Yeah it's a rare Japanese car that sold bazillions around the world and relatively few in America.
I own a 1984 Nissan 720 King Cab in Ohio. I have to order parts from Malaysia, Phillipines, Japan, etc because there isn't shit in the US anymore

You also should look for brand focused forums where you can find people who know about your car and often sell parts or identify parts for sale for those on the forum.
