Before tungsten prices went up I think I got this for about $67 shipped.
More of an in-stock notification for those w a super safety / FRT. code basically ends up covering shipping and tax.
I got this code in my email for 20% off and snagged one. Not sure if you can use it or not: LTR_N4JG7WH9.
SpartanFL@reddit
will the price drop in the future? this "deal" is scary....
panzerdarling@reddit
I used to see these for $36 on sale at PrimaryArms, but glancing over there the standard price has gone up to $75.
So looks like Odin has raised the baseline price.
DwarfHoarder@reddit
Just know these only come with 1 tungsten weight. I had to buy 2 more separately later to get it heavy enough for my frt to work.
Bubbly-Celery-4096@reddit
I’m comparing to my KAK, which has 3 tungsten. I think the SS buffer housing is what’s making up the weight to compare to the KAK.
humidsputh@reddit
The buffer body is also slightly longer than a standard carbine buffer, and the polymer bumper insert is accordingly a little shorter.
The Odin buffer body with 3 tungsten weights is about 7.5 oz.
buckandroll@reddit
That's the config for 9mm, nut since ar14 discounts or dirty Bird sell those for $60 sometimes that's the one to buy because it's easy to go lighter hard to find tungsten
Bubbly-Celery-4096@reddit
That’s an extra heavy buffer.
humidsputh@reddit
It took some extra weight for my suppressed 16" 762x39 AR pig gun to run reliably. I may have done the Odin with 1S and 2T for that gun, which was 6.6 oz--I just don't remember for sure.

•Heavy Buffer made from stainless steel Weights included for different weight combinations -comes with 3 aluminum, 3 stainless steel and 1 tungsten weights (3.7oz – 5.8oz)
How heavy did you need to go? My understanding is standard H3 is 5.6oz. Or is there an advantage to having all tungsten weights ?
DwarfHoarder@reddit
Basically for frts, the overall weight of the buffer is not as important as how heavy the loose weights inside the buffer are. They're what act like a dead blow to keep the bolt from bouncing. This buffer has a heavier body than a normal one so once you get enough weight inside it, you're going to be heavier overall.
you_killed_my_@reddit
Holy shit man you gave me a whole new mode of attack to try and fix my frt situation
Thanks
thehighsman0503@reddit
I have a kenshot hydraulic buffer in my 9mm banshee and the frt is perfect. I haven’t tried on a 556 though
you_killed_my_@reddit
My first choice was maxim defense rdb but that thing is tough to get to cycle
thehighsman0503@reddit
The banshee is already “radial delayed” so not sure that would work for me. I haven’t heard of it before so take that with a grain of rice. The kenshot though is 🤯
you_killed_my_@reddit
My biggest gripe with kynshot is I have trouble getting the bolt to stay locked back
thehighsman0503@reddit
No issues on mine. A5 buffer tube though
steventristeng@reddit (OP)
Seems like ideally you’d want the lite buffer with 3 tungsten weights. (Nothing wrong w heavy buffer body as long as it cycles with all 3 tungsten weights) 3 tungsten weights (tungsten being more dense) would maximize the momentum (m*v) of the dead blow effect thus maximally preventing preventing bolt bounce.
Sound right?
Double_Minimum@reddit
Eabco or similar sold 3 tungsten weights alone for $60. But KAK has a system, and if you really want to go all out, primary has a two tungsten system with slightly extend buffer and runs rifle spring.
Mahlegos@reddit
This is the best deal I’ve found. About $60 shipped for a whole buffer but has three tungsten weights according to folks on the post here two days ago. Places like primary arms are charging $30 each (before shipping and tax) for tungsten weights currently so more than 33% less to go the lanbos route and you get a spare buffer body.
Lawrencedingdog@reddit
Their 9mm version of this is the same size but I think has more than 1 tungsten buffer.
Way_2_Go_Donny@reddit
It warms my heart to know that so many people are learning how important cyclic rate is when mag dumping on a cardboard target at a flat indoor range...
SuperBad123456@reddit
I have the heavy and the light version—these are great for tuning your system.
I’ve read about the set screw backing off on these, though that hasn’t been my experience and I run one of these in an FRT setup. Vibra-tite or Loctite would fix that problem if you have it, though.
Quw10@reddit
I had it happen on mine about 300 rounds in because I forgot to use loctite, but if I remember right somewhere it says to use loctite but I may be mixing that up with another buffer I have. Either way it was on me.

If anyone else was curious about why these NBS buffers were significantly less than others, I just punched out the bumper and the whole item is a solid piece single piece of steel that is painted on the outside. There are not springs, or 3 separate pieces of aluminum or tungsten inside, or even one single weight inside. The whole things appear to get its weight because it was all made from as a single cast or milled item. These would be a great design for the A5 buffers as they might hit about 7.7oz but it looks like everyone should try to snag the tromix buffers and not these: https://dirtybirdusa.com/products/nbs-ar-15-4-9-oz-heavy-buffer__trashed/

is this valuable/useful for an 11.5 that will be shit supressed (low backpressure) and unsupressed some of the time?
Financial-Sir-6021@reddit
Honestly I shoot my 11.5 BA govt with a standard FSB with a carbine buffer and don't have any issues supressed or unsupressed with a YHM Turbo K. Maybe I'm a heathen but I havent really seen the need for heavier buffers yet.
Ernie_McCracken88@reddit
gotcha. I definitely have had an impulse to always seek more stuff and make modifications without any sort of issue with what I have, so I guess I'll pass until I see if 8 actually have an issue
SwissChzMcGeez@reddit
OpticsPlanet had it for $69, too. Free "value" shipping over $100 or something?
shiggyhardlust@reddit
Your coupon code worked great! $68ish shipped. Thanks!
