t even register this is an issue if Islamaphobic bigots didn’t make it one.
desolatenature@reddit
I can’t imagine being scared of diversity. Diversity is literally what makes life interesting. Staying in your own little bubble forever like so many people in these comments must be super depressing. I guess they’re just turning the self-hate outwards on innocent communities like these
Reluctantziti@reddit
I grew up in a rural bubble and you get so bored inside that bubble I swear it’s why so many people turn to hard drugs as teens and adults.
inkydeeps@reddit
And most of those strip malls were empty parking lots with no businesses prior. It’s absolutely revitalizing east Plano.
South-Succotash-6368@reddit
Not the same because unlike Orthodox, Islam values are against the foundation of america. We don't need america Turning into the UK where muslims beat people in the streets.

Goose, meet Gander:

lovkesec@reddit
no thanks... islam is incompatible with the west
Flaky_Breakfast_64@reddit
Actually, your polarizing ethnocentric statement is incompatible with American values and what this country was founded on
lovkesec@reddit
lol. Muslims oppress an entire gender and their false prophet wanted his followers to kill all other religions. Incompatible with the west
Penguin_FTW@reddit
So do Christians. Christians in political office are passing laws that literally kill women and children. And yet I've never seen any pearl-clutching about the churches on every other corner or the fact that the community around them is so inherently Christian-cultured that it doesn't even get acknowledged, like water to a fish.
Really the biggest thing Muslims and Christians disagree about on women is just the dress code.
datdouche@reddit
Such a false internet warrior equivalency. Go live in Iran or some other actual theocracy and lmk how women are doing compared to here lol, where “Christianity” is “oppressing” them.
But yes, it’s a shame we aren’t more pro-choice here. We can always be better.
bingbong2715@reddit
You say this like it’s purely a Christian vs Islam dynamic and not more complicated geopolitical dynamics
datdouche@reddit
To you and anyone reading this, I want to say sorry if I sound hateful. I agree it is complicated. There are definitely shades of grey, but people have trouble calling a spade a spade.
bingbong2715@reddit
How does someone who thinks like you even rationalize the crusades or witch trials or monarchical domination of the world for centuries using the devine right of kings as justification? Do you just bury that as deep down as you possibly can?
Traditional-Ant-9741@reddit
Agreed. Seriously sick people on this site.
datdouche@reddit
They’re seriously approaching deranged. I’m no fan of the borderline theocratic behavior of *some* Texas politicians. I detest the regressive tendencies of Dan Patrick, for example. It also bothers me that, as much as I like Talarico, he still has to lean into the whole churchy thing.
But to respond “wuddabout Christians” in response to legitimate concerns about the fundamental natures of Islam and women, globally and locally, is just the apotheosis of braindead and the death of critical thinking.
So many Redditors purport to hate all religion, but they have exclusive hate boners for Christianity. And because the religious right dislikes Islam, many on this site find themselves aligning with Islam in almost an enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend kind of way.
They should have some conviction and be the real equal opportunity religion haters they pretend to be. I’m glad this site is not reflective of the mean of people and values in this city.
Penguin_FTW@reddit
Women have higher rates of literacy and college education in Iran than America. I really do not think you want to actually hold up that mirror.
datdouche@reddit
I’m sure those numbers are reliable and honest 😂
Penguin_FTW@reddit
Rejecting the premise outright should indicate to you your biases, but yes please go on living your life without that google search but retaining all the smugness. Surely that's the best way to live.
datdouche@reddit
You made the claim. I’m not rejecting your premise necessarily, but I would honestly doubt Iran’s self-reporting of those stats. That’s perfectly reasonable. If you blindly accept them as an undeniable pReMiSe, you’re certainly welcome to. But I’d question your judgment. Happy Friday!
Penguin_FTW@reddit
This is significantly more effort than it would have taken to google the premise and look at Wikipedia. But yes, surely EVERYTHING out of Iran is PURE PROPAGANDA. With ZERO truth to be found! You're so smart to be wary, but wowee those America numbers must be great because our regime would never lie!
Fuck me man, literally expend a single ounce of effort.
datdouche@reddit
Do you have a legitimate reason to doubt American- or American-agency-reported data *more* than Iranian-reported data?
Greedy_Car3702@reddit
Yeah right. Women in the degenerate red states are treated just like the women in Afghanistan.
PresentlyMinded@reddit
Reddit cries about the handmaid's tale, then actively supports mass immigration from the only religion that's similarly oppressive in the 21st century
Penguin_FTW@reddit
All major religions are pretty demonstrably cancerous. It just doesn't make any logical sense to hand-wring and pearl-clutch and fearmonger about the one that isn't actively passing restrictive and harmful legislation in my country. You wanna cry about Muslims? Hold that energy for every single Christian politician and candidate who is actively doing the thing you're pretending to be upset about. Otherwise miss me with your feigned outrage, 17 day old Reddit account.
PresentlyMinded@reddit
You'd have to be a disingenuous idiot to not see the blaring differences between modern day Christian Nations and Muslim nations.
Everything you hate about Christians, is clearly worse with Islam.
Penguin_FTW@reddit
Clearly worse? Please name all of the Islamic-based policies in America that have been passed in the last decade that actively contradict the Consitution and also actively harm people. Because I'm pretty sure your list is gonna be shorter than the list of Christian policies being pushed by fascists.
Your imagined boogeyman doesn't measure up to the actual real problem America faces. White Nationalist terrorism in America dwarfs Islamic terrorism, where's your outrage about that?
PresentlyMinded@reddit
That's a garbage argument, obviously since Muslims don't currently have a majority you won't find any directly linked to them, but as demographics change, you'll see exactly why you don't want to live in the middle east.
You can live in your imaginary land as much as you want though. You'll be the useful idiot.
chouse951@reddit
Dwarfs Muslim terrorism…😂😂😂😂😂
Penguin_FTW@reddit
Laughing at facts just makes you look stupid
bingbong2715@reddit
Your conception of “the west” is based on right wing youtube videos from the 2010s
Snobolski@reddit
Good thing Christians have never engaged in wanting to kill other religions!
Daisy_232@reddit
Watch out your ignorance is on full display here.
Flaky_Breakfast_64@reddit
So easy to make up accusations and flat out lie. Does no one call you people out on this shit?
(1) Define oppress, give specific examples of oppression of gender by religion. (2) ‘False Prophet’ is only your opinion, but again, give specific examples of where the religion states you should kill innocent people or other religions.
Back up what you accusations!
bingbong2715@reddit
You’re saying this based on a daily mail article meant to scare white right wing suburbanites like you
datdouche@reddit
Redditors: Women are equal to men!
Muslims: Women, cover yourselves in towels because you are impure.
Redditors: 🤷🏽
SueSudio@reddit
Burqas are not required by sharia law.
datdouche@reddit
May have to drop some pamphlets on some countries my guy, because it seems a lot of women haven’t gotten your little message.
SueSudio@reddit
Facts are facts. Saudi Arabia has a legal system based on sharia and head coverings are not required.
datdouche@reddit
Enlighten me further then. What is the difference between pure sharia law and a legal system based on it? How many predominantly Muslim countries are as lenient / relaxed as you say? Hit with me more facts, Imam al’Faqts.

ApothaneinThello@reddit
Islam doesn't agree with freedom of religion either.
bingbong2715@reddit
Muslims aren’t forcing you to follow Islam in your cushy suburb get a grip
Snobolski@reddit
Neither do most conservative Christian groups. A pastor that says you will burn in hell if you don't believe in Jesus is saying there's no freedom to worship as you please.
SueSudio@reddit
The most populous Muslim country in the world allows freedom of religion.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
Yes, because there are plenty of Muslims who aren't political Islamists and don't want the government to enforce sharia law or kill idolaters, just as there are plenty of Christians who don't want the government to enforce the more regressive parts of their own faith.
bingbong2715@reddit
You’re an overly propagandized shut in
OceanicEndeavors@reddit
So many bigots in Texas....
ninja-turd@reddit
You can’t have a city inside a city. What is it gonna be Vatican City inside only inside Plano? I swear people are idiots.
ellsego@reddit
Have you heard of The Villages in Houston? … what a fucking idiotic statement.
Snobolski@reddit
Look at a map of Dallas and tell us where Highland Park is.

How’s the heel taste?? 👢👅
Snobolski@reddit
Look! over there! there's a city inside a city!
ninja-turd@reddit
Soooooooo, this new…”city” they’re gonna have all the municipal infrastructure that Highland Park does? They’ll have their own public works, police, and fire departments? Again, there are rules for thee and not for me and if you can’t read/comprehend my initial response you should really sit down and let the adults talk.
Snobolski@reddit
Still moving those goal posts, I see.

Kaleb_Bunt@reddit
Rights aren’t rights if they only exist for people you like.
One of America’s greatest strengths is that people of various different faiths can live freely.
If Muslims want to build a city, they should be encouraged to do so as long as it’s within the bounds of the constitution.
RedDev17@reddit
Lol you guys have no idea what's going to happen in 20 years if this becomes a reality.
ellsego@reddit
Enlighten us the…. In your prejudiced mind where does this lead in 20 years?
Kaleb_Bunt@reddit
DFW is full of ethnic and religious enclaves. The world isn’t going to end because Muslims do a development project.
thinkbox@reddit
I agree.
I also think Sharia Law is antithetical to your statement.
I’m not saying they will implement it, but I’m skeptical of how this experiment will turn out.
I doubt people on Reddit would say the same things the Scientologists or Mormons wanted to build their own city in East Plano.
Kaleb_Bunt@reddit
Depends what aspects of sharia and the degree to which they are being implemented. US law can certainly be religiously inspired so long as it doesn’t favor one religion over the other, if that wasn’t the case, many laws in the Texas code would be unconstitutional.
thinkbox@reddit
Reddit deleted my accurate description of Sharia Law’s treatment of women and apostasy.
So let me just say this. If you think they will implement “Sharia Lite” and leave it at that… then you should really look hard at places that tried this.
Kaleb_Bunt@reddit
All I’m saying is that all religious people have politics motivated by their religion. And it’s hypocritical for people to act like this is okay for Christians to do, but an existential threat when Muslims do it.
Yeah it would obviously be bad and illegal if Muslims tried to implement Afghan-style gender apartheid in the US. But they clearly aren’t doing that and there’s no reason to get angry over imaginary scenarios.
thinkbox@reddit
“They clearly aren’t doing that.”
Familiarize yourself with Sharia.
And its popularity.
Greenmantle22@reddit
Perhaps you should look even harder at this concept. It’s not a city. It will not have any lawmaking authority.
You’re just using idiotic stereotypes and fearmongering to invent a threat that doesn’t exist. Because you don’t like Muslim Americans.
thinkbox@reddit
Honor killings are common with sharia law. Women have no rights. It is incomparable with liberalism. It is incomparable with the west.
chouse951@reddit
You have a wealth of history to tell you how it’ll go. Ancient and very very modern.
It doesn’t go well.
Daisy_232@reddit
You do not understand what sharia law even is, obvious from your statement. The irony is that most people throwing that word around and scared of it don’t even understand what it is. Scare tactics by the tx gop that bigoted sheeps eat up.
Heatmap_BP3@reddit
A lot of people would dump on the Mormons and Scientologists, but there's a whole state founded by Mormon settlers. America is interesting in its approach to secularism because the government is supposed to be very hands-off regarding religious practices because the country's founding was marked by different religious congregations, so the system was set up to prevent any of them from dominating the others. Muslims light people's hair on fire because they are a different religion altogether from Christianity and Islam can be relatively strict (some healthy lifestyle practices though) so there's a culture clash.
Greenmantle22@reddit
It’s a housing development, not a legal city.
There will be no imposition of the dreaded “Sharia Law” in this development. It will still be legally within Plano city limits.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
Do you think segregation is bad?
lovkesec@reddit
Nah
DT-Rex@reddit
Lovkesec lives in a house with 6 or 7 other dudes provided by his parents, it must smell pretty bad with no hygiene, miserable

Jheem_Congar@reddit
That's racist.
dcdude44@reddit
Can it legally be for Muslims only? Everyone should have the right to associate with who they want to but this to me is creating an enclave that won't assimilate or accept American culture.
That development is going to attract every YouTube or X rage baiter that have been roaming around Frisco making videos about foreign invasion and takeover.
nchs1120@reddit
It’s not actually Muslim only. Just something being pushed to be against it
glushman@reddit
Have you been to Boro Park? Crown Heights? Yeah… I mean you can legally live there if you’re not a Hasidic person but I’m not sure I’d want to. I think exclusionary enclaves are cringe.
JuniorPomegranate9@reddit
How diverse is your neighborhood? Do you like it?
Original_Astronaut_4@reddit
Yep! People outside of these áreas have NO idea. I took a cheap apartment in Boro Park to be close to my job when I first moved to New York. I had no idea that I would be treated so terribly :( if you haven’t experienced it, it’s hard to believe.
SueSudio@reddit
So what is your plan? Have a law that once a neighborhood has a certain percentage of people of your heritage no more are allowed to move there?
How do you propose to stop people from living where they want to?
ApothaneinThello@reddit
Enforce existing laws against segregation and housing discrimination?
SueSudio@reddit
If there is a neighborhood with amenities that are appealing to a certain group how do you prevent people from that group from moving there?
You either can’t understand my question or don’t know how to answer it.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
I understand your question but I disagree with the way you've framed things. You're acting as if that "neighborhood" already exists when the issue is about whether to allow its creation in the first place.
SueSudio@reddit
It’s the exact same question. Anyone can move there. Most people won’t. How do you force non-Muslims to live there in order to keep it from becoming predominantly Muslim?
Business_Chipmunk_43@reddit
The answer is that there is no easy answer. As one poster put it, exclusionary enclaves, don’t seem right on face value
pana_colada@reddit
Abuse happens within exclusionary enclaves of any type, because it can be hidden. No matter the race or religion.
SueSudio@reddit
As long as it isn’t statutorily exclusionary I don’t see what the fuss is.
No-Consequence-1863@reddit
How is any of this segregation? You literally lived in the Hasidic neighborhood. Did they make you leave through violence?
Evilsushione@reddit
I bet they get treated bad in a lot of majority white areas too.
Stove-Top-Steve@reddit
[ Removed by Reddit ]
pana_colada@reddit
They make it easier to hide abuse within a community.
Evilsushione@reddit
So what you’re saying is you could live there if you want but you would feel more comfortable in an area that was majority white? Think about that for a second.
Boomstickninja87@reddit
Some area's are like that because on the Saturday you are not supposed to carry or push things in public, so they create a boundary within their neighborhood to allow them to walk freely and push strollers and such. There's more to it, I am not Jewish, but I have some friends are and they explained it way better than I did. It's not mean to be exclusionary necessarily.
jackofnac@reddit
You can have an eruv boundary in any neighborhood with a synagogue that’s within walking distance tho, without building exclusionary housing. Richardson actually has several.
But to be clear, I have no issues with this project whatsoever.
Greenmantle22@reddit
I think lazy stereotypes are cringe.
JuniorPomegranate9@reddit
Get outta here with your facts. We’re only interested in what FEELS true!
ApothaneinThello@reddit
If white people decided to create a separate community for themselves it would be called neo-segregationist, and rightly so - even if they decided to allow a few token minorities.
Boomstickninja87@reddit
They aren't creating a city for only brown people. You do realize that Muslims come in all shapes, colors and sizes right? Several Christian groups are predominantly white and live in predominantly white spaces.....
ApothaneinThello@reddit
Wow, you're telling me now for the first time. Do you think they'll let in white guys who say "Inshallah" and are fans of the Dune movies? Asking for a friend
blanknullvoidzero@reddit
Yes. Ever heard of Chechnya or Bosnia? Plenty of white Muslims exist.
Also the neighborhood doesn't exclude other people from moving in anyway.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
What, Albanians aren't white now? C'mon, surely you realize that former NYC mayor Eric Adams is an exceptional case, most Albanians don't look really like him even if they are Albanian citizens like he is.
blanknullvoidzero@reddit
So you do know about white Muslims? I thought you were ignorant of their existence.
My examples were not all encompassing, but you know that.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
Yeah, and I've even heard some of the music Cat Stevens made after his conversion.
I wasn't equating Muslims with brown people, but you know that.
Boomstickninja87@reddit
Well you're clearly one of the racists.
ApothaneinThello@reddit
If you think Muslims to be integrated into American society instead of remaining in separate communities you're a racist, apparently.
FootballPengiun@reddit
Think all you want - land of the free. Tell us where it’s wrong. Oh and yeah the assimilation argument has always existed and it’s not a good look.
FootballPengiun@reddit
The Dune movies part was funny tho
dcdude44@reddit
Well the food will be 🔥 in this new community. Eastern Mediterranean (Lebanese/Turkish/Syrian/Palestinian) food is one of the best cuisines.
One item that bothers me is the Hispanic rags baiters on x and YouTube that are jumping on the anti Indian and Muslim bandwagon in DFW. Sara Gonzalez is one and she seems to be a grifter running around doing investigations of fraud. Hispanic Americans have been targeted by the right wing as invaders and these influencers are jumping on that bandwagon
Reluctantziti@reddit
Exactly. In America there’s Hasidic communities, Amish communities, Mormon communities. People of the same religion, especially those who face persecution in our evangelical dominated society, want to live near each other for that sense of community and tbh for protection. Bigots just want to scare people because this one happens to be Muslim. If they were building an evangelical development that would just be any Texas town lol
ApothaneinThello@reddit
those are bad too, they're socially regressive and the relative isolation allows them to get away with abuse.
The problem is that racists will use cite this sort of argument as a justification for creating their own segregated communities
Reluctantziti@reddit
Idk if I agree with you that these are bad. You can find something bad about everything. I’m an atheist so I inherently view all religion as nonsensical and predatory but a strong, local community is something humans have craved and gravitated to for millennia for their obvious and demonstrable benefits. Is it disappointing that these communities gravitate around these repressive religions? Of course but it’s not mine or the government’s job to be able to decide what communities get to exist or don’t.
Lord_Xeiphos@reddit
Yes that’s true but there should be restrictions and laws preventing said communities from affecting their neighbors because from these homogeneous communities can come conflict from people who aren’t “them”. Yes sundown towns, Hasidic, evangelical, ect communities exist but if someone decides to move there who isn’t like them then they should be able to move there and live their lives peacefully. The problem is usually in communities like that, their way of things up to and including law enforcement, housing, school, businesses are ran and controlled by that group. That violates so many constitutional rights and protections but are for some reason protected because it falls under the freedom of religion amendments. There are documented instances where a hassidic community gains control of school boards and cutting funding for public schools and getting them shut down to funnel the money …. For their religious private school. That’s government money for a private religious school that only accepts a certain demographic and religion 🤦🏽♂️. Unconstitutional and illegal but allowed because? They want to hear antisemitism used incorrectly again? It’s ridiculous and dangerous. I’m an atheist also so I see the danger in allowing this because a big part of being an American is that sometimes unfortunately you may have neighbors that you don’t agree with, or even like them HOWEVER fortunately you have to abide by the law learn to respect them. Imagine moving to a sundown town and being threatened, not having the police help because they are a part of the problem, and that community affecting every aspect of your time living there. That’s the issue with these exclusionary communities 🤷🏽♂️
Reluctantziti@reddit
The constitutional concerns you raise are valid, but I'd point out that this thread is about a Muslim community while Mormon towns, evangelical counties, and Christian-dominated local governments have been doing the same thing for generations with far less outrage. If we're going to apply scrutiny to religious communities influencing local institutions, it needs to be consistent. Ideally I'd prefer religion out of government entirely, but since that's not realistic in America, the poster child for religious freedom historically, the least we can do is make sure freedom of religion is applied equally not just when the community in question is a minority group like Jews or Muslims.
Lord_Xeiphos@reddit
Completely agree and advocate for rolling back such power grabs by already existing religious institutions in government. Sad thing is this country was never meant to be such a thing. The founding fathers although Christian in some form or other always wanted that separate from the power of government and state. They weren’t saints but they got that part right. Wish an atheist body of government could change things but they would never win on that platform if they ran for office as a separate party 😑
Boomstickninja87@reddit
You can't stop people from being racist anymore than they can stop others from being gay or black. Racists don't need a reason or justification for creating their own communities, it already happens. There are still Sun Down cities in Texas. Humans have always gathered in communities of people with common interests. It is important to have people you can relate to. Thats the plus side of being American. We are supposed to be able to free. The problem is the anger and hate others feel for people they do not understand and do not care to understand.
Greedy_Car3702@reddit
Legally non Muslims can't be excluded, but in practice they will be. There will be community pressure to not sell houses to non Muslims. And, there will be unofficial sharia courts.

ZealousidealAntelope@reddit
The Constitution already prohibits establishing a state religion whether its Islam or Christianity. The only reason this is an issue is that some billionaire supporter of Trump paid a think tank to come up with a list of issues MAGA could use to fire up their base. Issues that seemed like they could be true to people who were gullible. MAGA needs you to think that there are people out there that are worse than them.
Sometimes you should look at these anti Muslim posts and in your mind replace Islam and Muslim with the word Jew. Its amazing how the rhetoric now sounds like Nazi Germany in the 1930s
In 1947, the U.S. Army released “Don’t Be a Sucker” to show how a nation can be divided, reminding Americans that prejudice isn’t natural—it’s created by those who stand to gain.
The danger isn’t always the hate that’s loudly spoken. It’s the fear that seems distant… until it hits close to home. The message is clear: when someone points to who to fear or exclude, pause.
Ask who benefits, who loses, and how to protect trust and shared humanity.

This is the government the founding fathers warned us about, and why they were careful to construct a system of checks and balances. Get angry, get organized, talk to people in your community. Vote them out in November to save what’s left of democracy in America.
robrabies@reddit
The 1930s point is an inflammatory, inaccurate, and lazy comparison. There are plenty of significant differences, including stripping citizenship, forced relocation, mass violence with and without state backing. It wasn't rhetorical, as in, the things the most annoying people said, but official policies. Learn some history, including American history. There are much more apt examples. You're testing the boundaries of Holocaust denial with this lazy framing about what might be.

Yeah I just posted the whole fucking parable so if you want to highlight my delusion for me I'll go-ahead and post the last couple verses for you.

25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’”

Wrong Context. That's referring to final judgement, When we die or when Jesus Returns we are judged of where our Soul will reside. Try better next time!!
Usual-Caregiver5589@reddit
Weird how its always wrong context with you Bible thumpers. Its actually not about final judgment at all. Let's just look at the whole parable. I'd hate to have missed some context.
Alert_Score_7849@reddit
have you read the quran before and its translation or no
South-Succotash-6368@reddit
of course I have. I even wrote a college paper on everything wrong with it LOL
3Time4Eater3@reddit
I hope this isn't a cowtow for religions based on a god that killed People's first born, and killed with impunity
South-Succotash-6368@reddit
Well the difference between God the ultimate Creator doing it to his Creations and a random guy Muhammad from Islam going out and murdering random people is a big difference.
3Time4Eater3@reddit
Oh wow the load of ignorance, hypocrisy, psychopathy of that statement should have broken your screen. Quick question for ya...can you prove it?
BreakfastMedical5164@reddit
and our supposed christian administration bombs innocent civilians over the last 30-40 years to line pockets of cheney and lockheed martins. religion is the excuse, use that smooth brain of yours

Republicans holler about Sharia law but we already live under Evangelical law: Abortion banned after ~6 weeks; doctors face felony charges, private citizens can sue anyone who “aids or abets” an abortion for $10k, gender-affirming care banned for minors, ten Commandments displays mandated in public school classrooms, schools must teach that life begins at fertilization, major porn sites blocked and some of the strictest weed laws in the country.
YesterdayNo9777@reddit
I’m sorry but like, since they already do it we should accept even more of it? We should be pushing back against both this and the republican evangelical laws, not just accepting both
ApothaneinThello@reddit
I agree. I think a lot of people are approaching this purely from the angle of wanting to protect a marginalized group and are failing to see the bigger picture.
Reluctantziti@reddit
That’s not at all what I’m saying and I’m genuinely baffled how you made that leap
inkydeeps@reddit
Adding to your list… can’t buy liquor or a car on Sunday.
Snobolski@reddit
You can buy a car on Sunday if the dealership is closed on Saturdays.
Car dealerships are only allowed to be open on one weekend day. Their choice.
inkydeeps@reddit
It's still a stupid rule based on religion and nothing else. My point stands.
Reluctantziti@reddit
You can’t buy a car on Sunday?…
fartpluswetone@reddit
Dealerships have to be closed by law one day out of the weekend. Private sales are allowed but no state offices (for title transfers) or notaries will be open.

MAGA and Muslims both follow the teachings of a pedo
MaximallyInclusive@reddit
I think this might be the most annoying part of the whole deal:
Freedom of religion, as I’ve always understood it, does not mean you can publicly broadcast your call-to-prayer.
And no, this is not akin to church bells in a small town square that have been there for 150 years.
Snobolski@reddit
If they had built it 150 years ago would it be ok?
It's exactly like a church using their bells to do more than tell the time.
MaximallyInclusive@reddit
It’s not. It’s a literal call-to-prayer vs “It’s noon.”
And yes, it would be different if it had already been going on for 150 years. I’m an atheist, so I’m firmly in the camp of: no new public religious symbolism that we all have to suffer through.
Delakandroz@reddit
Ah would be funny if the jewish population moved in and out numbered every Muslim person there.
PrettyKitty-xox@reddit
Wake up people!!! This is a huge issue. We need to stop it now.
OceanicEndeavors@reddit
Have you heard of freedom of religion? Oh, is that for the Evangelicals only?
jackiemannella@reddit
This cannot happen! That’s what these people are doing all over Europe and it’s resulted in disaster
OceanicEndeavors@reddit
Europe is actually fine.

I think if that city was built for Muslims only it won’t be a good place to live while being in multi faith country that its constitution allow and calls for free of worship
But the city is built or being built for all people and abiding by the law and accepting American culture and the multi faith country culture
hmmpainter@reddit
Mega city🙄. Let's be real. Mixed use developments with a bunch of mercedes dealerships a rolex store and some fast casual halal. Im sure there will be a mosque or two. Perish the thought.
PureBlood_07@reddit
This media scare about this is so fucking dumb, all these people who are making a deal about this and sharia law can’t even fucking define what it is they’re talking about. As someone from this community we just want to live our regular lives like everyone else and have no desire in influences those around us. Overwhelmingly majority of us don’t live by sharia law LOL. any one who believes we do also believes in mf boogeyman and big foot lmao.
Daisy_232@reddit
Agreed , on all but one point I challenge you to explore because the Islamophobic talking points may have gotten to you too, it’s not a bad or scary word. Muslims do follow and live by sharia law, that’s exactly it and it’s not a scary code. It’s why they pray, give charity, help neighbors, fund community resources like shelters and food pantries, eat halal meat, etc etc. it’s actually quite comprehensive and not the narrow scary thing it’s being painted as in this witch hunt.
Dazzling_AzamsOP@reddit

Mega city? You mean a subdivision? One that anyone can purchase a home in? Y'all need to find a real real problem to try and solve (there's plenty to choose from).

Hey they learned from the Israelis. Set up an enclave and declare a state. Don’t you all support it when Israel does it?
Csharp27@reddit
What a mess of a headline. I don’t want this because no religions group should have that but it’s pretty fuckin far from a “mega city”.
