That's why "realism" is hated in works of fiction

No one questions "Escape from reality" as a real issue now that its more prevalent?
philmarcracken@reddit
the only acceptable customer base to hate on is weebs and (male)gamers. if anyone else has complaints about their entertainment, they're a critic and sensible consumer. if they do, its a gooner nerd loser etc

What pisses me off is that as soon as a guy expresses their preference in virgin women, people on reddit are quick to make fun of them and call them a creep. Even if that guy makes it clear that big reason for his 'demands' is his own lack of experiance. It really doesn't matter what their reason for being single for so long is - shit upbringing or mental health struggles - it doesn't matter. Wanting them to be a virgin implies that he is objectifying women and looking for younger partner
But when you touch grass and hear guys boast to their friends about their sex life, first thing they will let them know is that if girl they are seeing was a virgin. In multiple friend groups i was part of, without fail that topic was brought up. When you pull a virgin, it is treated as trophy and boosts your social status 10 fold
Since i'm that loser who gets no action. My philosphy is that beggars can't be choosers but even I have a massive preference for equally as unexperianced partner and it really comes down to wanting to share that milestone with someone. No matter how much liberal side of reddit triest to gaslight people into thinking that first time is not special, I don't care. It just hurts knowing that as I age i'm forced to look for relationship with increasing age gap or just give up on that want entirely
And I know i'm not alone in this. Just look at anime. It is a window to Japanese culture and values and there is a reason why girl having sex with someone prior to MC often becoems big point of friction in a plot. Different cultures and cliques have different values, Japan which is more conservative values virginity as it is a big building block for a healthy, happy family
To be honest i don't give a fuck what some women on internet think about guys wanting virgins. In a world where guys get discriminated based on their height or baldness at least wanting a virgin partner carries some merit to it rather than being entirely superficial

The question I always have is why does that bother you so much? There's lots of different niches in anime, tons of which depict women who aren't virgins or at least imply they get around. Yet there is definitely quite an outspoken cohort of people who get really frustrated when people enjoy a niche of anime that depicts the woman as a virgin.
Why is that? Why does that get under their skin so badly? Because it just seems like the exact inverse of the incels fixating too much about the sexual history of a girl. Why is it wrong or angering for someone to enjoy this particular fantasy?
WorkerClass@reddit
That's pretty much why.
Autumn_Fire@reddit
That's not even remotely near to what I said. That is so far off it may as well be in a different country.
WorkerClass@reddit
I was saying that the green text I made was the reason they care about virgins in media,
Autumn_Fire@reddit
Oh. Apologies then, I misread.
LukeJaywalker0@reddit
Nobody says this. Incel-types' argument is that sexual liberalism leads to slutty women congregating around a few men. Therefore, despite more women being sexually available, they're only available to Chad. And if monogamy was socially enforced and promiscuity was shamed, Chad would get one girl and the rest of the girls would pair up with one man each.
If you're going to critique an ideology, you should at least know its basic premises.
LukeJaywalker0@reddit
The ideal shames us all. Men see Roronoa Zoro and want to work out more. Women see a virgin woman and feel like it's an implied insult at her past sexual exploits.
Autumn_Fire@reddit
It's a very odd hangup to have considering it's not real and it's only an ideal in the context of that setting (just as it's the ideal to have multiple partners in a different fictional story)
LukeJaywalker0@reddit
Virgins have the lowest rates of divorce in real life. No man wants his girlfriend to have been with tons of men before him. Draw your line at 5, 10, 20, or (her age) x (3). But I'm sure you draw a line somewhere too. Don't even start with the experience angle because it's not real. There is no black belt in sex. Once she's pulled her lips over her teeth and stopped going limp, the only things that matter are her enthusiasm and her looks and the personal connection between her and yourself. Any "technique" is marginal at best and not worth having the baggage that comes with a loose woman.
Autumn_Fire@reddit
People will treat that as some insane, evil thing to say but it's the same as any other trait that requires temperance. It's common and expected to have sex before you find the one, but when you're out there with tens of people every month, it's a sign of a lack of self control which is in turn a sign that relationships with that person will be risky. It's the exact same thing as overeating or drinking or whatever and it's so bizarre how people act as if it's not.

Classic example of madonna-whore complex, Freud wins again.
LukeJaywalker0@reddit
Madonna-whore isn't a real thing. How many men do you know who can't fuck their wives because she's too angelic and precious in their eyes? It's just that there are women you'd fuck and not marry (the latter) and women you'd fuck and also marry (the former).
Maybe that isn't what Freud originally meant but I'm going off how I commonly see the idea used.
Bazzatron@reddit
This is perhaps a bit too earnest of an engagement for this sub, but I have a BSc in psych, we touched a little on Freud in first year just to speed-run AS and A level psych on things like Milgrim, Piaget, Pavlov - the surface level stuff, just make sure everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet before "real" University began and we started having to deal with fun stuff like rifling through great tomes of z-scores and manhandling SPSS and MatLab.
Every time I see some aspect of Freud brought up that isn't the classic Id/Ego/Superego or developmental stages - I'm like "holy shit, what?!". Given that I never went into sciences, it does make me wish that I'd gone more down the BA route and studied more of the history and philosophy, because these ideas are always a fascinating read.
Anyway, thanks for prompting me to open the wiki to read the wildest shit I'm gonna read all day.

Name of the top anime?
JustChillin3456@reddit
You can find celibate women at a church / mosque / temple
But that requires leaving the basement
ooqq@reddit
In Japan for a girl to (accidentally) disclose that she has a bf, is enough to end her professional career, and become a shut-in due she cannot walk the street again because the public harrasment everyone will throw at her.
As somebody said, xenophobia in asia is pro level.
JustChillin3456@reddit
Lmao you’re thinking of idols not the average Japanese girl
TheSenCtizer@reddit
Not really, only for those specifically involved in the idol industry, or female streamers/vtubers both of which tend to be extremely parasocial. Tons of Japanese IRL actors and actresses are married, some even to each other.

Welcome to the real world.
Ok_Battle1062@reddit
The desperate-for-a-whiff emotional cucks will tell you otherwise, but they're objectively wrong - in our escapist-consumerist neoliberal world 1 is too much already.
I wish it was different, but it is what it is - you're either it, or you're not and all "nuance" is cope since the oxytocin bond is here to stay.
