Performance close to RTX 4060. So most likely RTX 4050 performance. Can't wait for more competition in RAM & GPU space
aresthwg@reddit
I was about to say it shouldn't matter because of software/driver optimization but according to the article WHQL is apparently not handed out easily and it's a milestone that signals good optimization as well.
Always happy to hear news that could lead to lower hardware prices. Budget gamers shouldn't be forced to buy a PS5.
Sopel97@reddit
oh the irony given game prices on consoles
1corn@reddit
I mean as long as you're satisfied with what PS Plus is offering, you'll be paying $120 (or whatever it is right now) per year for games. Not great, not terrible. I've honestly been paying more for Steam games over the last years.
Sopel97@reddit
might work if all you do is play modern AAA games which are good for a week and then you bin them forever
coldpipe@reddit
Ps plus usually offers one AAA game and 2 "lesser" ones each month, sometimes more. About 15-20 AAA per year for about $80/year.
Unless you're FOMO type who need newest games, it's pretty good deal. Me and my friends haven't buy any ps game for years. Just recently we got space marine 2 for free. I already clocking 300 hours. Before that we played a lot of Diablo 4.
Besides, PS has console sharing which allow you to share everything with another person. Effectively 50% discount for every game and ps plus subscription itself. In comparison, steam has steam family sharing but you can't play at the same time and not every game support it.
aresthwg@reddit
It's still super hard to build a PS5 equivalent with brand new parts, and the average Joe isn't buying used. So that's actually insane, even after the price hike it's not a bad deal.
I recently tried doing all new to beat the PS5 and couldn't. I went AM4 and got a B580 but I got shafted hard on memory. The SSD of the PS5 alone is worth like 200$.
its_not_real1947@reddit
putting together a gaming PC before 2024 is like the last chopper out of vietnam
aresthwg@reddit
LOL for the non-enthusiasts this is so true. I'm a spoiled little rat and I still bought a GPU this month, but if I didn't have money or I wasn't so into PC gaming I'd be on a PS5 for sure.
its_not_real1947@reddit
we bought a PS5 back in 2024 when the black friday deal was letting the fortnite edition go for $349 on amazon
Taki_Minase@reddit
Sounds interesting.
Raikaru@reddit
That’s not that much behind Intel tbh. And on a bigger node
Blue-150@reddit
So basically all major GPU manufacturers have passed. Small regional companies from China are the ones I found that have not passed. Hopeful the competition heats up, Nvidia and AMD are Monopolizing, and it's concerning that the two CEOs are 1st cousins.
Punished_Sunshine@reddit
Glad to have more competition, hope they have a good future and also the other hardware makers appearing in china
bizude@reddit
I'm excited to see the rise of GPU makers in China, competition is good!
Ahyao17@reddit
I like to see competition, just not from China
bizude@reddit
I feel like that's a closed-minded perspective. We should welcome competition from everyone and everywhere.

We dont want a communist country having any grip of power
hornyhardcock69420@reddit
Oh so communism DOES work, eh??
horatiobanz@reddit
It's not healthy for one country to control basically all manufacturing and start controlling high tech, especially when it's not my country.
its_not_real1947@reddit
this is your brain on liberalism. do you think its your right to tell other countries what they can or can't do? was it bad when america had a chokehold on semiconductors and used that to destroy japan's high tech industry in the 80s?
horatiobanz@reddit
Bad for Japan. Like I said, its bad when its not my country doing it.
Plank_With_A_Nail_In@reddit
Lol, nationalism like this makes you stupid.
Protectionism is how you end up with expensive bad products, without competition why bother to improve?
kyussorder@reddit
Nope
Ahyao17@reddit
I don't like China
and also that Chinese business model often include cutting corners to get the lowers price (e.g. stealing tech / manufacturing. There are stories of people opening up factories in China and when their workers worked out how to do things, they open up one across the road and kick you out with help from local officials).
This will drive the competition into cost cutting and end up with everyone getting inferior products because of cost downs. Not saying others don't do this but usually not as extreme.
Plank_With_A_Nail_In@reddit
Made up nonsense.
Zwan_oj@reddit
is demonstrably false....
what about:
Or even some older historical gpu manufacturers?
Plank_With_A_Nail_In@reddit
None of those actually had WHQL, you only need that if you want to be bundled into drivers being installed by Windows Update.
You can search them here.

Verite_Rendition@reddit
Don't forget Rendition!
Admittedly, most of those are long-gone companies. I imagine the editor was trying to go for the fourth modern dGPU maker, but yeah, it looks a bit silly without that qualification.
Beneficial_Common683@reddit
hello its the age of communist now u must forget the past. north korea gpu next year bro
kyussorder@reddit
WTF
Leading_Pay4635@reddit
Waiting for the Lisuan Tech Tips youtube channel
Repulsive-Ad-8558@reddit
It would surprise me if LTT didn’t do a video on it. At least on Billi Billi if not YouTube.
Leading_Pay4635@reddit
LTT does billi billi videos?
jigsaw1024@reddit
GN would probably be better.
LTT will probably do a video anyways.
More exposure is always better for new entrants.
HuntKey2603@reddit
gn might make a video complaining about it
YYM7@reddit
I have not seen a a proper review yet (not at least in English). Interestingly their closest Chinese competitor, MooreThread has a bunch of videos with real test on YouTube, but no MS certificate.
Not sure why it's the case.
u01728@reddit
To my knowledge the 7G100 hasn't been released yet.
Main_Secretary_8827@reddit
Everyone thinks China is a saint now
Elizabeth-WildFox886@reddit
Nice, this is made in Taiwan by TSMC
sicklyslick@reddit
Kinda make this story a little less interesting

Why was this thread originally locked for 8 hours after posting?
justgord@reddit
Wonder if it plays well with linux ?
snollygoster1@reddit
I'm wondering how these will fare compared to what is currently on the market. Nvidia offers an all-around product that offers good upscaling in DLSS along with playable ray-tracing. Competition is always good.
