My bank just called me to thank me for being a customer for 25 years

I mean, I guess this is kind of nice...but the only thing I can think about is how goddam old I am now.
Unless they were calling to offer me a reward for my loyalty, I don't know if I want another call after 50 years of banking with them.
Who else has randomly made you feel old lately? This is like a personal attack!

Hey I get it. One of my first credit cards out of college was a southwest rapid rewards Visa… when all of those changes were announced with Southwest, I guess I was sort of glad I still kept that card alive. I still get a free checked bag, but damn I feel old when I see the card and it says “member since 2003”

Wow. I’ve been a customer of my bank since I was born and I’ve never had a thank you.
Atillion@reddit
What did you get?
DramaticErraticism@reddit (OP)
Fuck all! They should be offering me like a 500 dollar checking credit or something. The call isn't even about thanking me, it's a cold call to try and fish for other things they can sell me or make money from, under the guise of a thank you.

A pocket calendar and a pen!

We've made a $1,000,000 off your deposits. Here's $3.50 in interest. 🧐

Totally! At least call to tell me there is a 500 dollar credit in my account for 25 years of banking with them. Calling someone for 25 years of making you money and not giving a gift of any kind, is really tone deaf.
Blackbird136@reddit
Banker here lol. They give us client outreach calls and 99% of us hate them. Because who wants to be cold called?! Everyone assumes something is wrong, or they just don’t even answer.
Guarantee the goal of the call was to talk about a product with you, but he/she was just doing the minimum. Ask me how I know. 😉
Also I’ve had the same checking account since 99. At the bank where I now work.

Totally! If you're so grateful for 25 years of service, call me and tell me I have a 500 dollar credit in my account for 25 years of being a loyal customer.
I don't want a phone call from stranger at the bank just to say thanks lol

I’ve had a checking account since HS my bank has been bought and sold 4 times. Currently Truist, previously BB & T, before that Susquehanna, and originally Abington bank

This happens to me every time I call my bank. They say thanks for being a customer for over 40 years! I am 44 and still have the account my parents opened as a savings account for me as a baby.

I just got a new card and a letter from my branch manager in handwriting thanking me for being a branch member for 30 years. I've always kept the same branch even though I moved. I'm old so old now. Meanwhile at the airport my wife asked me what a pay phone was. Lord help me.

I have had my Costco card for 19 years. The app reminds me every time. 😆

Realizing that next month will be my daughter's 5-year anniversary graduating from high school REALLY got me.
Jr5309@reddit
I’ve had the same checking account since the 1900s.

1995 here. My credit union consolidated my college debt, financed three homes and I don't even know how many cars now. And now my teens have accounts there too. As far as banks go, they're pretty alright.

I started out at WaMu and then transferred to BoA in ‘06 and have been with them since. Never been called a loyal anything . Maybe in five years .

I hit 18 years at work on Tuesday. I realized that when I went to the security office to get my building passcard replaced because it broke, and that’s when I found out the card and my job both hit adulthood. I am in better shape than that passcard but some days it isn’t by much.

Realizing that less time elapsed between Chernobyl and the release of Silence of the Lambs than between the outbreak of COVID-19 in the USA and now.
Granted, our childhood was a pretty active time globally, but damn did I feel that in my bones.
saison257@reddit
What.
Initial-Progress-763@reddit
Where'd I lose you, bud
saison257@reddit
Haha not lost, just dumbfounded about the Chernobyl / Silence of the Lambs part. That's insane.
Initial-Progress-763@reddit
Right?? I realized it this weekend, and while I know the sense of time passing is different as a kid, those two events being four years apart just seems bonkers now!
saison257@reddit
I was just on my bank's website earlier today and saw a "Thanks for being a member for 20 years!" banner on the side, ha.
The one that did me in was commenting about the show E.R. earlier today and how I watched it when it first aired. I looked it up afterwards, and that show started 32 years ago. Hot damn.

BOA contacted me to tell me how they were improving their rewards program to give me less rewards.

I’ve had the same savings account my whole life. My parents set it up when I was born and I still use it.

I've been with Wells Fargo since 1994 (grandparents opened a savings account). I guess I should consider myself lucky that they never opened a surprise bank account in my name in all those years.
Konnorwolf@reddit
Thinking about it now I've had my bank for a little over 25 years as well.
genesimmonstongue415@reddit
I've ended up hopping around a bit since 1999. Didn't plan to... it just happened. My oldest financial account is a credit card from 2012.
MSB218@reddit
Yeah, I called my cell carrier a few weeks ago, and the rep ended the call by thanking me for “… being a loyal customer for 23 years”, which is probably longer than she’s been alive.
CMarlowe@reddit
The only time my bank really contacts me is to say when they're raising fees on a checking account. This doesn't apply to me because they're stupidly easy to avoid, but would really fuck someone if they were poor or unemployed.
Possible-Tangelo9344@reddit
I've been with the same bank for over 25 years. It's been bought or merged a few times but I stayed. Nothing. I just use them for checking cuz my savings are at another bank that gives better rates. The only reason I stay with them is cuz I don't wanna reset all my auto pays
