Nah I’d fuck that up

The standards of this sub are confusing haha
TrainToSomewhere@reddit
It looks ugly but some people know how those fish smell and love it.
For me I know how those fish smell, and the magazine with recipes for them only gets opened for some soba dip I bookmarked.

Fresh rice with a bit of soy and a piece of butter is honestly one of the best things you can enjoy. I make mine with a bit of sugar then after cooking, drizzle with sushi vinegar. Makes rice ten times better with no effort and a low budget.
Consol3cowboy@reddit
It’s the bad photo quality and the overshadowing XD

I remember seeing someone just put soy sauce on white rice for the first time and I was perturbed.
On sushi? Fine (though soy sauce is only supposed to touch the fish). Raw egg with rice? Also fine. Pouring soy sauce directly onto white rice doesn't compute to me.
Reminds me when green tea made its presence known in America and they were putting fucking sugar into that shit. Now Westerners are wiping our matcha reserves. Insane.

As an asian, this looks tasty af
nathan_henton@reddit
The only Japanese here is the soy sauce.
LatterParty182@reddit
is that dried fish?
Pastasteak@reddit (OP)
It's a fresh fish. It's grilled on the thick iron pan. That's why it looks like that.
StrawberryPatchCat@reddit
Classic.
If someone calls this shitty, Imma call them uncultured swine.
Redence_@reddit
This is a southeast asian lunch
Pastasteak@reddit (OP)
I think it's more western or middle East style. I don't use bowl and chopsticks. Instead I used plate and spoon as the utensils.
Redence_@reddit
I'm from SEA and I've had this EXACT setup as lunch multiple times as a child. Plate, rice, soy sauce, fish. Spoon, or hands, whichever you like.
chopsticks are pretty much non-existent at the deep ends of SEA.
SpeedBlitzX@reddit
The background and your plate managed to make it look like you have the japanese flag as a background for your meal.
Was that intentional?
Pastasteak@reddit (OP)
It's unintended. Maybe the Japanese spirit of this food says otherwise.
FilmGood8168@reddit
It seems to me that the fish is still alive and can be saved.
ilsemarswalk001@reddit
looks smash
stopchooingsoloud@reddit
I love Saba. I basically made the same thing the other day, but I put furikake and crunchy chili garlic on it.
FormingTheVoid@reddit
Furikaka is the best
