This reminds me that I'd love to see 9mm optimized for 6-10" barrels
So_muchforstealth@reddit
I really want to try those Lehigh projectiles but I feel like my Stribog would choke on them
Khunning_Linguist@reddit
Late with the question but it's there any viewable testing done with your sbr9mm ammo products? Like Tools and Targets on YouTube or similar?
Sal-LeMandeur@reddit
Poor choice in brand naming IMO
Also I can get Norma frangibles for 40% less at Bi-Mart... Is there a notable difference?
RavenRocksPrecision@reddit (OP)
We sold 5MM+ Norma 94gr frangible bullets considerably below copper material price last year to various hand loaders and small OEMs that were able to pass along some great savings on copper based frangible ammo. These bullets, despite being a copper-polymer hybrid are still 90% copper which is trading today at about $6 per pound. The key takeaway is that there were some great deals on copper frang ammo, many of which probably won’t be back anytime soon. Snatch up what you can if you do find it for a super discount because the bullet alone is probably worth about 20 cents on the components market.
As far as Southern Ballistics Research goes, they’re bigger in the contract loading side and just don’t have the same name recognition that more public facing companies do. Those who shoot 458 SOCOM are more Likely to be aware of them as they were the original loader for 458 SOCOM ammo.
Critical-Regret-97@reddit
Considering that they are around 9-11 cents worth of copper why were they so cheap?
RavenRocksPrecision@reddit (OP)
Just a business decision that helped grow our customer base substantially in 2025.
CowPunchinSodBuster@reddit
It worked
pewpewtomywallet@reddit
Are you getting the 65 grain lipstick norma?
Sal-LeMandeur@reddit
90 I think.
Brilliant-Bat7063@reddit
Weird that the dealer seems to be avoiding questions regarding the details/specs of this ammo
RavenRocksPrecision@reddit (OP)
u/brilliant-bat7063---Nothing to avoid here, we just don't have performance specs on it, and limited overall info because it was acquired with a large lot of various products, we're not seeking out all the details from the OEM since it's just a one time purchase at a price where we can pass on a deal. Most of it was loaded with Starline brass and Zero JHP bullets (pretty good bullet maker). If you search ammoseek, it's the least expensive 9mm JHP ammo on the internet.
Bottom line: not making any claim that it's better, faster, expands better than anything else, but it's a pretty good price for new made in the USA 9mm JHP ammo, especially when most places are charging 25 cents for FMJ etc right now. What we've found is that many folks are happy just to add some JHP to their ammo mix, even if it's not dedicated carry ammo. This fits the bill for many of them.
Brilliant-Bat7063@reddit
Thank you. Appreciate the info!
USSZim@reddit
They already talked about it in the last post. The projectile is unknown, hence the pricing. The manufacturer is GTG, they are a smaller company in Atlanta but they were the original loader for the .458 SOCOM
RavenRocksPrecision@reddit (OP)
I did inquire about the projectile and it was made by Zero. We sell Zero components from time to time. They make nice projectiles.

Individual boxes available as well. Free shipping on all orders over $150. We ship to everywhere that's legal, even if it's a little extra work.
Loaded by SBR in Georgia (USA). Gov Contract loader ammo special. The 9mm 115gr is JHP (not FMJ), and it's 29.9 cents per round for made in the US jacketed hollow point ammunition (free shipping on case quantities).
90gr Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense (Copper Monolithic Screw-driver bits) - LE contract Load
100gr Lead-Free copper-polymer frangible
Rifle ammo deals also available (many loaded with Lehigh bullets).
ladypartliquidator@reddit
What are these 90gr monolithic rounds getting for average velocity from a pistol length (3.5”-4.5”) barrel?
RavenRocksPrecision@reddit (OP)
Honestly, I don't know. We don't have any box data on these. They were loaded for an LE contract. I'd cross-reference the Lehigh load data (free on their site) and it'll probably give you a good idea of the range they're loaded at.
crownvic8@reddit
Are these hollowpoints serviceable? What are the specs/information on them?
brianstheman@reddit
For self defense you're much better off spending on one of the big names, i.e. Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, Hornady Critical Defense. Yes the cost per round is higher, but you're not shooting a ton of these. Maybe you need 100 rounds to start, then 50 per year thereafter as you refresh. Saving $20 in a year probably isn't worth the tradeoff for an unproven self defense option.
Brilliant-Bat7063@reddit
There’s no info on this specific carriage anywhere. Even on the official Southern Ballistic Research website. What is this ammo and what are the specs?
AccomplishedNote7365@reddit
Anyone know if the ammo is gtg
