[Other] Tortort VZ-61 Milled Receiver $319 + $30 ship

Somewhat of an in stock notice. Atlantic had these for the cheapest I could find, and they are a good option if you’ve bought the parts kits deals lately. They have the proper stock mount so it locks properly (assuming you SBR it).
Zotross@reddit
I honestly think that Atlantic should be boycotted until they fix their ‘guaranteed credit card theft’ payment system.
Sea-Economics-9582@reddit
Second this. There was someone posting on fb the other day about it happening again.
Go_Blue_@reddit
Currently out of stock, but Centerfire Systems sells these for $250. So unless you really need one right now, wait for a Centerfire restock https://centerfiresystems.com/tortort-vz61-skorpion-receiver/
fkthisjob14@reddit
Are these the best receivers if you plan to SBR or get as clone correct as possible? I'm just autistic and want one that says made in Czechia...
waferelite@reddit
Chefur Customs is the best you can get short of a reweld. He'll match the proof and year markings that your receiver stubs have, as well as the lightening cut, serial number of your kit, and finish (hot blue, park, or ugly gray enamel paint, your choice). They take the stock as well but you have to dremel off a tiny bit of metal unless you specify the receiver is for an SBR.
Go_Blue_@reddit
This is the only one I'm aware of that has the slot in the back for the stock
dorritos29@reddit
Yeah just wait for CF. Atlantic is crazy for these prices
coltoninthecut@reddit
Atlantic use to have them for $250 before this last restock. Then they upped it this current price. Kind of disappointing of them
seshwonsauze@reddit
Atlantic are straight gougers on everything. It’s not surprising
FlapperGasfire@reddit
Probably trying to gouge VA
BH11B@reddit
They suck and I refuse to do business with them anymore.
HandyHorologist@reddit
Me as well. And they were incredibly rude to me during my fucking ten thousand dollar purchase of a 249s lol.
Parabellum12@reddit
I disagree. I got a great deal on a braced SP9A3 from them recently. And I bought a FAL from them for a good price a couple years back. You just have to catch them at the right time.
IonicPaul@reddit (OP)
They did this with the MP5A3 collapsible stocks. Didn’t know they’d done it with these too. Disappointing.
DexterBotwin@reddit
Tortort themselves advertise it a higher mark than what Atlantic sells at, and centerfire has them on an indefinite sale.
IonicPaul@reddit (OP)
I didn’t see them even when I looked it up :( Still happy to get the real deal in the comments.
my_sock_account@reddit
I only had to wait less than a month for them to restock so I think they do it often too
thtguyjosh1996@reddit
Hopefully soon
Johnhoangfl@reddit
can i put a 22lr upper on it? if so, what upper?
BENboBEN@reddit
I bought a new one directly from Tortort as it was the only place that had them available. Paid quite a bit more than this. They have updated their design slightly. Nothing that would matter unless you’re properly autistic, but the engraving has been moved to the bottom of the receiver and the rate reducer now has a proper pocket cut for it. You still have to open up the hole a little bit for the pin to fit through, but it is actually clearanced for the rate reducer now before there is absolutely no way for it to work. The pictures on Atlantic show the older style, I don’t know if they have the updated ones. honestly, no reason to run the rate reducer on a semiauto, but it’s just kind of a cool little mechanism and I was autistic enough to make it wanna work.
shotguneconomics@reddit
Its perfectly possible to get the slightly older version working with a dremel with grinding and polishing wheels, and a beer.
bubbathedesigner@reddit
No beer no success
ThrownAwayFeds@reddit
This restock from Atlantic is the older design with engravings on the side. I emailed Centerfire and they are unaware of when their next drop will be from Tor Tort. And I’ll be asking them as well whether they are the newer designs.
unannounced_booger@reddit
What was your wait time? I ordered mine on the 27th and had 0 communication from them yet.
BENboBEN@reddit
Couple days to a week.
BreadBudget9592@reddit
Are these better than the Czech points?
Daves_no_here@reddit
If you want it to look like an authentic VZ61, yes. These are the dovetail slot for the wire stock. The Czech ones will require an adapter plate. If you don’t care about that, then either will be good.
Quw10@reddit
These also use the original metal safety, Czechpoints use a plastic safety which works but it has a slightly annoying amount of flex to it.
TheBraceGuy@reddit
Or you just 3d print the modified lower that takes super safeties and has a rail for folding braces...
Dak_Nalar@reddit
for that price you can just buy a 3D printer and print one for free.
Distinct_Age4791@reddit
I've tried but no success yet. I have yet to find an STL for the original/full auto receiver to use my parts kit on that fits.
All I have found so far are these ugly receivers that mesh an ar15 trigger kit with it and don't take the foldable stock :( not what I want. I want to keep it as original as possible.
nash2700@reddit
stick to the semi only TA61 receiver on the sea
some_kid6@reddit
The ones made by ArmThyRightHand accepts the original parts.
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
if you want an all original one then kit building is just not going to be for you. the lower receiver for these is the same price as an entire kit. thats partly why the modernized print designs are so popular
Mewho10@reddit
You can just weld the receiver pieces together. It doesn't get more original than that.
No jig required, just a welder, angle grinder, and scrap copper pipe.
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
sorry but i like my fingers
Mewho10@reddit
People 3d print them. Your welds would have to be literally horrendous to be weaker. All the reciever does is hold the mag/trigger stuff and stop the bolt carrier from falling out the back.
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
proper 3d printing is NOT the same thing as a diy mig job
Mewho10@reddit
DIY 3d printing is still weaker than all but the worst of DIY welding. You can hang a hundred pounds off a single tack weld. I suspect I could tack the pieces together once in each corner and it would hold forever.
That being said, I'm not going to try that because I like my fingers. If your risk tolerance doesn't make you feel good about a welded receiver, then obviously don't do it, but I think its naive to think printing is safer.
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
hmmm you said yourself that you wouldnt try it because you like your fingies, but youre trying to advocate that other people should? nah
Mewho10@reddit
I'm saying that I wouldn't shoot it with only a tack weld in each corner. I have done a vz61 weld and have a few hundred rounds through it.
Dak_Nalar@reddit
thats just not true at all
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
uh yeah it is? rebuilding a torched receiver or buying a new czechpoint one is the same or more than the price of a parts kit
Dak_Nalar@reddit
its called a 3D printer my dude
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
did you read the og comment where he said he didnt like 3d printed lowers
Dak_Nalar@reddit
Did YOU read the original comment where he said he just could not find the file, which exists and is easily printable?
shreddedsharpcheddar@reddit
cant hold everyone's hand
SteedOfTheDeid@reddit
Google atrh vz61
Dak_Nalar@reddit
It exists, I know for a fact, because I used it for my parts kit. If only there were an index of Gun CAD files out there somewhere.
Lawrencedingdog@reddit
Atrh one uses all original parts
Texan209@reddit
I found and printed one a couple weeks ago - forget exactly where it came from, but it's out there on the sea
Zhdrix@reddit
What printer would you recommend?
Dak_Nalar@reddit
Qidi Q2 is the new hotness everyone is talking about.
cdillon42@reddit
Now where's cheap ammo?
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Royal tiger.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Huge warning on royal tiger. I just bought a crate, it was unsealed, loose, no packing in box, and the ammo was mixed, probably from at least 10 different original crates. The crate was destroyed because of how they packed it, ammo was loose and falling out of a hole in the box. Ammo was not in the condition described at all. I am still working with support to try and resolve this, but huge red flag here that you probably want to avoid the headache
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Best of luck, they do suck as a company.
I bought a crate and it arrived as advertised, a few different boxes mixed together with the extra space packed with paper so everything was tight. It's a 2x 7.62x54r spam can crate, it's definitely just neat packaging to ease shipping 162 commercial boxes.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Thanks, glad yours made it intact. Yeah I'm pretty sure all they had to do was ship a crate with the spam can still in it, even if opened, and put some packing paper around my crate, and it probably would have been fine, ignoring the general quality of the ammo itself was mixed from poor to good. But they did neither unfortunately, and it arrived how you'd expect a non-sealed 70+lb crate floating freely in a large cardboard box would arrive; destroyed.
morrihaze@reddit
Also wondering
RegardedDipshit@reddit
These are not worth $320. At this price just get a 3d printed one. You could get 5 of them from titus and still be ahead.
Distinct_Age4791@reddit
Copy and pasting my reply to another comment to see if I can get some guidance:
I've tried but no success yet. I have yet to find an STL for the original/full auto receiver to use my parts kit on that fits.

RegardedDipshit@reddit
They definitely exist and there are multiple versions that will work. V3 is probably what you want. Titus also shares his same production file version. Go sail the odd sea til you find it.
Dak_Nalar@reddit
I love Titus, but I'm not a fan of his version of the receiver due to him flattening the bottom to make it easier to print. There is the original receiver on the sea of oddities
ThrownAwayFeds@reddit
Atlantic said that these are the receivers with engravings on the side as seen in the pictures. As mentioned by someone else Tor Tort has a new design with engravings on the bottom and a few other features. I’m holding for engravings on the bottom and Centerfire pricing.
Special-Commision824@reddit
I purchased a CSA from Atlantic last week. I believe those should still be in stock as well.
