I was a badass ghostbuster getting the ghosts out of my aunts apartment complex; kissing boys and kicking ghosts and I was alllll out of boys

Every second or third title on reddit seems to be written by someone having a stroke

I have tried reading this sentence three times and have no idea what you’re talking about

We got food from the food bank as a kid.

My brother had his tonsils out and my aunt got him a ghostbusters gun, must have been nerf. It had a big wavy green foam noodle sticking out and when you cranked the gun the noodle spun. I was so jealous

Back off man. I’m a ghostbuster
ryhoyarbie@reddit
I had the toy proton pack and pke meter from Kenner Toys. Sold them in the early 90s.
junto80@reddit
Did you pool noodle proton beam come out of the box all curved and look stupid too? I’m not still mad…
SunshineInDetroit@reddit
nope. we had lazer tag
limelight022@reddit
I had Ghostbusters on the Sega Master System.

I was one year old in 84, so no. But I had plenty of the toys as I grew up.
But now?
Not only do I now own a ton of more “screen accurate” gear, I’m also part of a 501c3 Ghostbusters charity team. We’ve raised $20k for various charities over the last 10-11 months as part of Sony’s “Ghostbusters Give Back” campaign making us #3 in terms of money raised among participating teams.

Starting when I was 5, I dressed up as a Ghostbuster two Christmases in a row.

I had the figures and the proton pack with the trap. My mom also bought my brother and I brown jump suits for Halloween one year. She sewed the patch onto the shoulders and name tags on the front. My dad found the proton packs in the attic a few years ago and threw them away. A few months later he saw that they were worth a few hundred on the collectors market even without the box and in played with condition.
A few years ago, I was working along with the crew for the Ghostbusters Frozen Empire premiere here in New York. I got to wear the movie prop proton pack, carry the trap and took some pictures in the real Ecto 1. Little kid me was freakin out

My mom made my brother's jumpsuit out of an old gray snowsuit (which worked out well, since October nights are pretty chilly in Maine). He did have the light up ghost projector though.

All I wanted was that proton pack with the foam plasma beam. Never got one.

I duct taped a length of my Dads fish tank hose to my school back pack and on the other end I taped my moms dirt devil vacumme. That was my proton pack. And long John pajamas was my uniform.
shadowlarx@reddit
Sadly, not me. My Ghostbusters gear was a hand painted sweatshirt and sweatpants and a proton pack made out of discarded vacuum cleaner accessories.
And I didn’t get to wear that until 1993 because I was born in ‘84 about 6 1/2 months after the movie came out.

Not many

We had half a slinky. But I straightened it.

Okay richie rich. I had a white sweatshirt that my grandmother put on an iron-on Ghostbuster symbol.
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
My first thought was “ok Richie Rich” haha. Like minds.
Dramatic_Stain@reddit
I had a glow in the dark symbol tshirt. Oh how i loved that.
chris84126@reddit
I wish!
Negative-Wrap95@reddit
Yeah, no. I had planned to make a Proton pack out of some TV parts from the junk pile the local TV repairman had, but he talked me out of it. In retrospect, he was right. I wouldn't have safely discharged the caps etc.
FelixAxellus@reddit
Oh wow, I wish! We were using the vacuum and pretending it was a proton pack.
kgruesch@reddit
We were poor. I made my proton pack out of cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls, duct tape, and the lower half of a gallon ice cream bucket.
BlushHeat@reddit
Sounds like you were living the dream saving the day and getting crushes all at once.
unicorn-beard@reddit
Geez no but my neighborhood friend was obsessed with ghostbusters and had this sick proton pack
hungrypotato0853@reddit
I took a Tide box and covered it in duct tape and used more tape and cardboard to make my own proton pack.
Beyond the action figures and some slime, everything else was too expensive for my parents.
Suns_In_420@reddit
I still have the suit from ghostbusters 2, it’s a tad small but my son got to wear for Halloween one year so that cool. I also had the backpack with the styrofoam noodles and the trap that popped open.
chargoggagog@reddit
This was my favorite movie as a kid. I watched it so many times the VHS tape snapped. I don’t have any official gear, I made my own out of cardboard, tape, and tin foil. I remember a friend had the ghost trap, I was in awe, it was so cool!
