I feel I need a break

I’m basically done with my IR just have to take a checkride and do my written ( I know my written is late) I’m about to move home and start my summer job which I work 80 hours a week. I have no free time. Will have time to study though.
I can’t find a dpe in my area and am just feeling I need to drop it for a bit. I have the chance to go on a trip and then come back here take my written go home and work and then do my Checkride somewhere else.
Feeling stressed on what to do and if I should take this chance to go do a quick travel.

I'd advise you to get it done. If you take a break, you will lose the edge. Get the written done ASAP, while it is still fresh in your mind. If you put the written and check ride behind you now, it will make it easier to procrastinate further. Procrastination and complacency have no place in aviation, and nothing with doing was easy.
In the past, I had to take hiatuses that were unavoidable, and rust starts early. If you know enough to ask the question, you already know the answer: Get it done.

Ooof, no, terrible idea. Take the break after the checkride. The amount of proficiency you will lose is considerable.

I’m sorry no one is seeming to understand I can’t get a checkride in the state I reside in before I leave. Once I go back to the other state I’ll get one but it will be a while

No I get it, and the situation sucks, but this is really a case of you need to be patient or actively go to a place where you can get a checkride done before you go on break (make sure to do a flight or two to get used to the local approaches). Instrument proficiency at your stage drops so quickly, that taking a break usually means spending much more money in the long run.
However, ultimately you know the nuances of your situation. I’ve just seen students make this mistake before when checkride wait times start to reach the 3 month mark.

Thank you for understanding. Yea I don’t really have time to wait. I’ll be pretty busy once I get to this job. I have been full time flight school for 2 months since being laid off so I’m in a rock and a hard place

Only thing I can recommend the man, if you can swing it, Microsoft Flight Simulator, while terrible for training in most respects, is more than good enough to maintain you head in the game for your IR while you step away from flying.

Thank you! You are kind and not harassing me. I’ve met my hour and all my requirements. I will get the written done certainly. Checkride is really holding me back and I need to go back to work unfortunately!

Have you talked to your instructor about this?
You need an endorsement for the checkride and taking a break will absolutely cause you to regress on your current progress. I doubt he signs it would enduring you’re up to speed. A new instructor would likely require more to show your current proficiency.
It’s obviously your prerogative and sometimes other things are more important. Just consider the cons of this. Hopefully you’re not just backing out because you’re stressed.

Thank you for this, I have not I’ll see them tmmr. The other instructor I will use will be an old cfi of mine. I have to be back somewhere to start work and no dpe is available in my state this month for a checkride. So I just feel beat

I’d be cautious with the attitude of “I’m basically done with my IR” before you have your new rating. Especially not having the written done. You could be proficient enough now to pass a Checkride, but there’s a healthy amount of work between here and there. Leaving the training environment at this point will make it very very difficult to get back and finish it, especially without spending a fair number of hours getting Checkride proficient again. My advice…if you have the hours done, try and finish up now and take a break after instrument. If you don’t have the hours, pause now, do your written in your off time, then find an accelerated course to finish up with when you’ve got the time.

So just to recalibrate expectations, when you’re a little older, the “summer job” turns into just the “job,” and if you lose it, then your entire family is homeless.
If you’re really basically done with IR, then honestly, you need to step up and get it done. Otherwise, you regress and your parents get to pay for even more training.
