Which decade before you were born feels the most fake to you?

I was born in the 1980s but it's definitely the 1950s. It looks like a COMPLETELY different world. Really the whole time period from 1945 - 1963ish. I always say it looks more normal from take 1968 - now than it did from 1963 - 1968! I'm curious what decade or time period others think

Pertinence to GenX - Posts may be removed if they are not pertinent to Generation X in a specific way.
This includes non-specific ramblings, any sort of conspiracy theories that have nothing to do with GenX, or posts about people who happen to be GenX….and that’s it.
AI videos or articles MUST have the proper flair identifying the content as AI.
Just because an article or video mentions Generation X does not automatically make it pertinent. Moderators will make this determination at their discretion.

I think the television version of the 50’s might not match the actual 50’s
TV has painted this stepford white picket fence image of Americana - I have a feeling there was poverty and struggle then too.

I don’t understand what you mean by ‘fake’.

I live in a small town where most of the appliances are from the 1950s - pushbutton stoves and such. The 'feel' of that decade is still there. Surprised no one has scouted it out for a period piece. I love the 1960s with that endless summer feeling in photos - the nation was going through a 3 year drought that tinged my memories. I have memories of snow, but no rain whatsoever.

fake...the 50s...no
the 1950s to me, seems more real than anything,
because I know, what we witness RIGHT NOW was the result of automation improvements from progression.
early 20th century the 2nd industrial revolution production line progressed rapidly ...
all aboard for Henry Ford -
by the 1950s computing groundwork for future electronic developement progression toward the 3rd & 4th industrial revolution was laid.
as a teenager in the early to mid 80s id read enough to know -
that the Apple Mac and commodore 64 was born out of the 1950s 60s 70s progression of electronics
and that period in the 50s is directly responsible for the 3rd& now 4th industrial revolutions.
if you are using A.I
you can thank the direction of the 1950s.
that is a fact.
early computing from 2800 B.C.E right up until the late 1940s was,
ANALOGUE.
the 1950s BOUGHT ABOUT ELECTRONICS. the new digital age.
storage had begun.
1950s may seem ' fake to you' which tells me you should re educate yourself.

I don’t know about fake, but I struggle to picture my parents as kids, in color. When they tell stories about their childhood, everything is in black and white.

I love seeing those colorized/upscaled videos of the 1900s when people were driving the first cars and going about their business, like this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHkc83XA2dY
