Weird physical changes?

Not the normal aches and pains or pooping issues ....anything weird happening as you get older?
For example....I get nausea sneezes. I'll get super nauseous all of the sudden and swear I'm gonna vomit but then I sneeze and it all goes away.
Within the span of about 15 seconds.
Bringmesunshine33@reddit
What pooping issues?
Ok-Development2520@reddit
Omg nausea sneezes!! Me too! Always when I’m really hungry. Also, new popping sounds every year..I can “crack” almost every joint in my body. Oh and eye floaters!! I hate them!
saltseasand@reddit
Using a red light panel has gotten rid of my floaties!
butterflygirlFL@reddit
I thought you were supposed to use eye protection with red light therapy? It's too bright to keep your eyes open in my opinion. I use tanning bed glasses and put my sunglasses on over them.
saltseasand@reddit
Lots of studies without needing the eye protection. Take a dive into a floater search on the red light therapy sub - it’s great info! My panel also has options for 10, 50 and 100% power so you can work your way up if it’s too bright.
butterflygirlFL@reddit
Great thank you!!! Very interesting. I don't have floaters yet haha. Maybe it's because I use my small panel at home without the eye protection. When I use the whole body thing at planet fitness, it's very bright so that's when I use my goggles.
jmg733mpls@reddit
For real?! I’m plagued by them and I want them to go away
saltseasand@reddit
Take a dive into the red light therapy sub and search floaters. Lots of studies on it.
Ok-Raspberry-4313@reddit
Seriously? How long did you have them? Do you have to keep using the red light forever?
saltseasand@reddit
I also have rosacea so I use it 3 minutes a day most days but even 3x/week has shown improvement on floaters.
Jacobysmadre@reddit
I have a story about the floaters!!
If it looks like a swarm of bees, that’s not fucking normal!! I had an ophthalmologist tell me it was.. nope, had to have eye surgery and almost lost my eyesight in one eye.
Onsie-twosies is normal.
SeattleSteve62@reddit
Also see a doctor immediately if it's a curtain coming down. Detached retina, my wife had one.
goingloopy@reddit
Also had a detached retina. That surgery sucks hard. You have to keep your head pointing down. All day. All night. For a week.
It’s very common in people who are very nearsighted (prescription > -5.00) because your eyes are already shaped weird. If you’re nearsighted, go get your eyes checked. I had tears in both retinas 10 years before the detachment.
0/10 do not recommend.
SeattleSteve62@reddit
Yeah, she had to sit face down in a massage chair for a long time.
smile_saurus@reddit
I have what I believe to be MCAS - mast cell activation syndrome. It seems to be common among those who also have EDS (hypermobility) and/or POTS (feeling faint upon standing up).
Basically its when two body systems act up at the same time. Nausea + rash. Congestion + diarrhea. Sore ribs + headache. Etc. There are common 'triggers' among those with MCAS, like foods or smells, but not every reacts the same to every one. Basically your body puts out too much histamine, at inappropriate times.
I have had a host of issues that I thought were Perimenopause, Thyroid (that one actually was an issue for awhile), allergies, or just feeling like I was dying in general for no reason.
Testing next week!
Open_Dissent@reddit
The random red moles that aren't moles. Derm said they're just part of getting older. Also my eyes are so uncomfortably dry and scratchy for no good reason
MakeItAll1@reddit
Dry eyes need regular eye drop use. Only use preservative free moisturizing drops, nothing medicated. Also get ready for cataracts. When your vision goes blurry and stays that way, it’s not because your glasses are dirty. It’s because the inner optic lens has developed cataracts. Mine got so bad I was scared to drive.
Cheap_Affect5729@reddit
I really dislike those red not moles. They're very annoying.
MissSmkNmirrors@reddit
Get eye moisturizing drops STAT! It could save your vision. They’re very reasonably priced at Costco
chamrockblarneystone@reddit
My left lower eyelid just started drooping. I looked like a butler in a haunted mansion!
I had to get reconstructive surgery. When I asked the surgeon “wtf?” He said “gravity.” Fuck me.
icrossedtheroad@reddit
Are you a female? If so, it's menopause. So many fun experiences outside of just wanting to die.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
Some would have thought the username would have given it away.
Maybe it's MANopause.
kckitty71@reddit
I lost my mind during menopause. I warned people to stay away from me because I didn’t want to say things to hurt them. I felt like I was going insane.
Tealme1688@reddit
I can’t bend over and straighten up unless I have a countertop to hold onto: otherwise I go right back to the floor because of vertigo. I also have a tremor in my left hand that is noticeable when I write.
RefugeefromSAforums@reddit
Might actually be orthostatic hypotension. Have you taken your BP when this happens?
Tealme1688@reddit
I have not, but it gets mentioned at my yearly physical.
FloppyFerrett1@reddit
Get checked for an essential tremor, if not parkinson's or something else. There are treatments for some versions of tremors.
Tealme1688@reddit
The tremor gets checked each year. Due to family history of dementia, I’m keeping an eye on this!!!
StephDos94@reddit
Effing skin tags
MakeItAll1@reddit
Skin tags are also common in areas where clothes rubs on the skin, like undergarments.
Pleasant-Minute-1793@reddit
This can be a sign of metabolic issues and being pre diabetic.
StephDos94@reddit
Oh wonderful
Straight_Cod_3510@reddit
YES.
chevytravis@reddit
I can't eat eggs anymore 😕 they give me explosive diarrhea 💥
nicculus@reddit
Don't get me started on pooping issues...IBS, gastritis...yea getting old! I also get the nausea sneeze thing. It is like a sneezing fit and get clammy. Pain is what we have to look forward to it seems. I think Buddha said something about this.

I go to work very early, leaving my house at around 3:45. Some mornings when I step outside I get extremely nauseated until I get into my truck, then it quickly fades.
Cer-rific_43@reddit
Noisy ribs. I had an unidentified ailment with crippling gut pains for 5 days. Evert since it sounds like air bubbles squeaking up my rib cage on my left side.
Twinklehead@reddit
This sounds like possible subcutaneous emphysema. It’s pretty serious. I recommend a look up and if it sounds right, make an appt with your gp.
NotEasilyConfused@reddit
Don't even bother looking it up first.
That isn't normal, and it came on after an acute illness. It needs checked.
Cer-rific_43@reddit
Even if its been 7 years?
Social_Introvert_789@reddit
Double vision. At first I thought it was just blurry and needed a new glasses prescription. But the subtitles on tv is what made me realize it’s a ghosting image.
At times it’s worse than others. So much so, that I dont like to drive when it’s dark (cause lights will really showcase the double vision), and if it’s dark and rainy I WONT drive. Too dangerous.
RaymondLuxYacht@reddit
The tinnitus. Most of the time it's just in the background, but more and more often it is making it difficult to hear.
SeattleSteve62@reddit
I worked on Double Dare. All the physical challenges were weird.
My favorites were the grape stomping tank (I built that), and Pies in the Pants, I had nothing to do with that. I also built a giant Lego drawbridge for the obstacle course and some crazy stuff for Family Double Dare. My first real job in the industry and some of the best years of my life.
cymbalbanginmonkey@reddit
Thanks Steve. Let’s get you back to your chair.
kckitty71@reddit
Double Dare? Thank you for your service.

StephDos94@reddit
Good ole Steve
Mostly_Nohohon@reddit
I don't know that it's weird but I hate it nonetheless...
The hairs growing in and on my ear. I had to look up what's it's called but I get hair on my Tragus both the inside and outside. And lighter hair on the Helix and lobe. It ridiculous how fast they grow back after tweezing them too.
Also the eyebrows. I'll look and have one crazy one that's just standing straight up and twice as long as the rest. Like where the F did you come from? I knew pains from out of nowhere were coming and all the other stuff but no one ever mentioned I'd have to look at my ears for little hair every single day.
Red-Cat77@reddit
Apparently old man hair takeover has begun for you. A couple times a month, I get out the good tweezers and do hubby's ears, then I take his mustache scissors and do his eyebrows to tame those crazy hairs and then the escaping nose hairs. Fun times...lol
Note: Don't do the nose and ear waxing. You do need the hairs in your nose to filter what you breathe in. Plus it looks like it hurts like hell!
Mostly_Nohohon@reddit
I just hope I never get to the point where I just give up and have a bushel of hair in my ears lol. I have a nose hair trimmer and no way in hell would I ever do nose waxing. I've seen some YouTube videos of people having that done... And absolutely, no thank you. I also saw something on Amazon that you apparently put inside your nose and it grabs the hairs and then you press and button and it literally yanks them out. 😬. That's just torture right there.
vegemitecrumpet@reddit
I am finding soooo many cysts! Putting on sunscreen, lotion, whatever.... they are not visible, but every other day I accidentally find another one. Apparently it isn't concerning... idk
DawgnationNative@reddit
I do that as a reaction to too much CBD THC.
Diligent-Touch-5456@reddit
I've had more acne since I turned 60 than I ever did in my teens/20s.
ProduceSimilar@reddit
Male or female ? Get your androgens checked. (Ovarian cancer symptom ?
Diligent-Touch-5456@reddit
Female, I get all of that checked after my cancer (vulvar) surgery, they watch me close.

I had clear skin for my first puberty. Second puberty ... Pimple patches are my friend.
Diligent-Touch-5456@reddit

At some point in my 40s, I got cystic acne. Not bad but bad enough. A single “pimple” turns into a red, painful MT. Everest.
Coyote-American@reddit
I’ve developed some kind of floating fluid behind my right ear that will cause random episodes of vertigo. Doctors can’t figure it out. Pseudoephedrine and Loratadine keep it at bay.
r7pxrv@reddit
Blood Pressure - no apparent cause, my weight is good, reasonably active (10K dog walking/day), don't eat any crap (I cook everything from scratch, no processed shite), sure I like my booze within limits.....
I'm now on BP meds.
hockeyhippie@reddit
Did they check your hemoglobin? My wife was having unexplained high blood pressure and it turned out to be a blood cancer. The heart was working hard to compensate for poorly functioning red blood cells.
r7pxrv@reddit
Bloods all good, liver function and ultrasound all good, kidneys great, no thyroid issues.... Been to the GP today and they are chalking it up to age/genetics so back in six months for a review!
hockeyhippie@reddit
No worries, she's doing well now. I just mention this now whenever I hear about that issue since it was a shock to both of us. 🙂
r7pxrv@reddit
Sure is, my wife had a life long negative diagnosis six years ago, it's not terminal but life limiting. It's hard to deal with at first but we take each day/week/month/year for what positives we can get.
Take care of each other.

I can definitely relate. Hold those moments preciously. Nothing prepares you for these events. She's on the recovery side of a bone marrow transplant and we're trying to find normal again but we know the definition of normal is not the same anymore. Wishing you both the best.

47% of those over 50 are on BP meds I just checked. It is way more genetic than people think.
r7pxrv@reddit
That sounds like a US stat....
In the UK it's about 30%
Straight_Cod_3510@reddit
Whole body aches. Not just joints. Everything. From fingers to toes. And a weird feeling that electricity is randomly running through my body. An absolute inability to lose weight. At all. Skin getting discolored. And on and on and on, lol.

Itchy ear canals. An effect of menopause. What a stupid symptom! Moving along with no problem and then sudden horrendous pain from a muscle cramp. Skin that is so dry that lotion disappears like water into concrete. Hairs sprouting on my nose! My. Nose. Not in my nose, ON my nose. My eyebrows turning grey. Whatever has caused my toenails to get thicker. So many stupid symptoms and I hate them all.
Red-Cat77@reddit
So that's what's with my ears itching all the freakin time. Who knew!? None of the stuff I have read mentioned that particular gem of a symptom of Menopause.
Here's three other things to add to your list, those long hairs on your neck and chin. They start off dark and eventually start going white. The little fuckers...The hair on my head thinning and the hair down THERE turning white & gray. FML indeed! And don't get me started on the aches & pains. I have several autoimmune conditions that have just gotten worse with age...I didn't sign up for any of this shit!!...le sigh
meandhimandthose2@reddit
I had weight loss surgery about 18 months ago and lost a lot of hair. It's been growing back the past 6 months, but, that's not my hair!! It's curly and course and wild. I don't know how to deal with it!!
WrecklessOptimist@reddit
Flonase on a Q-tip for the itchy ears! Works like a charm.
Medusa_7898@reddit
Your doctor can prescribe Royal Oil for the ears too. Solves the itch and helps prevent wax buildup too. Another fun growing old thing.
Straight_Cod_3510@reddit
I did NOT know that, and needed to. Itchy ears. Thank you! Charlie horses as well.
Inessence4@reddit
That’s what the itchy ear canals are about!? FML

OMG I HAVE THIS TOO! Think I’m going to projectile vomit and then I sneeze. Pretty sure it has something to do with the Vagus nerve. Maybe compression or some type of dysautonomia (I have a lot of that, thanks Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.)

CorrectCondition9458@reddit
My nose runs everytime I eat. It’s disgusting going out and having to blow your nose in the middle of eating. Happens to my dad also and now my daughter 39 is starting to have same problem. No dr can explain.
XanaxWarriorPrincess@reddit
My whole face is super oily. It's disgusting to touch after I wake up. So gross!
Obvious-Bid-6110@reddit
Sometimes people's faces make more oil if the skin is all dehydrated and the skin barrier is shot. Paradoxically, aggressive moisturizing can make your skin less oily.
XanaxWarriorPrincess@reddit
That's interesting! I'll try that, thanks!
Mysterious_Can_6106@reddit
Mine runs non stop! You know the little old lady that keeps a tissue in her sleeve .. that’s me and I’m 53!

Hi. 48F… I have “snot stations” at work… a box of Kleenex in easy access to me to snatch one on the fly … I run a shop. Even so, every so often a drop will get away from me. It would be embarrassing if I hadn’t already burned through my allotment of fucks to give.
Kinda nice that part about getting older, not caring so much about what people think about you.
frog980@reddit
Ear hair, I have to shave that about twice a week or it gets long. I also am near sighted, so much I always wire glasses. I'm now at the point I can take my glasses off now to read fine print or read on my phone
CorrectCondition9458@reddit
Same with glasses. They gave me bifocals but I see better close up reading and phone when I don’t wear them. Distance vision still sucks.

I just want to warn folks about shingles and whooping cough. You don’t want either. Ever. Vaccinate. It’s not political. It’s to avoid your deep suffering. Had shingles in my ear 😩 and whooping cough (pertussis) for what it seemed like months. I had to start wearing poise pads it was that horrible.
TylerDurdenEsq@reddit
Do we need a whooping cough vaccine now, like a booster? I was assuming that was one of our childhood vaccines but I don’t know for sure
Haunting_Bottle7493@reddit
It's the Tdap. every 10 years for tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis aka whooping cough. Kids get the Dtap which is the same vaccine
CorrectCondition9458@reddit
Just got my TDAP booster. Always get your vaccinations. At an older age it can literally be a life or death mayter

Great-Tical-Returns@reddit
I used to get horrible foot and calf cramps. Try doing toe fists. Scrunch your toes up as tight as you can like making a fist, then spread them as far as you can. A couple of reps loosens up the parts that cramp.
000ttafvgvah@reddit
I find that happens when I spend too much time in one day standing.

I was doing the sneeze and pee thing. Saw a new Excercise called the Frog. Because we were taught Kegels would keep it tight. And the pee and stop pee and stop wasn't helping cause i wanna keep on peeing and can't stop. But the Frog position has helped with the sneeze and pee. I'm not sneezing and peeing so much. But I'm still crossing my legs just in case. 😅

No one ever talked about atrophy and your vag getting wrinkly and low libido and dry vag with menopause. Thank goodness for no periods but the trade off was unexpectedly brutal.
Obvious-Bid-6110@reddit
I hope you have discovered the miracles of vaginal estrogen!
poppyannebutterfly@reddit
No. Dr said too big a breast cancer risk. It runs in my family history
NotEasilyConfused@reddit
Please get a second opinion. Estrogen applied vaginally doesn't get absorbed enough systemically to affect breast cancer risk.
poppyannebutterfly@reddit
I will! Thank you!

new facial marks. A new mole but it's not a mole it's just this random bump on your face and you're looking in the mirror and going like wtf is that !?
XanaxWarriorPrincess@reddit
They could be seborrheic keratoses, aka geriatric warts. Both names are horrid, so my dermatologist calls them wisdom bumps or wisdom markers" or wisdom somethings* I can't remember the second word.
It could also be a skin-colored mole. I have a new one of those too.
Ckc1972@reddit
I get those keratoses. They suck. I am also getting tons of spider veins on my face from rosacea. So people probably think I am an alcoholic.
Ok-Development2520@reddit
Dermatologists can take care of all of these things folks.
Ckc1972@reddit
Sure can. Insurance doesn't cover it and it costs a fortune.

I’m pretty sure my brain sprung a leak a couple days ago. I was lying down, and when I sat up, a thin translucent fluid started profusely dripping from my nose. I grabbed tissues, and it soaked a couple of them before stopping. After extensive Googling, I believe I had a leak of cerebrospinal fluid, which sounds terrible but usually isn’t. I spent the rest of the day waiting to die, but all seems to be fine now.
ExtraAd7611@reddit
Thin translucent fluids drip from my nose pretty much every day. But I think it's always snot. Are you sure it wasn't snot?
SpiralStairs72@reddit
I’m fairly sure it was not snot. It was the consistency of water, and my nose was not otherwise runny or stuffy or anything. It turns out that CSF leaks are not that uncommon and they usually heal on their own.

Snot is often the consistency of water.

I reached for a glass and something like a tendon popped. My hand blew up like a balloon and bruised. It still hurts and is slightly swollen 3 weeks later. WTH?
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
I was unloading a mattress at the dump a couple years ago, nothing very strenuous.....I ripped my bicep tendon off the bone. Sounded like breaking a bunch of celery in half. Surgery and another piece of metal in my body.
Solid-Wish-1724@reddit
Omg! That must've hurt like a bitch. The internal noise is super weird, like you hear it but you... don't. I'm wondering if I need surgery but I hate bothering with doctors.

You should definitely go. Hands are important, and ligaments are tricky.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
The things with tendons is the repair window is short if it's ruptured. It'll retract and then it can't be put back in place. They told me a week to 10 days but after that there's was nothing they could do.

Nausea sneezes are from poor vagus nerve tone. Check out somatic stretches and vagus nerve reset stretches. I started about two years ago and have never felt better. It also processes trauma out of the body very efficiently.
KittenFace25@reddit
This hasn't happened for around a month now, but I started to get these hard and fast sneezes where I would sneeze 3-4 times in fast succession, but then when I would go to catch my breath, I'd need to swallow, but then that swallow would trigger 3-4 more sneezes, then another swallow/3-4 sneezes...and after a few of those I'm desperate for a breath because I can't stop the sneeze/swallow cycle long enough to catch my breath and it would get a little scary because I was afraid I would pass out or something from not breathing.
Luckily I was always able to sneak in a breath, just enough to keep me upright.
That had never happened to me previously, and being that it hasn't happened in a month or so now, I'm hoping that was just a one-off kind of thing.

I've been through a bunch of cancer treatment over the last five years, and so it's hard to tell what would have happened to me but for that. I spent most of my life burning hot, and now I'm cold all the time. I sleep with a cranked up electric blanket in summer...in South Texas. I lost about 90+% of my body hair going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but it's been enough time that I should have resumed some semblance of normal hair growth, but no. The very few patches of hair that came back are so sparse that I would look like a lunatic with a terminal case of mange if I didn't shave them. So now I have that extra chore. I lost so much weight while sick that I'm still struggling to get back up to a healthy weight, and I never expected to have that problem after forty. Now my boney ass gets sore sitting too long on big fluffy cushions! Everything tastes wrong to me now, because the chemo meds kept hitting the reset button my taste buds for so long. I have a lifetime of sense memories regarding my favorite and least favorite foods and flavor combinations, but almost none of those expectations and memories sync up with how those things taste to me now. My saliva is noticeably thicker, and more viscous. This might just be age, but I don't trust anything to be normal for me at this point. I just recently started getting the occasional pimple on my face again, and I pretty much had my last such outbreak in my early twenties.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)

Thanks. Cancer is one of the few things in life that really lives up to the hype. The downside of that is that all the hype for cancer is of the negative sort. It's done wonders for sharpening up my gallows humor though.

I hear you… I’m similar, not being sure which to blame - aging or cancer treatments. A lot of what I read in the comments I assumed were from my cancer treatments over the years - snausea, no body hair, metal taste, food aversions, etc. I guess we get the “best” of both worlds, both aging AND cancer treatment effects. Good luck to you, friend. Hope you’re managing ok. 👍🏻 ❤️

My poop has gotten really aggressive for some reason. I hate pooping at work so I tried holding it all the way home. I had to use every muscle in my butt to keep from shitting in the car. So I make it home and scuttle in the kitchen door and I made it about 3 steps before the poop started rolling down my legs into my Hey Dudes and filling them up. The overflow created a huge puddle under me that got me dry heaving. So. I manage to get my shorts off and I step out of my shit dudes and underwear came last. As I’m standing bare assed like Winnie the Pooh and trying to clean my Mom comes walking in as I’m bent down with my bare ass hanging out. Ever since this happened I cannot trust a fart, I’ve shit the bed while asleep more than twice thus far and the powerful gas pressure is impossible to tame. LowKaleidoscope3342@reddit
I know that surgery was decades ago, but how many hours did it last? And were you totally out or semi-conscious? I'm scheduled for an endoscopy this coming month and I think it's a hiatal hernia that's causing my symptoms.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
I was definitely out, general anesthesia. It was laparoscopic and I don't remember how long but pretty sure less than 2 hours after they wheeled me in.
Soft foods for a week and then I had to be careful about what I ate for a few months...nothing funny or hard to swallow. Always had to have liquid to swallow food with for a while.
The worst part was the esophageal motility study to be sure I could swallow hard enough before the surgery. I snorted a bunch of KY and they shoved a sensor up my nose and into my throat and I slipped water while they measured my swallowing strength. The tech was gorgeous and I was miserable. 😂
Best thing I ever did. I was miserable and had ulcers in my esophagus. Probably haven't had heartburn 5 times in the 27 years since after having it daily even with double prescription Prilosec (before it was available OTC). Doc told me it was surgery or I'd eventually get stomach cancer from that much Prilosec.
Hopefully they figure out what's best for you. I know that's miserable. Wish you all the best.

Weird, I thought I was the only one that happened to. I'll get sharp hunger pangs, which in turn, turn into a heavy nauseas episode, then sneeze five or six times and it's gone. The worst part is that it usually happens when I'm driving, either going to, or coming from the grocery store.
Cold-Response-6917@reddit
At 41 I developed canker sores. Constant canker sores on tongue, lips, gums, palate, cheeks. I would have upward of 6-10 at any given time. There was almost no reprieve at any time. It was pain/misery to a point that led me to seriously wonder how I'd be able to continue living like that the rest of my days.
Took 5.5 years of living with that. Using Orajel like mouthwash just so I could chew. Living off of smoothies and changing everything. Cut smoking, coffee, spicy food, changed toothpaste, worked on stress levels etc.
Anyway it was gluten. I developed a gluten intolerance at 41 that manifests in rampant canker sores whenever I get a dose of wheat flour. Given I lived off pizza, pasta, and sandwiches up to that point ...it took a while to figure out.
r7pxrv@reddit
I had too Google "canker sores" - Mouth Ulcers for us in the UK.

Round-Public435@reddit
So glad you figured that out!
For me, I dealt with what I thought was a wheat allergy for years, and it gradually got so bad that I couldn't eat wheat without sneezing my head off and getting hives on my face. I thought for sure it was a gluten intolerance or wheat allergy.
Turns out, it's not - at least not in my case. It's actually part of an immune disorder I have. Went to an allergist/immunologist to try to figure out why wheat was causing such an issue and have allergy testing done, and after he asked about my medical history (including childhood illnesses), he knew immediately this wasn't an allergy. I had repeated bouts of upper respiratory disorders, strep, bronchitis, etc - I was on antibiotics almost constantly for much of my childhood, because I was always sick. I've had pneumonia 5x as an adult, which isn't normal. The doctor ordered tests immediately - the whole spectrum of immune disorders. It wasn't Lupus or anything like that - but turns out my body doesn't make pneumococcal antibodies - I had almost none at all - so that's why I couldn't fight off those illnesses on my own.
Had to get the pneumonia vaccine about 15 years earlier than most do, but that helped bump them up. They're still not at 100% normal levels, but they're better than they were.
I still have to limit how much wheat I eat, because that's still a problem, but it's not as bad as it was before.
Leucotheasveils@reddit

If they're little balls, that's usually a spastic colon. You probably have poops that are a bunch of little balls stuck together sometimes, too. Baby poops look that way because humans have spastic colons at birth. They regulate as we grow. Source: my gastroenterologist.

I developed an abscess on my large intestine in the right side where the colon makes a turn to go across the body. Had no idea. Has a small ache below my belly button. Didn’t think much of it. Then the fever came on. Went to urgent care. Luckily I had a good doctor who sent me to ER. That’s when they discovered “the mass” via cat scan. ER Dr told me I’d get an oncologist and they would start treating me. Luckily, someone read the cat scan and saw it was an abscess. Not the greatest news but better than cancer. I had 4 bacterial infections and had to have about a 1/3 of the colon removed. Took the appendix as well. After a couple of procedures and heavy antibiotics, all turned out well. The only puzzling question is they have no idea how the abscess developed. No sign of diverticulitis.

Sometimes when flip over in bed I get a wave of nausea and dizziness and my eyes involuntarily move back and forth rapidly. Lasts about 10 seconds. I get this for 3-4 nights then it stops. I’ve had this happen twice, just last week and about 18 months ago.
After Googling I found out it’s caused by a calcium crystal that broke loose that is floating in the middle ear causing an imbalance.
And it’s common in people in their 50’s-60’s. Yay. 🥴

Dada2fish@reddit
Yes I will. I read there are certain physical maneuvers that can be done that are effective at clearing the loose crystal free from the middle ear.
But the maneuver you do depends on whether your eyes move horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Once I read this I paid attention to which way my vision moved the next time my eyes wiggled and I’m a horizontal person. But yes, I’ll tell my doctor about it. TY!

Recent POTS diagnosis explained a LOT. It wasn't "anxiety", just my blood pressure tanking and my heart working OT to stabilize. Also discovered it can be genetic - my grown daughter has it too. I’ve had nausea sneezes most of my life. It’s low blood sugar. Eat something and I bet you’ll feel better.
Feeling-Pea5281@reddit
My ex had low blood sugar, and would eat something high in protein when a crash was coming on. Would protein also be the best solution for nausea sneezes?
twistedivy@reddit
It is for me.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
Weird. But it usually just happens one time that day and maybe not again for a couple days and I feel 100% again after the sneeze.
Goes2_Eleven@reddit
It’s your vagus nerve. I had the nausea sneezes for years and finally just asked my doctor about it.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)

Bob_Sacamano7379@reddit
Kind of opposite of what you're saying, I almost never sneeze anymore! When I do, it's really noteworthy, because I swear I haven't sneezed in months.
Lonesome_Soul68@reddit
Same here! It’s the oddest thing, and when I do sneeze it’s enough to make me feel dizzy.
JudgeJuryEx78@reddit
Huh. I've noticed more occurrence of faioed sneezes lately. I feel the need to sneeze, then the sneeze doesn't come and it goes away.
NicolePSU@reddit
Oh Ive gotten vomit sneezes before. I googled it and its normal. I mean, it happens every once in awhile, if its frequent, maybe it's not normal.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)

BallsOutSally@reddit
Sounds like a link between your vagus nerve and trigeminal nerve. You are not by chance a jaw clencher or grinder, are you?

I was 6'8" tall, but have lost an inch. It doesn't what time of day I measure my height. That inch is gone. And my toenails need wire snips to trim them. They're so darn thick nowadays.
truejabber@reddit
How old are you? I’m 6’8” and at my last physical, shortly before my 55th birthday, I assumed I’d have started shrinking but I hadn’t. I do have some lovely back and spinal issues though.
Seattlescape@reddit
I am three months shy of 60. For decades, standing barefoot, in the morning, I was 6'7-3/4" tall. I naturally rounded up to 6'8". Also, for years my inseam was 36". Now my inseam is a solid 32" and I am 6'6-3/4" tall, standing barefoot in the morning. Recently I purchased a pair of Hoka Gaviota running shoes with some high-end orthotics and I'm back to an even 6'8" tall. I'm getting more double takes again. Now if I could just get myself to respond with a Tom Cruise-like toothy smile instead of the goofy grin I have I might get warmer responses from people.
truejabber@reddit
Ah so maybe it’s nigh for me. My dad was 6’4” but he definitely shrunk over time. My feet have started to flatten, so maybe it has begun. I’m not looking forward to it, but then again I wouldn’t mind not having to duck through doorways.
Roseliberry@reddit
Thick toenails can be an indicator of diabetes and/or poor circulation. Based on your height you could be rocking some Marfan syndrome.
Seattlescape@reddit
I am diabetic. Type 2. It's probably related the Diabetic Neuropathy I have been suffering from for the past three decades.
truejabber@reddit
By our age Marfan’s would likely be diagnosed or have killed by now. Life expectancy of undiagnosed Marfan’s is about 45. Thankfully more doctors are aware of it than they used to be.

I have multiple chronic pain issues but I manage. For two years I had off and on dizziness worse with heat. Suddenly in Jan my heart rate spiked and I passed out and my husband couldn’t get me to come to it happened twice in one week and I was taken to the er. Er Dr mentioned dysautonomia and I was referred to cardiology I saw my primary who did a heart monitor for a few days and she also agreed with the er Dr. I did see cardiology but they were dismissive I had a tilt table and was diagnosed with orthostatic intolerance which is like pots. My cardiologist says nothing is wrong with me so back to the GP for a new referral. I have dizziness and pass out usually not as bad as the first two times. If I eat my symptoms get worse. Figured my metabolism was just slowing and my monthly was much worse than ever before… like need an iron infusion so you don’t die, bad. Turns out I had fibroids the size of cantaloups. Surgery seemed to go well, can’t wait for the recovery process to be over and to have my energy back.

Wow! I'm so glad they figured it out. Heal quickly! Better life ahead!

I didn't know until 53 that pooping could be a blood sport.

Um... You might wanna see a doctor about that buddy

Recovery form workouts is now longer, and my stomach can't deal with coffee or alcohol.

It takes my brain forever to boot up in the morning, no matter how much sleep I get. I used to pop out of bed and was ready to go in like five minutes. Now I shuffle around like a zombie for an hour, even after coffee.
Natural-Pineapple886@reddit
Do a sleep study for severe apnea. Get the chapter machine. It's life changing.
Melissaschwart@reddit
Me too it takes me at least 2 hours of scrolling before i actually start the day
Moonsmom181@reddit
Try waiting to have your morning coffee. Make sure you get some sun or light first. There’s a hormone that helps you become alert and it gets blocked when caffeine is ingested.
I learned of this about a year or so ago and it’s a game changer.

I got a nice weird crick or what not last night i just got up from my chair, heard a pop then a nice little sting of electricity in my middle back for a good 4mins.
Pure_Floyd_Smernitch@reddit
Just about this time last year I thought I pulled a muscle in both arms. Weak, pins and needles. Comes with aging, I thought. Anyway my 4 level spinal surgery was eye opening.
Don't brush off symptoms like I did
sidewaysbynine@reddit
I am well past my prime at 58, I do not consider any of my ailments, aches and pains to be weird. I consider them to be consequences, I did the dumb things in my youth that led to repercussions I am currently experiencing. I have had many broken bones, over 200 stitches, 17 concussions. I did it to myself and neither ask for nor deserve any sympathy for reaping what I sowed. All that being said, I really enjoyed my youth and absolutely wouldn't trade a minute of the crazy stuff I did. The memories are awesome.
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
I hear you. I have 26 pieces of metal in my body in 4 different locations. Many broken bones and scars from surgery/stitches.

I get the nausea sneezes if I’m super hungry. But have had them since mid-childhood.
HighJeanette@reddit
OMG this just started with me but I have vomited!
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
Oh yikes. That's awful. I swear I'm about to but then the sneeze (a single) and it's gone.
HighJeanette@reddit
It started last year when I was going through chemo and I thought the reaction was because of the chemo. (Which I’m sure triggered this reaction) But just yesterday (no chemo since September and cancer free now) I sneezed and vomited! lol.
Junior_Statement_262@reddit
My neck pops 4 out of 7 nights as I'm hitting the pillow.
Komaisnotsalty@reddit
Oh, absolutely.
I sneeze and fall over dizzy. Also get dizzy when I look up or squint.
Random stabbing pain in random places, like someone just jabbed me with an ice pick. I yelp, then it's gone.
My feet crack something fierce when I first stand up.
Weird solid white thin sily hairs growing out of nowhere that you don't notice until they're 8 feet long or something.
Same random solid white hairs but on the chin and they're outright whiskers and tough as hell to yank out.
My fingernails and hair have drastically changed.
It's like I hit 50 and my body has now spent the last 5 years cackling maniacally while doing weird Frankenstein experiments.
LaVida2@reddit
The gray hairs have a completely dif texture than the rest of the hair on my head.
Melissaschwart@reddit
Yep like pubes
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
I don't know if it's related but plucking a grey nose hair feels like it's rooted to the main pain nerve center. A black one, no big deal.

Yeah, it sucks when they are the ones sticking out all weird

I am losing hair everywhere I want it, and growing a luxurious forest everywhere I don't. Eyebrows migrate south, apparently. Who knew?
OptiGuy4u@reddit (OP)
I know the feeling.

The first time she trimmed my eyebrows when I was getting my hair cut was traumatic. She just did it, no warning. “Damn it! I’m old!! Sigh”
CoastRooted@reddit
The physical changes between 45 and 55 are dramatic. I am very active and in great shape but wow. The aches and pains. I have arthritis in my knees, back, and hips. I make noises when I stand up and my first few steps in the morning are stiff as hell. I still do everything I used to do just for not as long—shorter hikes, bikes and gym time. CBD helps a lot.
No-Win-2741@reddit
I went to get on a swing a couple of years ago and got nauseous.
I have IBS with constipation and when that's acting up I get migraines.
And my body has developed some weird symptoms when I'm starting to get sick. It doesn't matter what I'm getting sick with, I will have these symptoms for 2 or 3 days and then full blown either the flu or pneumonia or ulcerative colitis or wtf-ever.
There are some more but those are the big ones and they probably come about in the last 10 years.
ave427@reddit
I’m now afraid of heights and get claustrophobic. Never did when I was younger. In fact, it was only about 15 years ago when I explored a cave and had no issues. As for the height thing, I’ll never go on a roller coaster again. Used to love them.

Last month I keep getting muscle spasms. I also started taking b vitamins regularly, so I think that's true
Ray_The_Engineer@reddit
59/M, I pinched a nerve a while back in my left arm. It was VERY painful and took a while for someone to properly diagnose. I've never had anything like that in my life.
CommissarCiaphisCain@reddit
Not so much weird but frustrating. I weigh around the same as I did at high school graduation in 1984 but the weight is now in completely different (and less flattering) places!
I still run, work out at the gym, and eat pretty healthy. But dammit no matter what I do my body refuses to look anything like it did :(
