Has anyone used this to getter mileage mileage ? /s

Two people at work are constantly swearing by it and leaving it on my desk for me to try. They also sport pain beads bracelets, magnetic headbands and copper lined jackets. Now you know.
What was the revolutionary technology behind this wonder product anyway ?
I've been telling my colleagues that I am allergic to snake oil.
pandaSmore@reddit
They're just pulling your leg.
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
Actually no. They buy all the "As seen on TV" stuff. They believe this device 100% percent.
NEALSMO@reddit
I put one is all three of my 12v sockets in my Tundra. I’m getting 60mpg now.
Tashycide@reddit
Tried one of these but I removed it quickly after noticing no improvement. Plus, it smelled bad afterwards
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
Oh no. Did you mistake it for something else ? Hope you did not injure yourself ?
ThatAudiGuy92@reddit
The shaft must remain unharmed
bradlees@reddit
Captain America has entered the chat
I understood that reference
TeacherOfFew@reddit
😮
DanGleeballs@reddit
Did you really try it?
extraeme@reddit
It actually technically decreases gas mileage by being another device that adds electrical load to your car, requiring a (very slightly) higher alternator workload/engine load/increased fuel consumption.
Inside of it IIRC are some capacitors and am LED. Maybe some resistors too.
The point is it's e-waste and snake oil. It'll do nothing but waste you're money and best case scenario it will increase you're fuel consumption.
LheelaSP@reddit
Making money can be so easy when you have no morals.
scrubtart@reddit
The American Dream, baby!
HDauthentic@reddit
This is snake oil for sure
A_Pointy_Rock@reddit
Google says it claims to "stabilise voltage" reducing drag on your alternator.
If a £13 Amazon purchase could reduce fuel consumption by 30% I suspect OEMs would be using it to nail emissions tests...but I assume people buying this aren't thinking too hard on that.
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
Stabilize voltage by being connect to a 12V outlet. Wow!
This is even better than the ionizing inline magnetic fuel filter.
coverallfiller@reddit
Are you telling me that ionizing inline magnetic fuel filters don't work?
Yardsale420@reddit
No I’m saying ^their’s^ doesn’t work but mine does.
coverallfiller@reddit
Got any for sale?
TheCrackBoi@reddit
I also have premium helium for your tires making your car up to 10% lighter getting better gas mileage
coverallfiller@reddit
See, now that just makes sense. I've been driving backwards everywhere to keep the milage down.
Impossible_Event6007@reddit
I work at a steam plant for a small college and we've had people come in trying to sell us ionizing inline fuel filters for our boilers. At the time we were burning #6 oil and we were afraid of them plugging up too fast. Now we burn natural gas so I wonder if they will work with natural gas.
JukeRedlin@reddit
There's a new retroencabulator coming out that'll enhance the cars ability to utilize modal wane shaft variance to stabilize the alternstor. Works way better, early testing shows a 300% reduction in alternator fluctuation, increasing gas mileage by as much as 38%.
adkio@reddit
Automakers used to duct tape panel gaps to cheat on fuel economy tests. Not to mention dieselgate...
ClassroomStrict912@reddit
The people who buy these will rather believe that there is an international conspiracy between auto manufacturers, the oil industry and lizard people that wants you to spend more money on gas.
semifunctionaladdict@reddit
Hey atleast they aren't wrong on that front
Basker_wolf@reddit
They kinda are. It’s crab people not lizard people.
Tje199@reddit
Task failed successfully kind of thing
SpinningYarmulke@reddit
The Matrix was a documentary.
timsayscalmdown@reddit
To be fair, it probably doesn't do NOTHING. I'm sure it powers a small LED light.
moistmonsterman@reddit
Its just like those EMF blocking stickers you put on your cellphone.
Effinehright@reddit
Not only is it adding to my 97’ slammed accord’s gas mileage but now it whistles when I shift and 10hp easily gained!
Jacklunk@reddit
Remember every sticker you add gives 5more
NuTrumpism@reddit
The whistle go wooooo
Vierno@reddit
Thas only in the mornin’!
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
Holy cow. Striking difference in performance right there. Do you feel the reduced drag on the alternator through ?
Effinehright@reddit
I have to charge it every night because of the 12’s losing power somewhere
Jacklunk@reddit
Hey bud. Can I talk to your colleagues, I have a bridge for sale.
echo-tango86@reddit
A fool and his money are soon parted
Vanbursta1@reddit
Yes but only in combination with go faster stripes and 2 furry dice, and a following wind, downhill.
JackORobber@reddit
Im not sure how this will help at all, but I also first thought this was something else
linkheroz@reddit
What that is, is an LED in a box. Literally.
kaszeljezusa@reddit
Wait, what's with the copper jacket? Is it supposed to work as some kind of radiator? I'd actually try that
BondGoldBond007@reddit
I actually just saved enough money to send my non existing child to college thanks to this!
comoestasmiyamo@reddit
Will it work in my Leaf?
MrScott4@reddit
Use about twenty of these sort of snake oil items and sell the gas your car will generate when you drive it.
jmoney1119@reddit
Sometimes these can help fuel economy, but not because they actually do anything to your car. Often times when they improve it’s because after installing it, many people will, at least for a while, drive with more intentionality towards economical driving which can make large differences.
Kinda like how many fad diets can help people lose weight but it’s often just from them actually paying close attention to the food they’re eating and eating with more intention, not because they cut out potatoes or whatever.
ImpertinentIguana@reddit
Actually. I bought one and it did help improve my mileage. I took it to my car and took it out of the box. I when I tried to plug it into my cigarette lighter socket, I realized I could not because my parking brake handle was in the way. I pushed the button on my parking brake handle, put it down, and my mileage has been much better ever since. Also, my car doesn't stink anymore when I drive it.
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
I did not get the part where you said your car does not stink anymore. I did not realize that this device has a deodorizing function as well. Could you kindly explain ?
wstsidhome@reddit
His parking brake was…defective…and held the vehicle back while driving. The vehicle itself knew by using AI to question what the slight burning smell was and recommended this person to buy and install this device. When he pushed the button to release the lever (to have enough room to plug the device in correctly), he gained a lot….a LOT of herspers.
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
Gotcha, thanks :)
Plenty-Industries@reddit
Are those two people in their 60s?
PozhanPop@reddit (OP)
50F and 71M. 71 gave the unit to 50 to test. 50 claimed that her husband felt that it was really doing something and he paid less at the pump. 71 had had miraculous results.
Plenty-Industries@reddit
Figures
thismenu@reddit
I can honestly tell you with 100% certainty that no one's ever used that device to getter mileage mileage.
Liam_M@reddit
so do you have to keep it in your bum all the time or just when driving?
Noahwillard1@reddit
No flared base, I wouldn’t use it if I were you
seriousC@reddit
It works if you stick it in the right "socket" 👀
Traditional-Day-7698@reddit
wanna fix their bullshit on this? open it up and show them the inside of it. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/news/please-review-the-_neosocket_-gas-saver/

Looks like a butt plug.
Jellodyne@reddit
I put one in my butt and now I consume 20% less gasoline!
mr_lab_rat@reddit
I’m just not flexible enough to have both ends plugged in at the same time
SaturnXV@reddit
Instructions unclear which socket this plugs into
-McLaren-F1-@reddit
Reminds me of the Energy Polarizer dealer option you could get on Holdens in Australia. It was a small box with crystals and magnets that would supposedly increase vehicle performance by “aligning molecules”, whatever that’s supposed to mean.
benz58@reddit
Absolute nonsense.
ZombieHoratioAlger@reddit
Nope, didn't help my mileage at all. All I got was a pain in the ass.
(Don't try this at home. It lacks a flared base)
VintageBandit@reddit
Send it to me. I want to paint it red and attach it to the frame of my buddy's truck.
JojitheFrenchie@reddit
I dont think you put it in your car...
mr_lab_rat@reddit
One end goes the car, the other end goes in the ehm, other end.
bikeequelsdirt@reddit
Damn dude seriously 👨🏿🦳
JojitheFrenchie@reddit
Can confirm, it does reduce gas by WAY MORE than 20%.
Sinister_Crayon@reddit
So not a flared base, but that'll do...
kokomokid46@reddit
What species of snake is the oil from?
dth1717@reddit
The butt plug 3000? Nope
NwolCozob@reddit
Are you supposed to shove it up your ass?
Spong_Durnflungle@reddit
No flared base, I'm not using it.
Initial-Relation-696@reddit
Dropped a large box over the side of my pickup one day. Swept the passenger mirror off my four runner. Swear I was getting 5-6 mpg better. New no side mirror but camera and screen might be an unknown advantage.
mzrdisi@reddit
Reminds me of the Amazon "turbochargers"
Vladraconis@reddit
They are not lying. You will.save fuel. The trick is that it needs to be plugged in your arse, and you will save fuel because you will call the paramedics and they will.take you to the hospital.
nedovolnoe_sopenie@reddit
can't burn fuel if you can't start your car i guess
bob202t@reddit
Absolute garbage snake oil. You want better mpgs? Inflate your tires 1-3psi over the recommended level, learn to keep your rpms under 2k, and keep the engine in top shape. I drive a 2023 passport and after 6k miles I’m at 23.6mpg.
Better-Credit6701@reddit
I remember back when OPEC wasn't selling us oil way back before I could drive. A car magazine made a list of all the products that will save you gas and calculated that the car would have to produce gas. They wrote how much of a hassle it was for drive a while and have to bring along gas cans to empty into from the car. They had to give it away because their car was making so much gas.
Written back in the days where magazines were allowed to lampoon their own advertisements

Itjustbelikethat311@reddit
Uh yeah,100% snake oil. I truly don't know how anyone would fall for these, they don't even plug into anything that could actually alter the way a car runs
