Good news - Dallas ISD has seen improvements in social behavior and an increase of 200,000 library books checked out, compared with last school year. They are chalking this up to the cellphone ban.

This is good news! Who would have guessed that social media was terrible for children?

Instead of banning phones completely they should limit the app installations in the phone and draft a specific app and game installation limit. You cannot completely ban phones in 2026. Basic communication mediums should not be stopped.

Property taxes are insane in Texas. I want an actual return on my investment and I want those reading + math scores to come back up. I’m sick of this shit.
These scores have steadily been declining since the mass adoption of smart phones.
It is time to drop the mass hysteria and addiction over smart phones. Too many parents see public school as daycare. I’m done getting my pockets drained for lazy children and parents.

I don’t have kids but I wouldn’t want a government entity or employee to have the access necessary to enforce that. Would be a lot simpler to just lock them away in little bags that block signal.

It’s just during learning hours. Kids have pouches to put their phones in and they are unlocked at the end of the day. Messaging is also a huge distraction in the classroom. It would also be nearly impossible to enforce an app installation limit - would teachers be responsible for personally searching hundreds of thousands of phones to check the settings? The way they’re doing it is the simplest and most reasonable way.
