Let's say I build 10 high end PCs. Then I use remote desktop software and "rent out" time on these machines. Maybe someone just needs to render something or perform another relatively quick intensive task, but can't justify buying an entire PC.

Does anything like this currently exist? I'm sure there would be logistical hurdles with privacy, customization, sharing time, etc. but I imagine it would be doable.
