Your own link shows that a lot of Western Europe has a higher foreign born population as a percentage of total population. Of course it'll have more total being a larger nation in general.
America is in a grey area of sorts. It's good enough to where people from poorer countries are willing to immigrate to find a better life, but at the same time shitty enough to where us citizens realize how much we're being fucked over compared to other first world countries.
What first world country's living conditions are better than the us? I don't think there are any, even "poor" americans live better than 90% of the world
Not really, europe is way worse, because you have to be a decent human being to live a good life, you can be a horrible person and still have a good life quality in the us
Free Healthcare and college tuition I can name off the top of my head. Also better food regulations, walkable city centers, better public transportation, better work hours and benefits like more vacation days and parental leave, better consumer protection laws and standards, better environmental practices, etc...
Numbo 2025 quality of life index puts the US at 14th, behind the scandi countries, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Netherlands. Safety, healthcare, economic affordability and education are some of the key factors.
I don't like the direction our country has been going, but I'm kind of sick of internet addled kids who don't go outside circle jerking about how it's hell on earth
Yeah i saw a recent poll on r/italian asking people who they thought was europe's biggest enemy. 30ish percent of the votes went to Russia (of course) and then a low percentage was among the other options like china and iran, but another goddamn 30 percent went to the US and 15ish to Israel. That is braindead. Trump is stirring up problems in NATO and setting up those extra taxes on imported goods whose english name i don't remember. Putin is directing the first land war in europe in the 21st century and has openly said he could start considering other european countries as targets if they keep helping ukraine.
Sadly what America does, affects everyone else on planet. So when Trump messes up badly, everyone feels it. It's really easy to hate on America thanks to that.
People from others Latam countries say shit of my country (🇨🇴)
Someone from a first world country agrees
All my neighbors from Latam stop shitting at my country and instead say shit on the foreigner's one
We’ve been at war for ages man, we are like the Balkan countries where we all just hate on eachother, but unite if an American or other outsider starts hating on us
You keep at it mate. Serbia will drop the ball soon enough, and you'll be ready, beer in hand and slur on tongue when that moment comes. I believe in you!
Did you? Because every time I see Indians discussing their country's problems online, they bring up Britain supposedly causing them even though they fucked off 80 years ago now. The way I see it you get away with that for ten, maybe twenty years max if the foreign occupiers really fuck everything up, and then it's a skill issue to not fix it.
Imagine one nation steals all your money and resources, dismantles all your industries, institutions and many aspects of society, discriminates and oppresses you for 200 years, sharpens social divides, leaves you a drained, poor shithole and then some chud online calls it a "skill issue", low IQ regarded take.
"dismantles all your industries institutions and aspects of your society"
Instituted universities across the country, created the largest irrigation system in the world at the time, and abolished Sati and infanticide practices.
This is after cooperation of the east India company with indian administration failed.
But you're right, it'd take more than 80 years to come back from. Ignore the living standards of Vietnam, who were exploited for a thousand years by Chinese rule, then colonial rule, then Japanese occupation, then reoccupation by the French in another war that resulted in the complete division of their country along the 17th parallel following Viet Minh resistance, then having a corrupt regime instated by US backers in the south, Then a second large war, which sent the country into turmoil again until the removal of western backed regimes in the south by 1975. Then another couple of small conflicts with China and Cambodia. Who now have higher liveability standards and lower unemployment despite having to build their infrastructure from being bombed to oblivion.
Low IQ takes. All those universities for what? For the literacy rate to remain 12% after they left. All those irrigation systems for what? For efficient extraction of cash crops which the farmers were forced to grow instead of food crops which resulted in famines and the deaths of millions? You think all those social reforms were done in a vacuum? Some good British gentleman woke up one day and decided to abolish those practices? No, they were pushed by Indian reformers, the British only constitutionalized them. Take a few cherrypicked examples whilst completely ignoring the slavery, indentured labor, sharpening social and religious divides, trillions of worth in modern USDs stolen, 10s of millions killed in famines, taking the second largest economy in the world with 25% share in global GDP to just 4% share. Also, you're comparing apples to oranges, India was the richest or second richest (after China) country in the world for most of history, the British took that and turned it into a poster child for 3rd world poverty, Vietnam on the other hand, was a mountainous coastal strip with no significant natural resources, so all that foreign occupation wouldn't have done anything to them anyway. It's like taking over a prosperous civilization and turning it into a shithole vs taking over something which is already a shithole. You know which other country lacks natural resources and is very mountainous? Japan. The fact that Vietnam hasn't caught up to them by now is a massive skill issue for them.
A bit of both. when they left they made sure to stir up a lot of shit and leave all the institutions and power systems deeply flawed and broken. While most problems continue to exist due to incompetence and malice by Indian politicians, the seeds were planted by the british.
Poverty and overpopulation existed during the british too. They knew it and left the place so that it would crumble and never get on its feet again.
The fact that we persevered and didn’t lose our identity, or got islamisized like every other country is a miracle in itself.
You don’t outdo multiple centuries of resource extraction and systematic planned collapse in ten or twenty years.
Your issue is that it's no longer just chuds, it seeped into the mainstream too. Hell, even liberal stacies are disgusted beyond measure and they tend to be the trendsetters to the contemporary mores. )
On the internet maybe. I am big on traveling, never faced racism from a non Indian ever. Post covid I thought racism would be an issue, but none faced so far.

Wait what's this designated streets business? Did someone talk about making designated women only streets like japan's trains to reduce sexual assault cases?
Absolutely cooked how things went. Do you think it was better when Apu was where it started and ended as far as people's views on indians was concerned? Now everyone has a very specific set of views about your people
Eh, who cares. All my interactions with non indians have been mostly positive, no outright racism. I don’t really plan on moving out of here so the image thing doesn’t really affect me
Europeans coming out of the woodwork to say something about their countries when the thread topic is specifically talking about countries in Southeast Asia.

However, for now I ask that you do not talk to me or my country ever again lest you be told more about it
As an European I unfortunately talk too much about my country
But sometimes it's cool to show an explain that shows that yes, on earth, a country where you can have human / worker rights without your shareholders to go bankrupt or whatever your are fearing defending your broken system, yeah, those kind of countries exist
Ah yes the one thing that completely proves the point, not the 100 of other things that basically tell you that you’re a bigot and you’re making crazy infrastructure opinions based on a tongue and cheek reference
People need to know the reason behind Japan's Lost Decades. And no, it's not mainly because of the economic bubble of the 80s. But I guess they prefer to continue being dellusional and thinking that the USA "saved" Japan.
The Plaza Accords were just the tip of the iceberg, but you can start there. There was a direct intent to sabotage Japan's electronics industry since 85 at least, triggering the know collapse of the 90s.
After doing some light research it seems japans own policy after the accords were a much larger cause of the stagnation than any kind of “intentional sabotage”
Make sure that your research includes the "1986 U.S.–Japan Semiconductor Agreement". Add to that the knowledge that this whole semiconductor dispute began with the US falsely accusing Japan of stealing technology from American industries.
But americans love this narrative that they rebuilt Japan on their own. None of them will like knowing that the US had to actively sabotage the country to stop it from growing.
They also conveniently forget that Japan was already one of the world's greatest powers before World War II even began, and all of that through its own efforts and against the european nations (which at the time were on an imperialist mission in Southeast Asia).
Plaza Accord literally ruined Japan's economy to protect white business. not to mention the US suppressing every political party that wasn't authoritarian far right because muh cold war bulwark against gommunism 100 billion dead
Japan was on track to become the number 2 global superpower when the US fucked them over. The US pretty much forced Japan to sign a deal to massively appreciate their currency, making their exports much more unattractive. This put them in a recession for the past 30+ years they still haven't recovered from. Japan's share of global GDP is only a quarter of what it was in 1980.
“fucked they over” lol
Japan was in direct competition with American industries. Should Americans have let themselves become impoverished ?
Keep in mind you’re forgetting that America didn’t HAVE to rebuild Japan. We could have easily tuned them into a colony/ slave state which would have been the norm throughout all of human history and we …. Simply chose not to
Again you can easily point to failed Japanese policy as the real culprit
“ Japanese banks were allowed to survive despite having huge amounts of bad debt, creating “zombie banks” and businesses that slowed economic growth. The Bank of Japan was also criticized for helping inflate the bubble with low interest rates in the late 1980s and then reacting too slowly to deflation after the crash. Instead of quickly restructuring the financial system, officials often delayed dealing with failing companies and unpaid loans, which prolonged stagnation. Japan also spent heavily on public works projects that increased government debt without fully reviving the economy. On top of this, long term issues like an aging population, low birth rates, and slower consumer growth made recovery even harder.”
Well no that's not right!
People from Spain do not dislike Morocco. They dislike Moroccans. And its not even personal y'all catching strays meant to lots of people in small boats, they group y'all in the same cathegory.
Well, morocco sends illegal immigrants to spain on purpose, and those are all criminals and mentally unbalanced people, basically the worst of the worst go to spain and commit crimes there to make it safer here, so it makes sense to me

Everytime someone talks about my country be it good or bad, especially on other boards, an anon comes in and starts talking about how much he wants to suckle on our pintles, then he starts posting pictures of oily men or male dancers. I mean i'm sort of flattered i guess, but like.. man where did you even get all dis shit.

Depends on where they're from.
If they're from the same country, everyone agrees.
If they're from a neighbouring country, it turns into banter.
If they're from a random country, we're pulling up news stories and statistics to prove your country is just as much, if not shittier than ours.
