Remember your 3 points of contact people! Lucky I only got a few scrapes and bruises
Fellthefox@reddit
My boot was untied and the little plastic piece got wedged into the step and I almost fell backwards lmao.
Three points of contact AND tie your shoes!
hambutbacon@reddit
It's the worst, car hauler here. I had 3 points of contact and still slipped down the ladder because I wore sneakers instead of non slip work shoes or boots. Landed elbow first then smacked my head against the asphalt.
GordTransport1958@reddit
At my age n old bones, I take my time getting in or out..
duhrun@reddit
When i went to cdl training at Stevens the main trainer on yard fell off side of truck while training drivers on the side of truck. He was a severely injured.
MD_keh@reddit
Ive only fallen once and it was last year when i was changing all my stuff from one truck getting in a new truck, was standing on the 2nd step piling stuff up on the seat and floor to easily grab, grabbed a couple things to move and stepped down, only to realize i had forgotten i was on the 2nd step, by the time it was all said and done i was laying on my back by the drive tires, must have looked like a cartoonish fall the way i tried catching myself and how far i went
tvieno@reddit
Years ago I was walking along the side of my load on a flatbed, my balance shifted and off I went. Fortunately I pushed off with my feet and landed with a roll.
Last year I was climbing out of the rear of the trailer using three-points, using the left door's latch poles to grab onto. I lost my left grip and did a graceful half tumble to the ground. Bruised an ass cheek and left arm.
Wonderful_Budget8172@reddit
I like to use 5 points of contact…
tvieno@reddit
"Com'on down!"
I can't
Horchata415@reddit
This happened to me at a Walmart DC in Louisiana a few weeks ago. I only wear dresses and I was so happy I wore undies that day😹
Whitehoneybun666@reddit
I haven’t fell yet but I have missed the step and hit my ribs on the steps I jumped into the truck knee hit the step cut it open pretty good it happens I just laugh it off 😂😂
AlphaFox616@reddit
I think that is worse than hitting the ground 😭 I can’t even imagine the pain from that!
Whitehoneybun666@reddit
The pain is a little worse but it’s better than landing on a pee soaked truck stop ground 🤢
DefiantComposer9469@reddit
Yeah that’s one of those mistakes everyone makes once and never forgets, glad it was just scrapes. It only takes a second of rushing or missing a step for it to happen. Definitely a good reminder to slow down and keep those 3 points every time.
AlphaFox616@reddit
I fell off the truck last month when I missed the first step, I was able to rotate myself mid air to have myself land on my side. Not going to lie it did hurt but I’d rather land that way then land on my back. Glad you are ok tho! I know some falls can really hurt some people or put them out of service. Dust yourself and keep on trucking!
MajorHymen@reddit
I fell off the side before though slipped and instinctively let go of my 3rd point of contact to break my fail even though if I hadn’t let go I wouldn’t have fallen. Haha probably would have scrapped a knee or something though but it was winter in Nebraska I think and fell onto the snow so pretty soft landing.
billsfan01@reddit
I just started. Haven't slipped out of the truck yet, but I did get too close to a forklift that dropped part of our load on me. Thankfully I was with my mentor when that happened. Although he actually told me to stand there as he knew it wax unbalanced. Told me to put my hand up and hold it in place. Yea there was no holding that after ig shifted past the point of no return. Knocked me on my azz. Bloodied my elbow a ton when I hit the ground. I just kinda laid there for a bit. Store manager actually pointed out my bloddy elbow before I realized I even injured it. The initial blow was on my right side, which knocked me down left. I was too busy shaking off the cobwebs
BriskManeuver@reddit
Sorry that happened but I had a funny image in my head of you laying down after you just fell and posted this immediately
JediKiller15@reddit
That happened to me the time I flipped over the front of my bicycle

Said no young person ever

Being young doesn’t stop gravity…
COATHANGER_ABORTIONS@reddit
Lmao, happens to the best of us. Haven't busted my ass but I've definitely slid my shins against the step on the way down.
Beautiful-Slice166@reddit
Ive done that and just laid on the pavement for a moment, feeling more dumb than hurt, it happens
mvamv@reddit
3 points?? What's that?
Icy-Efficiency4105@reddit
Last summer, running flatbeds, doing a repower with another driver. Putting up straps, reached down grabbed the strap, took a step back to have a better reach at the headache rack, missed the catwalk. Broke the fall with my neck, did a back flip, head and back looked like I got in a fight with a cat from all the scratches, minor concussion, but mostly fine. Went to the doc to get checked for neck/spinal injuries and cleared with a good bill of health. Still forced to take a week off to "recover" and spent the week playing disc golf lmao good times.
ironeagle2006@reddit
I have you all beat. Spring of 99 was on Kentucky RT 9 the old pennyryle parkway that runs kinda in-between Cincinnati and Grayson. I stopped at one of the few places on it for the night to sleep. There was a storm in the night nothing unusual it was spring. However the parking lot that had just been redone with new gravel liquefied due to the vibration of my engine idling and sunk my truck up to the axle housings and steer axle up front damn near putting the bottom step on the ground. I woke up early in the morning to use the restroom and then leave and took that last step off to get to ground and damn near put my knee in my chest.
To say that the truckstop manager was pissed was an understatement to say my road maintenance guy at my carrier was supernova upset well the language used that morning would have made the command master chief of the navy take notes on how to swear at someone's incompetence.
overcrispy@reddit
I fell off the catwalk one time. Just completely missed the step lol. Luckily I didn’t hit my head
FunnyHighway9575@reddit
Countless times 3 points of contact has a saved my ass. My foot constantly slips off the bottom step 😅
Minniemutt12@reddit
4 years in and I just did it for the first time last month, stepped into a hole and my ankle rolled.
akaFxde@reddit
That’s gotta be top 10 worst feelings as an adult.
Minniemutt12@reddit
One of the top 5 is knowing how lucky I got not to hurt myself worse. Landed on my ass and hands trying to catch myself. I think the back of my head was pretty close to bouncing off the pavement too. I think I had 3 points of contact too but somehow lost my grip.
25_Unknown_Devices@reddit
I just got my first speeding ticket in 10 years, and the first ever with my cdl. I was going 62 in a 55.. un fucking fortunately.. I didn’t see the 45 sign or the cop parked right next to it.
Ckmccfl@reddit
I’ve fallen straight out of a trailer 3 times doing foodservice over the course of 7 years, and somehow have never had worse than a scrape and bruise on my leg
Apart-Steak-7183@reddit
Never the fall that hurts but the landing!
scottiethegoonie@reddit
I've ripped the jeans on my right leg from the ankle to the knee getting out too fast.
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit
I did that with a pair of duck cotton overalls when I slipped on a car hauler deck and managed to hook a leg keeping me from falling out to traffic.
akaFxde@reddit
I’m young and dumb so sometimes I randomly feel like moving way too fast. Only tried it once… I basically bunny hopped up to the top step. Of course I slipped and scraped my knee. That wasn’t a great feeling.
Ninja-Storyteller@reddit
Always funny when you miss a step, and you're just dangling there by your arms.
Grey_Ghost4269@reddit
Done that, but with pup staring in the face,
McJesusOurSaviour@reddit (OP)
Haha yea have done that before. This time I fell right off the catwalk and bruised my hip and leg on the suspension
opinionated_penguin@reddit
I’m surprised I haven’t done it yet. I scamper like a mf up and down those steps
Dangerous_Ingenuity1@reddit
Please tell me you did the Peter Griffin holding the knee and moan.

I bumped my knee last monday on my fender getting in (euro cabover) and rook out my limiting lights. Last tuesday a gush of wind slammed open my door straight into my face as i walked around my truck, which i opened previously, and got sidetracked talking to someone
JimBobPaul@reddit
Luckily, mainly your pride took the hit. But we've all done it.
JOliverScott@reddit
Slipped off the frozen bottom step once and landed flat on my back. Strangely it seemed to pop my spine just right and after I got my breath back it felt better! I still wouldn't advise it though.
Waisted-Desert@reddit
Too late, frozen bottom step stuck in rectum, please advise what to do next.
Slapnuts213@reddit
I’ve done this a couple of times in the winter with steps frozen over. Did it one time missing the damn step and fell flat on my ass.
It happens
