Best used convertible for first car?

I recently got my license and I'm starting to look into a first car, so I am looking for some advice and suggestions. I have absolutely no knowledge about cars but what I do know is that I really really want a hard top convertible. Another factor in my search is that the "modern" look of cars is generally unappealing to me. I don't really have a set budget but I was hoping to maybe keep it close to 10k? (I'm unsure how realistic this is...)
I would love some advice !!

Volvo c70 if you insist on a hard top, but you can get a Toyota solara for half the price and it will probably last twice as long. As far as I'm aware all the hard top convertibles use premium gasoline as well, whereas a solara just uses regular

woah, i did NOT know that convertibles usually require premium gas.. this is the first time i've heard of the solara and the price is a lot cheaper than others. is there a specific year you would recommend ??

I think second gen is considered best for solaras, 04-08. They stopped making them after that unfortunately. It's not that convertibles require premium, it's that most convertibles are either made by luxury brands or are luxury trims that use high compression engines. The c70, for instance, has a turbo 5. The VW Eos has a turbo 4. Both Lexus convertibles use premium as well. And so does BMW and Mercedes

They are out there. Just bought a 16 year old 128i convertible in white AT, 124k $5000

oohh speaking of mileage, what is the most reasonable range i should aim for when buying used?

Buy a Camry Solara. How much money do you have in cash? Don't take out a loan for something the depreciates.

my parents are most likely going to pay for it !! as far as im concerned, theres no way they're taking out a loan. we are most likely going to pay in full.

Early 2000's Lexus SC430.

this was a car i was confused about! theres a huge part of the internet that apparently hates this car with a passion, "worst convertible ever". slightly unsure why... but its pretty evident... but theres also people advocating for it?? who to listen too lol !

VW Eos is a hardtop convertible and can be had for $10K but I would not recommend one.
You could get a 1st gen Miata with a removable hardtop in that price range, as long as you are cool with a really old rear wheel drive Mazda.
Unless you live somewhere where the weather is super mild a convertible probably doesn't make much sense. Ask me how i know. :D

At that price your options for a hard top convertible are very limited. Possibly a third-generation (NC) Miata PRHT (power retractable hard top) might be in your range.

Probably an e93 or f33, e93 will be a bit older but avoid the n54 (335i) if you dont want an unreliable engine. A simple carplay upgrade using the original idrive screen modernises the car a lot while keeping the original interior
Source: i drive a 2008 e93 m3 and the only interior mod i have done is mr12volt carplay
