Honestly between the GC, Wagoneer, Ram 1500, and new Cherokee
Jeep and Ram have some pretty solid products, r/cars dislikes them partially because "that's what the cool kids say"
Before people mention reliability, they aren't any worse than GM and Ford products
FalconTurbo@reddit
Personally I dislike them because they're massive with poor visibility and don't suit our roads, carparks or infrastructure.
Big-Soup74@reddit
this includes the grand cherokee and GC?
FalconTurbo@reddit
What's the GC?
And honestly even the Grand Cherokee is pushing it honestly, it's a big full sized SUV and there's plenty of parking spots that wouldn't want to have three of those next to each other.
Big-Soup74@reddit
GC is the grand cherokee. whats an SUV thats a good size for where youre at?
FalconTurbo@reddit
Yous aid grand Cherokee and GC so I was confused
Around here (outside of utes like the Ranger/Hilux with kits, and Seppo tanks like the dodge and ford offerings), there are still plenty of really big SUVs like the later generation Patrol, Landcruiser and X5, but for 90% of people, a Ford Escape would be perfectly sufficient and fit into every multistory carpark, parking space and narrow driveway that you're likely to come across across the nation.
Big-Soup74@reddit
Im a fucking idiot i just realized my mistake lmfao. forgive me, long week
Big-Soup74@reddit
no worries, but the grand cherokee and cherokee are two different vehicles.
I think the cherokee is about the same size as the escape? I could be wrong
FalconTurbo@reddit
We don't get the Cherokee here, thankfully. No need for more Seppo things.
Irishfafnir@reddit
Grand Cherokee is a mid-size SUV
Even-Promotion-4024@reddit
Aussie?
Splenda@reddit
Could be, but I live in the wide-open US West and I'd say the same. They scare the shit out of me when I'm in my hatchback, let alone when I'm on my bike.
alohawolf@reddit
I'd guess so - though, like, they're not that big - not much larger than the ranger sold there.
Aussie carparks are hard even in a Subaru Forrester, the roads are the same width there as they are here, but most of the drivers of yank tanks over there just seem to be shitheads.

peakdecline@reddit
This guy is such a terrible driver and Its insane to me he's become some kind of "authority" on off-road capability.
That said also... the Cherokee does not have any kind of off-road version available for it yet.
Shmokesshweed@reddit
And the average Cherokee/SUV owner isn't? I haven't seen anything similar struggle as much.
At a certain point, it's clear the AWD behavior is just terrible.
Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit
I youtube video can't change my opinion
I need you to find me 4 or 5 more
Shmokesshweed@reddit
I'm hearing Cherokee owners are still out in the woods stuck thinking they bought a Jeep but in reality bought something less capable than a FWD 90s Honda.
Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit
Really?!
Wow!
solo118@reddit
GC's are everywhere, do like me and stick with the lower trim and it will treat you good. The higher trims have air suspension issues
The Wagoneer though is a complete POS, my buddy can't wait to get rid of his its been nothing but issues
cubs223425@reddit
No, this is just a comment people make up to dismiss any notion of criticism. People don't even dislike the RAM 1500. The most fervent criticism you see of RAM is that it's dumb that RAM was spun off from Dodge because the Dodge brand would be stronger with the trucks under its wing.
The Jeep criticism is the same. It's criticism of the brand, it's criticism of how the brand's success is done at the expense of the rest of the company. Dodge and Chrysler have been given horrible support for the past decade (arguably more for Chrysler), and people don't like seeing the brand names wasted on nothing.
Tony-cums@reddit
Hurricane has had far far fewer issues than the new Toyota TT V6. Funny nobody talks about that.
And I’m a Toyota fanboy. I love Stellantis too, though.
Midgetsdontfloat@reddit
It's just easier to hate the brand, I guess.
I've had a 2020 Ram 1500 for almost 7 years and it's been mechanically flawless for 200k kms. A few small issues like an ABS sensor, but nothing that wouldn't come up in any other brand.
Tony-cums@reddit
Those can be hit and miss I admit. I had a ram on a lease that had a mysterious shutting off problem. Did it to my wife on the highway. I sold that lease the next week. That was back when Covid and prices were nuts so I made money.
Her wagoneer has been flawless.
Midgetsdontfloat@reddit
I think they absolutely have a build quality issue (it was very apparent with the Grand Wagoneer) and mine did have initial issues like the leaking back window, but mechanically it's been one of the most solid vehicles I've ever had.
Tony-cums@reddit
Grand wagoneer has been an issue. No idea why there such a difference - more electronics I guess. We considered upgrading but don’t want to roll the dice and we are happy with the wagoneer we have.
Clover-kun@reddit
I dislike them because they're poorly put together and their warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. My Ram left me stranded on train tracks and the dealership and corporate both said nothing was wrong with it.
Knightrider319@reddit
I mean, GM and Ford is a fairly low bar the last few decades.
Big-Soup74@reddit
I base this totally on my own observations and feelings and not on any evidence whatsoever but ford fell off around the pandemic for me.
had a 2012 mustang GT that was great, later on had a 2023 bronco that was trash. both are so cool though
Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit
They're are
But often when people criticize Jeep and Ram they're comparing them to GM amd Ford
truthlesshunter@reddit
They are are?
truthdoctor@reddit
Yes, Matey.
Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit
Damn autocorrect did me dirty
So my shame may serve as a future reminder, I will not edit that comment
karatechops@reddit
As the previous owner of two GCs and now the current owner of a 2024 GC 4xe I can confidently say I will never, for as long as I live, own a Stellantis vehicle. This car makes me feel so overwhelmingly betrayed by a brand I had deep trust in. My two years of ownership have been full of dealer visits and recalls, which all seem to cause fires and do not have fixes (sand in engine and previously the battery issue which did not have a fix).
Our other car is the second XC90 we’ve owned in the last three years and they both had crystal clean repair records. It’s worth mentioning I went into Volvo ownership with low reliability expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
I won’t even touch my stories about owning a Stelvio.
Ok-Farmer5023@reddit
Couldn’t agree less: we won’t touch Stellantis after our JGC had repeated mechanical issues and we ended up just walking away from the lease, continuing to make the payments for 8 months in 2023. We’d love a new wrangler but are getting a Bronco instead. That organization is the fucking worst.
All of our GM products have been fine and they actually stand behind their vehicles.
SizeableFowl@reddit
I have to say, beyond thinking the 2005 Charger was a cool ass car as a teenager when it launched, even though the Magnum was cooler, I’d never really genuinely considered a mopar product until this week, when I got a Jeep Wrangler as a rental car for work.
I learned to drive on trucks and decided early on that they weren’t for me. I’ve gravitated towards smaller cars my entire life, one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned being a 2015 Fiesta ST. In spite of that, I’m sort of adoring this wrangler. It is the exact opposite of everything I’ve looked for in cars to date and I actually like how involved I have to be in driving it, because it wanders. 80 mph feels like I’m flirting with death and in a lot of ways it reminds me of an NA miata I almost bought off of my buddy.
enjoyingorc6742@reddit
I'm the opposite. I gravitate more towards trucks, at least older trucks, as I tend to fit in them a bit better. recently, I got a 2008 Mazda 3 that has been a fairly good car that I actually fit in (I'm a bigger guy and I have long legs). haven't had the chance to drive a proper Jeep but I do think it'd fit in them fairly well.
adwrx@reddit
They’re horrible products. Massive, heavy and just plain horrible cars
drakelow14@reddit
Anything with a 6 or 8 cylinder I would agree on the ford and gm point haha but the 4 cylinders are absolutely terrible
DaBanninator@reddit
Can you imagine buying a jeep or ram with gas at $5/gal and rising 😂
RAMBIGHORNY@reddit
Not everyone is mired in the throes of poverty
Zestycheesegrade@reddit
I don't have to imagine. I'm living that dream today. About to ride a bike wot work daily. 😂
purz@reddit
It’s ok my sports cars get slightly better gas mileage… on premium gas 😵
mulletstation@reddit
Just in time for the highest gas prices ever in America
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Morden BOF trucks aren't same 00's anymore, these models have better fuel effective now. Besides, they're pushing more hybrids despite slow down EV effort.
donnysaysvacuum@reddit
True but a RAM is 19/24 for a 4WD 3.6 and a hybrid Wrangler is 20/22, that's not great.
CobandCoffee@reddit
I mean that's what'd you'd expect out of a full size sedan 20 years ago.
donnysaysvacuum@reddit
Sure, but people aren't cross shopping a 20 year old full size sedan with a brand new pickup. A new Accord hybrid gets double the gas mileage.
CobandCoffee@reddit
I didn't say they were. Just saying that MPG has come a long way and people were more than ok with it being a lot lower not that long ago. Keep in mind the age of the average new car buyer is 50+.
donnysaysvacuum@reddit
Well gas prices have gone up more than the fuel economy of trucks has, so they probably shouldn't be.
namegoeswhere@reddit
Man, I remember when my mom's Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 got like, 12 on a good day in the late 90s.
Hell, my 2011 328xi averages about 19. I'd say those are great numbers for big-ass vehicles with the aerodynamics of a brick.
5tudent_Loans@reddit
In texas, but more of my neighbors have a RAM 1500 than the silverados and barely any f150. GM is gonna have to pull a magic trick fo convince all their recall victims to give them another chance
idontremembermyoldus@reddit
Ram is deep in third place when it comes to sales. The Silverado outsold it by 100,000 units in '25, and the F-Series outsold the Silverado by about the same amount. They've got quite a hole to dig out of.
guyfromnebraska@reddit
Curious if that difference mostly comes down to fleet sales? I feel like I see way fewer commercial Ram trucks than GM/Ford
idontremembermyoldus@reddit
There's no question that Ford, and to a lesser extent Chevy, dominate the commercial segment. However, the fact that they were within 34,000 units of being fourth place is very concerning. Especially when just a few short years ago (2019, 2021), they were going back and forth with Chevy for 2nd place.
UnderwhelmingAF@reddit
So GM is actually outselling Ford by over 100k units if you combine the Chevy and GMC sales.
purz@reddit
F150s get the least incentives and Rams get the probably the most. Although GM has been similar last time I checked but Ram almost always has big incentives.
This is going back since forever too. I got a Ram at the start of the refresh cause it was the cheapest to lease by quite a bit. Want to switch back to a truck now from my Bronco and Ram has the best deals. Although GM is close and you get to play roulette with your engine choice lmao.
Arbiter51x@reddit
Guess if you can call stealing a quarter of a billion dollars from the government profit... stellantis can get tucked.
rsta223@reddit
How is getting a refund for illegal and unlawful tariffs "stealing from the government"?
DaggumTarHeels@reddit
Because customers paid those tariffs and won’t be seeing a refund.
jawknee530i@reddit
That means they're stealing from their customers with government support. Not stealing from the government.
lumpialarry@reddit
Did the customers pay the tarrifs or did Stellantis eat the tarrif?
henchman171@reddit
They stole money from Canadian taxpayers as well
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Close factory and layoff isn't Canadian thing anymore, they also do that in French too. Peugeot now stops one of factory to built car. They take many taxpayer money form otherworld, not just you Canadian.
Shmokesshweed@reddit
Stealantis amirite
metengrinwi@reddit
Just in time for expensive gas
DK4E2XFpbETJrj@reddit
That 0% interest rate doing WORK.
Kidding - I genuinely love the Wrangler.
ButtfuckerTim@reddit
Fixed that headline for the author.
enjoyingorc6742@reddit
kind of sad that Jeep and Ram are the two profitable brands for Stellantis.
Vhozite@reddit
Now if they can just come out with anything half decent for Dodge
saarlac@reddit
who the fuck is buying sub 20 mpg vehicles...?
kstetter@reddit (OP)
gas is still cheap in the US
phoenix823@reddit
You can't make me root for Stellantis.
Pitiful-Mobile-3144@reddit
I wonder if the profit is just from selling more cars and/or a bump from people buying now to dodge tariffs, or if they sunk EV and R&D costs into the past few quarters and took it off the books this quarter?
The Ram 1500 and midsize suv/crossover jeeps always seem to sell well and the wrangler is a dream car for many, but their prices keep rising despite minimal improvements and stiffer competition so I’m not sure increased sales of those core models are the reason here…
Car-face@reddit
It's literally just tariff refunds.
Spiritual-Dog160@reddit
I love their cars but their reliability concerns completely outweighs that for me.
leftoutnotmad@reddit
Why am I always rooting for the underdogs?
8funnydude@reddit
They should go bankrupt for giving the 2026 Charger a laggy slow-refresh speedometer
