I find it weird honestly. You come to Linux for some privacy reasons and use chrome. It is mostly all the normies though.

I have an odd theory that people can't get go of Chrome because the icon has all of the primary colors in it and its subconsciously very visually appealing for some people.
sch1z0phren1cx@reddit
becaus people who come from windows use chrome and flathub
natermer@reddit
The really smart ones do. The even smarter ones install Brave from flathub.
Marth-Koopa@reddit
The people that think they're smart use Brave
splayer_28410@reddit
yup, brave isn't much of a different corpo slop, only thing good about them is they have a solid marketing team to whitewash what they do and used to do
natermer@reddit
You do realize that Firefox is worse when it comes to that, right?
BranchLatter4294@reddit
It's the most popular browser. Browsers are one of the most popular apps. Not hard to figure out.
MatchingTurret@reddit
Probably because it's not bundled by distributions.
CjKing2k@reddit
How hard can it be?
HaveAShittyDrawing@reddit
I don't get the joke
1 open discover & search for chrome 2 install 3 ??? 4 Profit
CjKing2k@reddit
Windows users have trained themselves to download installers from a vendor's website instead of searching for them Discover.
Chrome's website gives you the option of downloading a DEB or RPM file for "Linux".
Plasma defaults to opening DEB and RPM files with the archiving program (Ark) instead of installing them, confusing the Windows users who are used to double-clicking EXE files.

man I hate flatpak
Leliana403@reddit
Hate is a very odd emotion to feel towards something that is pretty benign and has no material impact on your life.
Are you OK?
julioqc@reddit
no material impact
wat 🤨 buggy clusterfuck that are flatpaks took hours of my life ill never get back. I get to hate it, shill
Leliana403@reddit
"anyone with a different experience to me is a shill"
Grow up mate, honestly.
cgoldberg@reddit
Because it's the most popular browser, which is probably the most popular/important software
cmrd_msr@reddit
Because Chrome is not distributed in packages, Chromium is difficult to synchronize with Google (although it is possible), and Android remains a very popular system, so synchronization is in demand.
chrisawi@reddit
Firefox is right behind it at 11.26 million.
I think the Steam Deck comes with a shortcut to install Chrome from Flathub, which probably is a factor.
