Don’t stress too much about picking the perfect language. Start with something practical like Python or JavaScript and focus on building small projects. What matters more is showing your work projects, GitHub, freelancing, not just learning syntax. Try simple things like websites, bots, or small apps and improve step by step. You can start earning with basic skills too, just stay consistent and keep building.

Honestly the tutorial hell is real don't just watch videos actually build something useful I'd start with JavaScript or React if you want to make quick money doing web dev for small clients It’s a grind at first, but having a portfolio of real stuff you’ve built is way more important than just knowing the syntax of five different languages.

This is well said.. JavaScript for anything web-facing would be beneficial. But pick one and build versus watching videos/tutorials. Feeling like learning isn't the same as learning. Understanding the logic of how to build is more important than the specific syntaxes. OP should mention what their background is. The learning path would change considerably based on whether they are starting from absolute start or whether they have some fundamental coding knowledge.

Use source control like git.

Sorry to be so negative, but the situation is more than dire.
In the current market this is near impossible.
The market is quite saturated and you will have to compete with fresh graduates as well as with laid off experienced programmers.
Pick any other job if you need to quickly earn money.

When i was in college my friend used to tell me to make bots in runescape. Apparently you can make money with that

learn web dev basics, make tiny paid projects for friends, finding paid work sucks

Typescript as a language and web development, you can learn react to do some mobile with react native (and you can work anything even not related to programming if you really need money)
