My thoughts are that the euro caused a 50% price increase and all of you who have not adopted it should stay away.
Vesko85@reddit
You really love repeating the same things like parrots and sheep. Go ahead and explain to us exactly how the euro increased inflation — I’m listening
rxdlhfx@reddit
Sure sure sure, make it 500% to be more believable...

Bro im shopping groceries here not you. Also service prices have exploded. We were just starting to feel some wealth here and this piece of shit currency came along.
Imaginary_String_814@reddit
how dare you make any bad comment about the EU ?
on a serious note why you think the change of currency has an impact on the prices and inflation ? (we in Austria there are some people who also claim how everything was cheap af before the euro)
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
Mostly because of the Balkan mindset which is to make a buck out of everything. Everyone knew grocery shops etc. will take advantage of this and they did. To nobody's surprise. If your country is from Balkans, where regulators are incapable to stop this abuse.
ExoticAd7546@reddit (OP)
There prices in the big chain where everybody shops mainly are the same. If some small shitty merchant or service provider is speculating, there is no way that the government stops him realistically. Today it's the euro, if not tomorrow it would've been the war in Iran.
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
Yes, that the color of the papers and the name changed didnt cause it, thats true. But it gave the excuse to do it. If you are a politician who knows his trade and country then you dont do this move because you know the outcome. We all knew, you knew too. That is why all parties pushing for this to me have proven to be incapable to govern, selling out for good boy points in Brussels. This is why 45% Radev came, not because we suddenly remembered that we love Russia. You did all this yourself and now you can cope the next 5 year at least. This is why the average Bulgarian will never trust PPDB.
ExoticAd7546@reddit (OP)
As I said there can always be excuses, some real some speculation to increase the prices. The eurozone at least is such an excuse which also brings benefits to the country. E.g. the war in Ukraine 2022 caused insane price hikes too and only negatives for both sides. Same for USA Israel actions currently which are yet to cause an inflation crisis and no it won't be because of the euro but everyone prefers to hyperfixate on that.

You missed my point.

When Montenegro went from Marks to Euros there was a huge difference.
02 100us got you 220 marks, 05? 100 us got you 80 Euros, price didn’t adjust if it was 4 marks it was made 4 euros. I will be there summer 26 I heard it’s even more expensive than previous years.
rxdlhfx@reddit
Sometimes I wish inflation would actually be as much as it is claimed by redditors. Just as a reminder of how 50% inflation actually feels like. I never said prices haven't increased, just that 50% is ridiculous.
No-Championship-4632@reddit
People buying shit from Lidl crying they are almost broke then years passed and their income overtook the inflation by a lot so they started buying organic shit and whatsoever and now that's damn expensive too so it was never as bad as today, fuck this EU, in Russia they grow their tomatoes themselves man.
Vesko85@reddit
Do you know that you can always move to Russia?
ImaginaryZucchini272@reddit
I don’t get it. Is Lidl for you low quality/price or high quality/price?
Excellent_Jeweler_43@reddit
I legit keep hearing people complaining that things are too expensive while going on 6 overseas holidays and 10 weddings per year
IWillDevourYourToes@reddit
It's the same everywhere. Here they complain about being broke all the time and then casually mention visiting 10 different music festivals and frequent aquapark/spa visits
NightZT@reddit
Here aswell, people are complaining that building houses is so expensive compared to 20 yrs ago but don't realize that 20 yrs ago they'd built their houses themselves in their freetime with neighbors and relatives which also took several years or even decades to complete and now they're buying box houses from a catalog. No wonder it's more expensive
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
And this makes groceries less expensive? Your mindset of being a good goy paying up ridiculous increases is exactly why you will always stay mid lil bro.

Good inflation.
ExoticAd7546@reddit (OP)
It is adjusted to purchasing power based on the cost of the countries
jore-hir@reddit
That does not mean it’s adjusted for inflation. It’s not.

Purchasing power is a stupid madeup indicator. It is mostly a way to make failing economies feel good.
ExoticAd7546@reddit (OP)
Which one do you suggest to look at?
Jealous_Health_9441@reddit
Yeah exactly. Purchasing power doesn't account for the lower quality of goods and services. A dinner in Paris is not the same as a dinner in Sofia. And even now the prices are similar

Can someone unbiasedly explain Greece’s situation? It’s been in the EU for 45 years, yet it’s being overshadowed even by post-commie countries that joined the union much later. What is the issue?

Besrax@reddit
The debt crisis was a CATASTROPHE for the Greek economy. There's just no two ways about it. And they still haven't resolved it unfortunately - it will keep holding their growth back for another good while.
Meanwhile, the rest of us were fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of the booming world economy during the past 15 years, and we have achieved pretty respectable growth.
