As a gift for their wedding anniversary. Should I give them the first or the second painting?

These are both so awesome!! I would say 1 if they have a lot of more conventional/traditional art in the house.

The second feels more modern and might fit in less. Also I feel like older people would prefer that more traditional format.

I think the first one is technically and aesthetically the better of the two. But either way they will be happy

Depends on what their house looks like. If it has a lighter, for example blue and white interior, I'd say give the second one, with no frame. If it has darker tones with more wood, and / or old fashioned wall paper, have the first one framed.

Former college level art student here (and I was quite good at the time) - you have a very good eye for things. I hope you keep practicing, because not everyone has that sight I'm talking about and its a lot easier to develop skills over developing that sight.
