Im Upgrading my graphics card from a 6600 and stuck between a rtx 5060 8gb and rx6700 XT.
Which would you choose? I mainly Play e sport games and Minecraft.

Prices? Used, new?
I personally wouldn't spend a ton on a GPU that is used because no warranty.
Vaxtez@reddit
Neither the 5060 or 6700XT are worthwhile upgrades from an RX 6600.
Hell, if your 6600 does fine, I wouldn't even bother upgrading.

It does alright for the most part (70fps) but in cutscenes or more demanding moments the GPU is Just not powerful enough.

6600-6700XT is not worth it, aim for something like a 6800XT or maybe an RTX 3080. If you dont mind getting used ones

For the price of 5060 you should be able to buy used RX6800XT or RTX3080. Or add 30 euro and buy 9060XT 16GB. All of them will be x2 better than 6600.
UseFit4724@reddit (OP)
So you think the 3080 would be a better buy then the 5060?
esw123@reddit
Yes, it will be 30% faster, 10GB VRAM. But there will be no warranty, it will take like 220-250 watt with undervolt vs 130-150 watt on 5060 and you will have to use side framegen if you need one. Overall it is 25-30% better GPU. I had 8GB 3070 (same as 5060) and sold it, I won't pay more than 150 euro for 8GB GPU in 2026.
Luckyirishdevil@reddit
You're getting more performance and a bit more VRAM..... So, yes

Ill have a look, thanks.

RTX 5060 all day. U will like having DLSS going forward and the frame-gen works a lot better on Nvidia. With DLSS u can handle everything well 1440p high.
Existing-Network-267@reddit
If you not getting the 5060 ti 16gb you throwing your money in the trash tbh
UseFit4724@reddit (OP)
I mean I Just dont need an insnae graphics card tbh, however Ill see how much money I save up and then analyse once again.
BeachFishing@reddit
I’m currently running a 5060 8gb. I “upgraded” from a 3070. It is essentially the same as a 3070 or 2080ti but runs much better with DLSS on. It also draws much less power and runs much cooler. I have yet to run into any issues because of only having 8gb. I mostly play Arc Raiders and World of Tanks at 1440p. It does those very well and has smooth frame rates.
I’ve never used a 6700xt but AMD cards have much more memory for future proofing.

Yeah the menory is the only thing that is causing my dilemma, however i think ill go with the 5060, because newer tech and i preer nividia in general.
Mikaeo@reddit
If they're similar in price, I'd go for the 5060 as it's two generations newer and will benefit from the software support that affords. But a quick look at it on YouTube from hardware unboxed, it's only a bit better than the 6700xt at 1080p. So if the 6700xt is substantially cheaper, and if budget is a concern, if go for that instead.
UseFit4724@reddit (OP)
with the 6600 that Has 8gb vram my usage is at about 70% is that ok?
Mikaeo@reddit
Yeah. Vram is there to be used. Unused vram does nothing. The main problem with running out is stuff will stutter weirdly. But it only does that once you genuinely don't have enough.
UseFit4724@reddit (OP)
ok good to know, thanks!
zBaLtOr@reddit
5060 no doubt
Einherier96@reddit
Don't bother, the jump will not be big enough to justify spending the cash with either option
Fiamma05379@reddit
I'm pretty sure even a potato could run Minecraft and Esports games. Now, as an Nvidia client, at this point you could always wait to choose a 4060 or 3060 12 gigas. You can save money this way.
UseFit4724@reddit (OP)
Sorry, forgot to mention i Play 1440p and I want high settings.
Fiamma05379@reddit
Well, Minecraft doesn't change much. If you wanna crank all details to high, though. A normal 5060 ain't gonna cut it up to you. You should go for a 5060 TI 16 gigas. Problem is, the AI crisis is fucking all up.
