Best E-Bike for my Son

Hello all, I'm getting my son a birthday gift, and one thing he wanted is a "Suron Ultra". I looked online, and they looked pretty big, he's turning 9, and he currently is about 4'8-4'9 and around 75 lbs. Is this bike good for hi, or is it going to be too small?

Just get him a Harley
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
Harleys are too heavy, and he's too young? Also, they aren't even a good brand. I'm not trying to teach my child that breaking laws and tongue-kissing dudes is a cool thing.
chuckwolf@reddit
Tounge kissing other Dudes is a great thing

Get the surron and put his college savings fund towards life insurance.
Surrons are electric dirt bikes. Do you really want your 9 year old wheelie-ing down the road at 45mph? Because that's what he's going to try to do on day 1.

I'll talk to him about it, but it's not going to be for the road. He's ridden on 50cc dirtbikes before, so this isn't going to be his first time on something like this.

I don't know where you are, but some places are arresting and charging parents for their children's surron-enabled antics.Â
As a former irresponsible child myself, I would have severely injured or accidently killed myself if I had a legal ebike that young, let alone a surron.

What helmet goes well with the ultra, he doesn't like helmets right now, but I'm trying to get him to be safer.

5gallon home depot bucket should be fineÂ

Injuring yourself going 20 miles per hour seems more like user error than the fault of the speed. Also, as I said earlier, this isn't going on any road. This is just for him to ride around the track near our house, and the woods.

In my opinion. that ebike (or edirtbike for the nit-pickers on here) is too much for a kid his age unless he's going to be riding in an area specifically designated for dirt bikes (and with heavy parental supervision). I taught my sons to ride dirt bikes (not electric) when they were around 10 and 11, but I did it off-road in places I knew were safe. And of course I was right there with them at all times. If your 9-year-old has the maturity, I see no reason why you can't do the same.
If his riding conditions are favourable, as I mentioned above, then he might be fine with an ebike that powerful. If those conditions are absent, I would not get the boy that ebike. And I would especially not get that ebike for him if he is going to be riding in town, or by himself. I think, in most places, riding that style ebike on public roads is illegal anyway.

You don't want to cut that umbilical too early. Don't ever stop being the chauffeur.
chuckwolf@reddit
the only "e-moto" a 9 year old should be riding is a Razor MX 350
BadluckyKamy@reddit
Surron are wayyyyyyyyy too much powerful for someone this age
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
In my area, the limit is 750 watts, and this bike only has 24 watts, so I thought it would be fine since it's much below. He's been asking for a while.
BadluckyKamy@reddit
It's 24 KW that's 24 000 watts....
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
Oh, I didn't realise. Is that too much for him? He sent me a video of someone around his build who was on the same bike and it looked pretty big, but it was going pretty slow.
BadluckyKamy@reddit
It's more powerful than MOST motorcycle 🏍️ and even some car
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
Seriously? How is this more powerful than a car and only like 5200.
BadluckyKamy@reddit
Chinese build quality and also it's a motorbike so it's cheaper to produce than a car
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
Ok, it's coming tomorrow, so I'll be excited to see.

Bruhđź’€ that's a creative way to reduce the grocery bills in some weeks

Watch some videos? Research
Bucksin06@reddit
It's faster than most sport bikes you really want your 9-year-old doing 60 mph
wpg_Coyote@reddit
Slow night, huh? There’s no way you’re this inept.
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
That's not really respectful, which is literally the first rule.
wpg_Coyote@reddit
Not sure why you take it that way… I said there’s no way you’re that inept. A compliment really.

honestly atp this whole account is just - karma farming
Own_Peace6291@reddit
Nope. No way. Unless you're buying a casket to match.
Bucksin06@reddit
Would you let your 9-year-old drive your SUV cuz that would be much safer than getting them a Suron
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
That's a car that weighs a ton. This is just a stronger dirtbike.
Bucksin06@reddit
And he would be much safer driving the SUV than a overpowered dirt bike
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
An SUV is so much more dangerous, I also joined a forum for my area where more kids have bikes, so it's good for community.
Bucksin06@reddit
What do you think is going to happen to your child when they get thrown off an E dirt bike going 60 miles an hour. I'm begging you just let them drive the SUV
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
SUV's are super expensive, and he already has a dirtbike.
planegoeswoosh@reddit
Surron is an adult dirtbike. This looks like an actual troll post. A 9 years old has no business being on anything other than a regular 7 gears child bike
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
I see a ton of kids on similar bikes. Also, his current dirtbike goes about 38, and he wants to upgrade. The cost of gas prices is super high, and electric are stronger on the throttle.
Cheap-Patient919@reddit
Is this a troll?
Methan08@reddit
Get him a Cycrown run mini, goes 20mph and would be plenty for him
ooooffffofofo2@reddit (OP)
His current dirtbike goes around 38-39, so this would be too slow for him.
