Crucial t700 1tb vs samsung 9100 pro 1tb

Which one of them is better for gaming (using them in a gen 5 build). im gonna have a lot of games on the ssd as this is my one and only drive on the build. my main concern is that the t700 has double the dram of the 9100 pro but i also have another concern which is that the t700 heats up a lot and thermal throttling may be a problem

You would barely see any difference between any of those and a gen3, nevermind a gen4.
I would actually go for more storage at gen4 instead gen5 to be honest.

sometimes cheap qlc dramless gen 4 either costs same or bit cheaper , so a flagship gen 5 makes kinda more sense with a small price increase for the reliability and value

That is fair, as long as expectations are low, since for gaming, the performance jump is quite..... invisible.

Yeah, right now there is almost no benefit , as you said if there is a good pcie 4.0 for 2 tb for the same price it is much more worth getting.
Just as a drive generally, reliability and not slowing down is important, so TLC might matter, DRAM cache less ofc.
I use a PCIe 3.0 DRAM cache SSD as a main drive and as a secondary PCIe 5.0 because it was cheaper than any drive with 1 TB for that price or atleast without trash parts like cheap controller and nand. I don't see any difference for day to day stuff and gaming.
Maybe in the future direct storage may use the pcie 5.0 ssds full advantage for more fps

Maybe, but until then, it's really not worth it.

9100 pro is better , btw T710 also only has 1 gb ram so the 2 gb ram the t700 1tb has doesn't matter
the 9100 pro is faster , more efficient get that

for gaming-only, dont overthink it. both are well past what games actually use — Gen 5 advantage shows up in sequential reads >12GB/s, which DirectStorage barely touches yet. expect \~5% real-world load time difference between any modern Gen 4 and Gen 5 drive.
9100 Pro runs cooler than the T700 (E26 controller in the T700 is notoriously hot and throttles without a beefy heatsink + good case airflow). T700's extra DRAM doesn't help gaming workloads — games barely touch DRAM cache.
honestly the better play is dropping to Gen 4 (Crucial T500 or Samsung 990 Pro) and putting the savings into more capacity. games keep getting bigger and Gen 4 is invisible to load times.

You won't notice any difference just get the 9100
